@Stoic123 - I hope you got some money back!

I didn't ask to be honest- I gave her some choice feedback.

It was a pretty good price for a 'renewed' piece (which I knew Toast would sort) so I probably would have paid the same had there been an honest description. It was the subterfuge that bothered me.

TerrierOrTerror · 01/10/2023 18:50

I have also had a bad Vinted experience this week. Not Toast but similar price point. Trousers with a set of holes going all the way through (front and back). Looking at the staining and also the holes and stretching on the packaging (which I hadn't noticing) it looks like it's been chewed and pulled away from a dog.

faustina · 01/10/2023 20:07

@TerrierOrTerror - that's dreadful!

Dee1224 · 01/10/2023 20:17

@faustina - I am sure the more natural methods for the stain removal will work, but if not, try Vanish.

I had a similar issue with a Toast dress I got on eBay - I was absolutely disgusted and about to bin it. However, I took a chance and scrubbed the armpits with Vanish and left them to soak in an absolutely manufacturer not-recommended Vanishy solution for a very long time! After about three similar treatments, the stains and stiffness came out.

Having said that, Vanish can remove colour a bit if you leave it on too long, (didn’t matter in my case as it was pale), but worth a shot if all else fails. You could always redye it.

Do let us know how it goes and good luck!

faustina · 01/10/2023 20:22

@Dee1224 - thank you! And it took the stiffness away too - a miracle! Honestly I raised two sons and I can't recall ever seeing anything like this before, though I def have memories of the 'extra spray of awful smelling teen boy deodorant should do the trick' - which of course it never did!

Dee1224 · 01/10/2023 20:32

It really did take the stiffness away @faustina - you would never know that the pits were a yellowed, crusty mess beforehand. It beggars belief that someone would sell something like that.

Vanish powder is wonderful stuff, if a bit prone to lightening fabric with over-enthusiastic use, (as I found when I used it to remove a tomato seed stain from my cream toast Dhuggie 😱)

dudsville · 01/10/2023 20:53

Aha, i think vanish is what my dh used!

@TerrierOrTerror , that's awful.

OftenOrange · 01/10/2023 21:10

To Vanish fans : never soak in Vanish solution if a garment has any metal .
DH ruined a new linen shirt thus, soaked with a pair well washed light grey chinos .Result : 30 + rust stains . They looked very permanent.
Guess what ? Soaked in Vanish overnight , and all well.
I should have said Oxyclean , same animal but half the price.

@Faustina The top looks lovely , I hope it survives Deogate.

faustina · 01/10/2023 21:15

@OftenOrange - thank you. I think Oxyclean is what's in the big plastic tub! I use the Vanish spray for regular stains, but the Oxyclean was sent to me for free by Ocado to review ages ago and I never got round to it. I will investigate tomorrow!

Firesideknitting · 01/10/2023 21:54

Quick add from me, these tulip print pyjamas are wonderful. Absolutely great for this time of year. I’ve crawled into bed as we’ve had a wedding here over the weekend and we’re all shattered

@neveradullmoment99, I missed that you had covid! How are you faring? Did you have it too @clowniform ? Hope everyone's getting too rest.

That's a nice description @OftenOrange "They give me a nice swinging stride"!

Thanks for asking. I'm fine now. Was a bit rubbish to begin with but it's passed now! Back to work tomorrow!

dudsville · 02/10/2023 07:25

Glad you're on the mend @neveradullmoment99. I was reading a covid thread on here last night and it did sound rubbish.

ilovecherries · 02/10/2023 10:09

dudsville · 02/10/2023 11:03

Perfect @ilovecherries ! Loving pond on holiday 😁

I have and love that jumper too @Firesideknitting ! And that's a lot of bulbs 😲

Today I'm wearing... grrr can't remember what this dress is called, and my own personal "toast catalogue" compilation of my purchases won't open. Was it chalkboard? It's too warm for the trousers i wanted to wear.

This is a great combination, I’m rubbish at remembering the names … 6 bulbs down ! 2994 to go !!

dudsville · 02/10/2023 12:16

If I pen my catalogue on my phone it goes straight to print, which I definitely do not want to do, but i think the jumper is alpaca neat in the colour of pear.

I've finally taken the ticking stripe "under his eye" linen dress to have the neck line altered. I've had to go to a Big Town as I've tried my small town seamstress on other things years ago and didn't like her work. So I'm also paying Big Town prices for this... fingers crossed.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 02/10/2023 13:47

Finally wearing my drawstring collar tunic dress from the summer sale, although it is still a bit warm for it here.
Met my brother for lunch and the first thing he said was 'are you going to take your coat off?' - er no, it’s a dress, you probably don’t want me to sit and eat lunch half naked 😆. Not quite sure why it looks like a coat 🤔.

OftenOrange · 02/10/2023 14:05

@ilovecherries Pond looking very stylish , I snapped one up and itself waiting for next year . Have a wonderful time in Spain.
@Firesideknitting Such a great jumper, it’s so useful ( have it too , but feeling bad about always saying those words ! )
@dudsville Best of luck with the new seamstress, not an easy one to find.
I decided to examine my back view in various trousers and was horrified by the saggy arse in most . However the M Howell and Toast are so well made it seems to me it would be a difficult thing to fix.
IVe never had much back there, even with gym and Pilates , I need the equivalent of a padded bra , known in US as a booty popper!

Countmeout · 02/10/2023 14:06

Love seeing the pond on holiday @ilovecherries . I assume the weather is as lovely as predicted.

I think that’s chalkboard @dudsville . I had it but returned as I felt it was too dark for me.

I’m wearing my black Alix and a Boden Breton. Neither are going of holiday with me. I think I’m going to travel in my big pair of Alix indigo as they’re so comfortable. Currently on the line.

The Solovair Mary Janes have arrived. I think they’re possibly a keeper. The length is fine even being round toed (I am a 5 and bought a 5. ) I think they’re quite flattering on my foot and give sufficient cover for winter. Have yet to try them with dresses for confirmation. I would however say they’re fairly narrow , I do have them on the tightest hole but I think I’m narrowish.

Dee1224 · 02/10/2023 14:13

Love Pond on you @ilovecherries - have a great hol!

Fab outfit @Firesideknitting - I admire your energy!

I wore my linen trousers today as it’s still muggy here and my bargain Toast shirt eBay purchase that I had forgotten about until yesterday!

OftenOrange · 02/10/2023 14:14

Today I’m in a jumper from Spring ‘22 , it’s quite thin and looks good tucked in , but not very warm.
Toast easy t and very old Ashley denims.
Ancient Arche shoes I just dug out of storage .

Snowyowl78 · 02/10/2023 14:50

I’m pleased today as I got this parka from Vinted for a bargain, it’s rather massive but I think it still works! Anyone got it? I think it’s c. 2021

No1Mousie · 02/10/2023 14:52

Household chores today so I’m wearing the denim dress with the drawstring waist and the chalk boat next tee.

@Firesideknitting I don’t envy all those bulbs to plant, but I do love that jumper - the colour is lovely.

Weather fabulous. I did bring my saggy-bum indigo alix in case I was cold - they are currently packed in my suitcase with my going-home hoodie and my denim jacket.
