Thanks @Theteapotsbrokenspout and @Snowyowl78, that is helpful. Think I will try the S so, my Alixes and Gabis are mostly an 8.

@ShangPie , I have a previous version of the olive sweater in two colours. I found that they bobbled a lot to begin with, but then the bobbling seemed to settle and I don’t have to debobble much at all now.

Great to know- thanks

clowniform · 03/10/2023 19:05

@ScottishMouse If I weren't so arsey(!) I would buy so many COS trousers. Great shapes, look far more expensive than they are.

faustina · 03/10/2023 20:04

@ScottishMouse - someone -I think @Firesideknitting was wearing a really lovely pair of corduroy elasticated waist trousers in a pic further up the thread. they look very much like the Suki and she said they were from Passenger (and obv much cheaper). If I needed another pair of trousers I would def try them - they look amazing

Yes I can definitely testify to the passenger cords, warm, easy to wear… I’ve been gardening again today in them so easy to tuck into wellies or over ankle boots. I got them pretty grubby, a quick brush off and a change of top and I was presentable enough to do a run to the shops ….

ScottishMouse · 03/10/2023 20:16

Thanks @faustina and @Firesideknitting . I did actually take a look at those when I saw them upthread, but I am not a massive fan of cords (I’m not even sure why really!). I just really want some nice and flattering denim trousers to wear with cosy jumpers and blundstones.

Ahh yes I get you, I over wear the annie jeans … they are 100% an all year long west for me, but at this time of year they get the jumper and ankle boots …

OftenOrange · 03/10/2023 20:31

@ScottishMouse @Firesideknitting Love the Annie too.
A friend tells me they make me look flat at the back but at least there’s no sag , and I love the style.
I’m also happiest in dark indigo jeans , I wear something else for variety but a
ways miss the Annie’s

Countmeout · 03/10/2023 20:34

The Annie’s are very neat on the waist though. Completely different fit to Gabis and Alix.

OftenOrange · 03/10/2023 20:35

Was in my local Toast (again,) and tried the cord swing jacket in that gorgeous chartreuse , looks so good against that embroidered skirt which I also love.
At £345 please tell me to wait for the sale , but let’s face it , it isn’t going to be going in this Winter sale.

ScottishMouse · 03/10/2023 20:48

I love the Annie jeans @OftenOrange @Firesideknitting but they do not work for me at all. No chance I can get the waist to fit me. I like the Ashley jeans too, but similar issue. I haven’t managed to buy any trousers that don’t have an elasticated waist in probably 3 or 4 years at least now.

The top button can be moved without it affecting the other buttons, I moved the top button as they were ever so slightly nipping

I bought the embroidered skirt, it’s stunning, however the elsa is very thick and does pull in a fair bit at waist as well as it folds in the band as the elastic hasn’t been fixed in it’s free in the waistband channel… I will eventually fix it into the waist band… just haven’t had chance yet

OftenOrange · 03/10/2023 22:38

@Firesideknitting I didn’t try the skirt on , but as I’m not clever at alterations it may be a deal breaker; I tried the Summer skirt with arty splotches of colour and there was a lot of bunching . Whereas the Sea Kelp skirt is perfect and lies well.
Anyway , lovely to own such a beautiful piece , do you wear it much ?
What attracts me is the way all the Toast tops look amazing with it!

Firesideknitting · 03/10/2023 22:46

@OftenOrange, it’s beautiful. So far I’ve worn it twice. But I’ll get more wear when it’s tights weather.. I’ve had it with my favourite jumper then with the ruffle collar slubby in green, I also have the green cord shirt to wear over more as a lightweight jacket. I do like the heavy embroidered skirts, bought last years too(got so much wear from that)..

Snowyowl78 · 04/10/2023 07:09

Has anyone bought trousers from plumo? How can these be one size??
I don’t get how they could fit 8-14?! Lovely clothes though!

AFingerofFudge · 04/10/2023 09:08

@Snowyowl78 I was looking at them too. I decided that if they look that nice on a size 8 model, then they won't look like that on size 14 me Grin

AFingerofFudge · 04/10/2023 09:09

It's a bit like Olive. They have some beautiful clothes, but the one size thing puts me off.

Snowyowl78 · 04/10/2023 09:12

@AFingerofFudge is weird, I don’t know how they could fit a 14! How much elastic is in there?!

on another note, I got the green cord dress today and it’s lovely! It’s a keeper. I already have the brown one. I also like the orange! But that will have to wait for the sale. I wonder if they’re a tiny bit long but it has a lovely long thick hem and I don’t want to mess it up

clowniform · 04/10/2023 09:27

Hah I'm used to one-size stuff from Japanese brands, but they are at least honest enough to admit their range would only cover UK6-10. The silly sizing is why I've never ordered from Olive either.

Snowyowl78 · 04/10/2023 09:30

I could understand it with a jumper of cardigan (or socks!), but trousers?! Strange.

dudsville · 04/10/2023 09:52

Re the darts in elasticated waist trousers, these two have them (and I'm lounging today in this!).

@Snowyowl78 I'm envious, would love to see how you're styling those cord dresses. And I love toast's deep hems so much it's the ne thing I would never inker with!

clowniform · 04/10/2023 09:56

@Snowyowl78 whyyyy did you remind me Plumo existed? Haven't shopped there in years and now lusting after two velvet dresses!

Saurus72 · 04/10/2023 10:00

@AmethystMoonShine Ha, I do love a boot! These ones are super comfy, I like Dune for comfy boots, not bad quality. These look similar. What I really am hankering for are the patent block heeled ankle boots I had at university, I loved them and they would have been comfy because I walked everywhere 😬.

On a different note, I noticed that the green version of this dress has completely disappeared from the website, but this has been added - definitely summer not A/W. Wonder why about the green dress - quality issues maybe?
