@Theteapotsbrokenspout totally agree - more clothes seem to be designed only for small bust/chest/shoulders.

Snowyowl78 · 22/09/2023 12:34

Got my final parcel, all returns!
Ikat dress does not look good on me, bit frumpy, just as well as was £215
white poplin shirt and check shirt with frill collar both comically bad. I will have to conclude that I do not suit Toast billowy shirts

Having been through my wish list and deleted items I no longer want I have noticed it is gradually creeping up in number again as toast add random things to it. This includes a couple of pairs of Sturlini shoes that I don’t even remember saving.

As regards sizing most of my toast clothes are S or M / 10 12 , this sale is the first time I have needed anything in a L - the mint tank. I think the biggest pain for me is what seems an increase in clothes which don’t fit those of us with a larger bust.

There is definitely a glitch in the system. The dip dye silk skirt (recent sale) is now on mine and I've never once considered it.

Stoic123 · 22/09/2023 12:37

@Theteapotsbrokenspout - they've suggested a very nice outfit. Might have to look out for it in the next sale now.....😂

@Stoic123 To be fair it is a nice outfit 😁.

faustina · 22/09/2023 13:39

@Snowyowl78 - sitting on my hands trying to resist the breen bag...

I had all my refunds this morning which was nice

There was an interesting article in the Guardian recently about sizing. It mentioned fit models and how if they use someone of a particular age and shape (eg young, athletic) they're not going to look their best if you are neither of these things and it made me wonder who Toast use. I definitely think Toast shirts are not for the ample chested

neveradullmoment99 · 22/09/2023 14:04

When I first started buying Toast, I didn't have much of a bust and it was fine. Post meno, it's not the case.
Completely agree, Toast are really needing to look at their bust sizes nd even more so with their new sizing. It's even worse. Sizing up is slso not the answer. It's too baggy everywhere else. Same issue with waists. Far too tight.

neveradullmoment99 · 22/09/2023 14:09

My two other sale parcels arrived.
The maeve dress in orange.
The Robin dress.
I love the Robin dress so much. Beautifully long, much longer than in the pictures and fits beautifully. Multi seasonal too and to think I nearly passed this one by. Its by far the best dress I've bought in the sale.
The Maeve is also lovely. I'm envisaging it with a long black tee under it and black doc like boots. I also love it, so win win!

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 22/09/2023 14:22

That’s lovely @neveradullmoment99 it’s so nice when sale purchases are a success.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 22/09/2023 14:27

I bought an enamel soap dish from toast earlier in the year and then decided I would like another one, but they had disappeared from the website. On and off all summer I’ve searched the Internet for something similar and suddenly they have reappeared on the toast website. I’m not sure I believe they’re real but I’ve ordered two just in case 😂.

MrsRadichio · 22/09/2023 14:46

@neveradullmoment99 can you remind me which dress is the Robin dress? Google has not helped.

I've received the ikat jacket and in 2 minds. On the one hand I don't have anything similar so in theory fills a 'wardrobe gap' and I like the print. I only like it open though, it doesn't seem to sit right wrapped, also I tend not to like the faff of items that needed to be tied.

I think some others ordered it too - are you keeping or not?

Dee1224 · 22/09/2023 14:55

Totally agree @neveradullmoment99 - I have narrow shoulders and a huge bust - I struggle with Toast tops in a way that is not the case with my other clothes.

On their website, Toast choose to always show their clothes on models who are very very thin, (a few look quite ill, imo), flat chested and tall. I know that the Toast lives can be a bit more inclusive, with some variety in height/size in the people showing the clothes. However, increasingly I feel that Toast are actively trying to remove those of us with larger chests and/or shorties from their customer base🤣

Snowyowl78 · 22/09/2023 14:58

@neveradullmoment99 @MrsRadichio
this is the Robyn dress. I got it too and really like it, it’s wonderfully crisp! (I think this is the one you mean?)

i also have the Ikat jacket and it’s in a definately maybe zone. I quite like it done up but I probably wouldn’t wear it like that. I got the smaller size. I will probably keep it because I have had lots of failures in the sale so I feel justified

dudsville · 22/09/2023 15:02

I also tried the ikat jacket @MrsRadichio but i returned it. I preferred it done up but it was a faff getting the fabric to sit right. I returned it as it wore me and i couldn't see how it would work with my things. Thankfully really, I'm supposed to be saving for early retirement!

faustina · 22/09/2023 15:43

@neveradullmoment99 - the waists are ridiculous. I ordered the cotton linen skirt in shell in this last sale. I have the trousers in a 6 and I really liked them - the waist on the skirt in the same size was SO small I could only just do it up and it certainly wasn't comfortable - I doubt even the 8 would have been either - it's the same with shirts - once you get something which doesn't gape at the bust, it's way too big everywhere else. I notice that some skirts this season have elasticated waists which is a good sign hopefully

See @Snowyowl78 link. It's that dress!

ScottishMouse · 22/09/2023 17:30

@faustina, I have found that the elasticated waists are much smaller than they used to be too. The ikat culottes are exactly the same size as some previous season culottes but the waist is a few inches smaller, despite both of them being elasticated.

Agree with both of you! What on earth is going on with you Toast. Your sizing is WORSE than ever!

sonjadog · 22/09/2023 19:34

I was considering the Robyn dress but didn't get it in the end because it was cotton poplin. Can I ask, how thick is the material? Could it be worn in late autumn/early spring or is it definitely summer weight only? Thanks!

I decided not to get it in this sale because I am only interested in winter clothes now, but I might order it up next time it comes in a sale.

faustina · 22/09/2023 19:35

It really is worse isn't it? At least an elasticated waist is a bit more adaptable than a fixed one though

I guess I'll just continue with ordering multiple sizes

sonjadog · 22/09/2023 19:40

I agree about the elasticated waists, btw. I got some culottes which should have fitted according to past experience and the fit guide, but the elastic was much tighter than previously. For no obvious reason too. The previous elastic would have worked just as well.

If anyone should be interested, I got the sea kelp skirt in the sale. Very pleased with it. A bit lighter weight than I had hoped but it will be okay for the autumn until it gets properly cold. The waist elastic is also old style!

dudsville · 22/09/2023 20:14

@sonjadog , i don't know the difference between the old and new elastic. This seems like useful information, what do you mean?

sonjadog · 22/09/2023 20:21

The new elastic is less elasticy, I think. It seems thinner and less solid. Less stretchy or maybe it is just shorter. Items which would have fit me in the old sizing with an elasticated waist (I am on the large side, so would have been an L or XL previously), are now too tight and uncomfortable or impossible to get on over my hips. Sadly, I fear I may be one of the top end of sizing people who no longer can buy Toast, or at least only the old stock. Fortunately I have a good selection of dresses which will do me for many years to come, I hope!

@Stravaig 😂. That's a clear message!

And thanks @sonjadog, I think I lack knowledge of the old stuff to compare or understand!
