Are we going to buy or have we peaked?

I quite like Anthropologie- I watched and unboxing and some of the products look really good - although I made an error and watched a spake nk one and now I want that instead

moimichme · 17/09/2023 20:28

Talisin thanks for clarifying that - I had no idea!

I was thinking of buying the Anthropologie one for my sister, but undecided as yet.

This thread moves so quickly!

I thought everyone on the thread might like this runner’s calendar that was advertised to me. 3 pairs of socks but each sock day has only ONE sock! What, just put a few more gel samples in for heaven’s sake! What are you meant to do when you open the drawer with one sock? For £39.99 it is pretty good value though https://bimbleandbolt.com/products/runners-advent-calendar

@Possimpible thats exactly one of the reasons I like the vogue AC, it has some jewellery that is simple enough to be worn and elegant. I’d never wear the bracelet in the Liberty calendar or the Crystal ones in the Net-A-Porter NAP AC. I think I would realistically use everything. I’ve actually never bought an AC before but always followed this thread and wondering if I could use that reasoning on the price. I am interested in the jewellery and the foreo which would make the price worth it.

@Giftwithpurchase @AprilLady - what do you make of the Clé de peau drawers in the Vogue AC? I’ve never heard of the brand and the sizes are tiny.

thank you for the code @Twinsandsome .

I can’t see it discounting @HollyGolightly4, it’s got the cachet of the brand and I think they have lived up to it with the contents and brands. It’s a unique offering and feels special. I’d be really annoyed if I’d stayed on the Liberty scheme and then saw the Vogue one come out.

ferretface · 17/09/2023 21:36

My husband's had that runners calendar before and it's really good for the price - the socks are nice quality. Come to think of it we'll probably get it again this year (maybe both of us this time). They probably should put a caffeine bullet or strip of revvies or something alongside the single sock days 😄 but as you say it's very good value.

BakeOffRewatch · 17/09/2023 21:37

I think the Liberty one is really good for the price, especially because of the size of the products. I love Votary. But it’s got 4 hair care drawers, I wouldn’t use the clips or bracelet.

I wonder what deals they have with brands? Dr Dennis Gross is an HG brand but I’ve never seen even a single peel pack in any of the ACs. Where Augustinus Bader is in everything.

Squishmymallow · 17/09/2023 22:28

@BakeOffRewatch funny you should say that as I’ve just been looking again at CB contents and wondering if it’s actually better than I’d originally thought - it has Dennis Gross daily peel travel size and also AB cream!!

clary · 17/09/2023 22:33

I am not a fan of CB this year - apart from decent 30ml Sunday R GGenes and Seated Queen cold cream, there's not too much of interest. And no fragrance. - which I have decided is a big draw for me as I always finish the ones I like and they are usually £££.

CB has had Dr Dennis Cross in it. Last year there was a full size pore serum. Previously there has been a travel size stress serum.

Housewife2010 · 17/09/2023 23:11

I've had CB for the last 3 years and really enjoyed it. I always love the Saturday before Christmas drawer with lots of makeup. I'm disappointed with it this year. I like Selfridges but I'm also beginning to get tempted by Liberty. Ideally, my advent calendar would have 3 or 4 niche scents, a Tilbury palette I haven't got and a gorgeous lipstick.
Cosmetopia initially put me off Liberty, but it has 4 scents, a fabulous lipstick and SR Luna which are pluses for me.

FrogsLegs111 · 18/09/2023 09:41

Would it be really excessive to have 3 advent calendars and start opening them from the 1st October?

I don't even open them - I just empty everything out and start using it 🫢

Doubleraspberry · 18/09/2023 10:56

I had Anthropologie last year and it was quite lovely. It looked great (I find the packaging of many of the calendars really disappointing) and the products were interesting. But they are mostly minis, in case that bothers anyone.

I'm tempted to get it again actually, unlike any of the big name calendars.

OchonAgusOchonOh · 18/09/2023 11:23

My Boots Premium one has arrived. It's smaller than I expected but it seems to be more a good use of space in the box. There are two layers, one in a box on top and the other in a drawer underneath.

I'm sure all three are necessary 😆. But I would be inclined to save at least one of them to start opening on 1 January when Christmas is over.

I would say that you need two for December (in case there DoDs), one for November and one for Jadvent. Possibly also one to rip open immediately 😄

Last year, after all the discounts, I had a wall of advent. I had to hide them when dp came over in case he thought that I was a crazy person Blush

Housewife2010 · 18/09/2023 11:35

Anyone else tempted to leave it later this year, in case there are some fabulous discounts again?
Also I wish LIB/Style would just reveal the AC contents. They've revealed the brands, but I want to know the products. They are like this with their boxes. Their PR is often quite amateur.
Last year they showed product silhouettes so it was easy to guess the products.

Ohdear7 · 18/09/2023 11:38

I was just going to say this! I wish they would stop sending emails repeating the same info about the brands and just tell us the content - I’ve important decisions to make! 😅

MidnightMeltdown · 18/09/2023 11:40

@BakeOffRewatch

I like the look of Vogue, but it just seems a little too expensive. If it was under £300 then I might have bought it. The jewellery looks quite nice, but it's only gold plated stuff so not worth the high price tags imo. There also seem to be a lot of minis for such a pricey calendar. I really want the box though!

Oh good. I haven't watched an unboxing but it looks good to me.

Stokey · 18/09/2023 12:03

I'm going to sit tight. I didn't buy one last year until JL got discounted and then picked up Fenwick's at half price too - I think that was end of Oct?

I'm not too bothered if I miss out as have so much to use up anyway so don't really need anything. There's always M&S.

Housewife2010 · 18/09/2023 12:20

If you join the Vogue club you get 20% off all their merchandise. If this works on the AC, then it would cost you £300 rather than £350. The club costs £20 a month, so cancel as soon as you've ordered. You get a free Vogue t shirt when you join.
I haven't done this. If the jewellery wasn't yellow gold, I would be tempted.
Just thought this may work for any of my fellow AC junkies who are lusting after the Vogue AC.

Yes. I’m hanging on in the hope of good discounts. I don’t love any of them enough to justify paying full price. I won’t be too disappointed if they sell out at full price so will hold tight.

Thanks @Housewife2010. That's worth considering

Giftwithpurchase · 18/09/2023 14:09

@BakeOffRewatch I've only used cle de peau make up - the concealer. Which was ok but not worth the hype imo. It's been having a moment with the influencers recently and I was influenced! I've never tried the skincare - agree the sizes are small. It is £££ tho. I wonder if they'll all be in the same day or couple of days given the sizes.
