Here's Sophie visiting a Victorian mill. I like the jacket, the tones suit her and it's a nice fit at the collar and shoulders. But....is she wearing a scrunchie?!

That photo of Kate & Will at George's football match makes them look like 2 parents who look like Kate & Will but probably isn't them.
It's the off duty clothes & the fact they look like they've been caught in the rain that does it.

I find that famous people don't look exactly like 'themselves' (as in on TV & in other media) when out & about in real life & dressed down/normal iyswim

Didn't Will once say that he gets mistaken for Ben Fogle - well when Will was younger he did.

Meghan and Harry were out last night at a fundraiser fro the emergency services in Sant Barbara and Meghan wore a lovely Carolina Herrera back and white tweed cost.

I would love to have the kind of lifestyle where I would wear something like this (i.e. swanning from warm car to warm venue, rather than walking for a mile to the train station in the rain, and there only being a three week window between not needing an overcoat, and needing a properly warm one, rather than a stylish cape 🤣)

I regularly look at capes, I'd love one. I just can't pull them off.

themessygarden · 23/09/2023 10:40

Aghhh, I am always the odd one out here 😳, I don't like that cape/poncho at all, it looks like a picnic blanket that you fold back up small, using velcro straps to turn it into a bag.

Serenster · 23/09/2023 10:42

Rania out and about in New York. I love this outfit - even down to the co-ordination between her watch strap and her bag. You can’t see the shoes very well, but they are a gorgeous pair of Dior pumps that she wears a lot.

Oh, I'm with you, @themessygarden . I don't think it works and a tweed cape with bare arms doesn't look right. I usually like Carolina Herrera, but this is an odd, bulky fit.

Rania looks fabulous! On the fence about Meghan's cape but she is as stunning as ever from the neck up.

Vitriolinsanity · 23/09/2023 11:24

That pic of Will and Kate must have been taken by another parent or staff at the school which is a bit off.

Maireas · 23/09/2023 11:25

Rania - gorgeous! That's how to wear these loose, high waisted trousers. Just enough shape to give some definition and not be swamped by them. The white is so chic.

Vitriolinsanity · 23/09/2023 11:26

I have a cape, and if I'm not wearing a long sleeve jumper I have long black leather gloves that eliminate that off bare arm look.

I think MM buys her wardrobe early and wears it irrespective of the weather.

Maireas · 23/09/2023 11:30

I think with many celebrities, @Vitriolinsanity , they are sponsored or wear items provided. Sometimes it matches with the event, sometimes not. Disclaimer - I don't know what arrangements Meghan has, but it could explain some choices.

I am the type of woman who would get trapped on a door handle if I attempted to wear a cape.

LadyEloise1 · 23/09/2023 12:09

I'd love a camel or taupe coloured alpaca cape from Lacorine.
Sadly out of my budget.

My aunt has a beautiful navy velvet, full length, hooded, pale pink satin lined cloak. She got it for her debs, back in the day when debs wore long white dresses to their debs ball in Ireland. She has nowhere to wear it now. It just sits in a box in her spare room. Her granddaughter will probably inherit it. Smile

New to the forum, it's a lot of fun.

I've genuinely liked Camilla's outfits in France. She looked really good. I'm not impressed with Mrs Macron, her outfits are predictable and looked awful in the black pants and oversized red coat. She also should do something about her hair, I don't know if it's a wig but having such big hair overwhelming her face and body, does nothing for her.

Letizia's dress was a bit boring but looked good as usual, same as Meghan. I rarely can't fault what Meghan wears.

Maireas · 23/09/2023 12:26

That sounds fabulous, @LadyEloise1 - aren't you tempted to borrow it?

Me too, JaneJeffer, me too. 🤣 Another good reason why this is in my fantasy wardrobe only.

I thought that too. I suspect that there's a parent about to receive a letter from the Head.

It might explain why Kate sticks with the skinnies and fitted jackets for her public 'casual' clothes. In those jeans and coat her silhouette would be completely different and she'd be unrecognisable from a distance.

(Just waiting to see Kate and William in matching DryRobes like a lot of the parents that we see on the touch line!)

She loves a scrunchie! I think they look dreadful, especially with more formal outfits. I would go as far as to say I have a scrunchie phobia. Smile

I'm not keen on her suit. I think the trousers with a plain sweater would be fine, but with the matching jacket (which looks bulky), it's all a bit much.

SenecaFallsRedux · 23/09/2023 14:46

I have several cape-like wraps similar to Meghan's (not as expensive as hers, of course). They are perfect for a warm climate and easy to throw on and off (also good to have in warmer climates when it's cooler in the morning, but warmer later in the day.) One of mine is Black Watch tartan; in my imagination, it is a bit "county Scottish." 😊

SenecaFallsRedux · 23/09/2023 14:47

Rania looks fantastic. That's the way to wear the wide-leg trousers. Good tailoring is so crucial to pull off that look.

LadyEloise1 · 23/09/2023 15:34

I do love Black Watch tartan @SenecaFallsRedux
My ancestral tartan is Davidson which is lovely too.

Work? Tesco? Cafes? Paris? Church? 😂
