Hope you have a lovely trip @ilovecherries, and get to enjoy all your Toast dresses there.

I know at least one person here has the embroidered textured dress. Can you tell me if it is neat on the bust? The reviews suggest it is big but it looks quite neat on the bust on the models. Also, colour-wise, is it more like the photos on the model or the photos of the dress on its own? On my screen it’s a more purple toned navy in the model photos but a more grey toned navy in the photos on its own. I’m hoping it is closer to the latter. Thanks!

Snowyowl78 · 30/09/2023 17:46

@ScottishMouse its not massive, it was borderline too neat for me but I’d prob stick with the medium (size 14 IRL). It’s also definitely navy and not purpley. Is lovely.

neveradullmoment99 · 30/09/2023 18:20

So also did a mini pay day splurge.

Bought the orange scarf. Slightly itchy but omg it is beautiful.
Orange tunic dress [I have the olive coloured one and love it] and it is absolutely gorgeous. I think I even like it better than the green. Would love a orange and navy stripy top to go under it but sadly can't find one. I lastly bought the harissa coloured cardigan. Stunning colour. Love it. Sadly for my bank balance, I love it all.

neveradullmoment99 · 30/09/2023 18:22

That has to be me until the sale. I blame covid! I was unwell last week with it and bored so of course did some internet shopping!!

Stoic123 · 30/09/2023 18:35

@neveradullmoment99 - I love the colour of the Harissa cardigan. Saw it in a shop and it's an even more stunning colour in real life. Didn't get the chance to try on. What is the sizing/fit like please?

dudsville · 30/09/2023 18:36

I also think the harissa cardigan is lovely, great shop @neveradullmoment99 !

I bought a large [ being a 14] and have a couple of other neat cardigans like this. Its slightly generous but I like it that way.

neveradullmoment99 · 30/09/2023 18:39

It is fairly true to size.

Stravaig · 30/09/2023 18:43

@neveradullmoment99 Is the harissa shade more orange or red in real life? On my screen it's a marmalade, but some reviews mention red.

Stoic123 · 30/09/2023 18:44

@neveradullmoment99 - thanks.

Enjoy wearing your new pieces- all of them are such joyous colours.

Snowyowl78 · 30/09/2023 19:08

@neveradullmoment99 oh dear you’ve just inspired me to try the green and the orange cord dress! Already have the brown one and it’s great

Noodle421 · 30/09/2023 19:21

I have the harissa cardigan in a medium ( I’m a UK 12) and it’s a good fit. Neat but not clinging in any way. It’s a beautiful and uplifting colour which looks good under my tweed winter coat. I call it my ‘baked bean’ cardigan, not quite so upmarket as harissa but it’s a good colour comparison nonetheless.

It's a beautiful chilli pepper colour.
A sort of deep orangey red.

Thank you! I never entirely trust my screen.

I think@Noodle421 has the perfect descriptor, 'baked bean' is mid-way between marmalade and harissa, and arguably, most appropriate for Toast :D

Noodle421 · 30/09/2023 19:40

@Stravaig thanks - I actually can’t think of a better way to describe the colour. As soon as it popped into my head I can’t un-see it. Good job I love baked beans ( especially cheesy ones). 😋

ScottishMouse · 30/09/2023 20:11

Thanks @Snowyowl78. I might give it a go.
I am thinking of trying to get a couple more dresses that will work in winter. I don’t usually wear dresses in winter, but my middle is just expanding and expanding with perimenopause, while the rest of me is staying much the same, so I am finding it increasingly difficult to find trousers that fit or flatter. I’d really rather not be so affected by how I feel about my body these days. I’m thinking maybe a slightly different way of dressing will help.

mizu · 30/09/2023 21:12

Funnily enough I'm feeling similar @ScottishMouse so much so that I've put my only pair of trousers (bar a couple of pairs of very comfortable Olive Clothing jeans) on eBay today - TOAST wide leg navy ones that I put on every so often then take off and put a dress on.

They are lovely, such good quality but I'm just not feeling them and I don't think they are very flattering on me anymore with my changing shape.

Hoping to sell as I bought this on Vinted today Grin

ScottishMouse · 30/09/2023 21:24

It’s disheartening, isn’t it @mizu. I feel like I could maybe shift a little if I upped the exercise and had a sharp word with my sweet tooth. But honestly, I feel like I have been dealing with enough over the last few years that I’d rather not remove all joy from my life. I’m going to try to embrace the dresses this winter instead.
Funnily enough, I got that very dress at a Toast circle event recently and have worn it a lot. It is a little big across the shoulders but will be perfect with a sweater or cardi over. Hope yours works out well for you.

dudsville · 01/10/2023 07:16

I've also fallen in love with dresses. When i was young, dresses were for dressing up. Several years back someone commented how I never wore dresses. It was summer and she thought I dressed too warmly. I simply had a uniform of sorts - cords and tops, and never really thought about it. She's the one who introduced me to toast. My peri tummy isn't that bad, but it's so changeable in response to eating and my loose dresses are so accommodating.

PretLea · 01/10/2023 09:51

@ScottishMouse did you end up getting the gingham boat neck cotton dress? I’m just wondering about sizing, I think a few on here have mentioned the arms are quite tight…

I had a brief look at the new donegal sweaters yesterday and thought the colours are beautiful. I really need some sweaters and these really appeal to me, but also wondering how the more swingy shape will look over dresses.

@dudsville hope you feel better soon!

Countmeout · 01/10/2023 10:28

Toast Marlow’s instagram shows the little cape thing . It looks longer than I recalled and actually maybe useful enough. Has anyone seen it?

PretLea · 01/10/2023 10:59

@Countmeout I saw it yesterday. Definitely longer than what it looks like on the website, and long enough to cover half way down my arms/to my waist or even hip possibly. But maybe depends on individual proportions. Beautifully soft too.

dudsville · 01/10/2023 11:12

Thanks @PretLea , I'm definitely on the mend, but I'm on my second pot of strong tea hoping perhaps in vain for some energy! I think I'll finish this pot and take a nap instead!

In tipping out my wardobe yesterday to try things on with the chalk boots I came acoss my pleat front black and white dogtooth, cotton and wool trousers and re-fell in love with them. Anyone else have them? I think they were described at the time as an Italian fabric. They're one of toast's longer trouser length, and somehow manage to not look too stuffy smart, more casually elegant. They were a part of a stack of straight legged trousers I bought before realising that leg didn't suit me. I sat down one weekend and tapered them all. Anyway, it's too early here to get out the proper AW things, but I'm considering wearing them tomorrow with arizonas and a tee shirt, which is ridiculous as I'm spending the weekend comfortably in the Alder.
