Are we going to buy or have we peaked?

I use loads of perfume so the fragrance calendars are great for me. With the exception of neals yard wild rose beauty balm and korres body cream, I've never spent a penny on any type of skin care in my life until I bought my harrods advent calendar last year , so it's a real novelty for me to have lots of different things to try, and I've still got some things left.

ClarkWGreaseball · 21/09/2023 17:43

@EachandEveryone well, it's down to people's individual circumstances I suppose isn't it? Everyone has different salaries / disposable income etc and different priorities and it's probably as simple as that.

ACAC2023 · 22/09/2023 06:16

I’ve decided to get the Vogue Calendar which is supposed to be for sale today. I’m not sure how to buy it. Anybody know? I went on the waitlist the other day but haven’t had an email?

ACAC2023 · 22/09/2023 07:07

I ordered the Vogue Calendar, though it said shipping will be from 6 November!

AprilLady · 22/09/2023 07:34

@ACAC2023 how did you order? Do you have a link? Thanks.

Squishmymallow · 22/09/2023 08:14

I’m excited for everyone ordering vogue! It looks amazing but definitely over budget for me!

What do we think will happen with daily opening threads this year? It feels like there might not be enough people buying each calendar to get good individual threads - will we all be on waifs & strays together?!!

Pinenu · 22/09/2023 09:49

@Squishmymallow I hope so, waifs and strays is easily the best AC thread.

I’m not judging just gobsmacked that people can afford to spend £700 plus on three calendars is it really good value for money?

They are extremely good value for money. One Liberty calendar lasted me about 6 months one year. So you'd be spending less throughout the year.

ACAC2023 · 22/09/2023 10:02

@AprilLady I saw there was a pre order button on the website and it allowed me to order. I had to pay & got receipt etc. But the pre order info said it would be shipped from 6 November

ACAC2023 · 22/09/2023 10:06

Yes, I think they have updated it now, so you can just order. I will let you know when I get the shipping notification. I hope it’s before 6 November 🙂

AprilLady · 22/09/2023 10:09

Thanks @ACAC2023 The email just came through with a link to order.

I’ve ordered it! Easily the most I’ve ever spent on an advent calendar, but it’s the only one that I’ve been actively excited about.

I’ll definitely be keeping it unopened until December and opening on the waifs and strays thread.

BakeOffRewatch · 22/09/2023 10:11

The Crisco Disco is actually a “Discothèque | Crisco Disco Candle (Large bespoke size)”. There’s more details in the link I put up on each of the products.

Dithering whether to just get it. Like I said I’ve followed these threads for years, would be nice to join in. I would be clever about it like you have taught me and sell the Olaplex and Charlotte Tilbury black mascara a straight away, rather than keeping in my drawer to never be used.

I’m a bit surprised by all the Olaplex in the drawers, the influencers I follow all talk about a class action law suit against the brand for causing hair loss.

PomRuns · 22/09/2023 10:22

I’m wondering about not getting one. I normally have 2-3 but in truth - don’t really need anything 😮
will I miserable come December???!

100%. I love it.

MidnightMeltdown · 22/09/2023 11:03

Did anyone get a discount code to work on vogue?

wheresmyshoe · 22/09/2023 11:03

I'm in exactly the same place @PomRuns as I really don't need more products but advent and jadvent made a huge difference in cheering up dark days. Jadvent was a real surprise success as a mood booster.

AprilLady · 22/09/2023 11:06

@MidnightMeltdown no, I didn’t, sadly. The WELCOME10 code I tried said not valid for this item, so I suspect they have turned off any discounts for the calendar.

clary · 22/09/2023 11:06

Oh MAN I wish I hadn't looked at the Vogue one. I so so love it! Too much ££ tho and not really ticking my boxes overall. But oh cashmere socks!

I have been unable to resell Olaplex actually as ebay won't accept it - so I just gave it to a colleague who uses it. Another reason against Vogue actually (phew).

BakeOffRewatch · 22/09/2023 11:08

Whoa really? I wonder why it’s not allowed on eBay.

ACAC2023 · 22/09/2023 11:09

@MidnightMeltdown sadly no, had to pay full price. The cashmere socks have really enticed me too. I’m not interested in the jewellery but hoping it might be better than I expect when I see it? If not, I’ll try and give it away.

MidnightMeltdown · 22/09/2023 11:18

Thanks for replies @ACAC2023 and @AprilLady

Worth a try!

LaBrujaPiruja · 22/09/2023 11:24

I’m tempted by Vogue but hate yellow “gold” jewellery. The box is so pretty!

MavisMcMinty · 22/09/2023 11:29

I’m a bit surprised by all the Olaplex in the drawers, the influencers I follow all talk about a class action law suit against the brand for causing hair loss.

Wow, really? I bought a LF Olaplex box and the sizes were so small I grumbled at the cost, but now I’m glad! I do have a 100ml unopened bottle of No.3, which I was going to use when my PK Elasticiser runs out - should I not use it? And is that why Ebay don’t sell it?

PomRuns · 22/09/2023 11:48

@wheresmyshoe I’m wondering about getting m and s for December - it’s £45 and there’s a full sized L’occitane shower gel, so v good value.

Maybe get a reduced one for January?
