Yes well, alas, rowing boats and lily pads and sundowners will have to wait for another year, the Reeds shirt has been packed away in my end of season suitcase and stored away - and before anyone expresses concern, the bag is surrounded by moth bombs, killer traps and baby wasp thingies, so hopefully Reeds shirt will remain intact for another year !

Noodle421 · 20/09/2023 20:11

I meant to link @Stoic123 anf @dudsville

Can’t keep up with replying to all the interesting posts and photos but a big thank you in particular to @clowniform for helping to educate me a little on some of the issues that can go wrong with clothing manufacturing. Really helpful to have the photos to illustrate problem areas. I’m sure there’s been times I’ve dismissed odd quirks as being peculiarly ‘Toast’ when actually it’s an issue of QC. I’m going to scrutinise my T’s tomorrow !!

dudsville · 20/09/2023 20:28

I like that pattern of quilted jacket a lit @Alpacasoft, would prefer it not so exaggerated wide, but prefer the option to use buttons ... I think. Going to have a google for quilted jackets...

ToastCosILoveIt · 20/09/2023 22:27

Update on the men’s sale purchases as DH is home from his work trip. Both the Ikat shirt and the green striped tee are keepers as they fit well and look good. He is around 5ft 11 and well under 12 stone and the large in both fit him. The mediums may have fitted but would likely have been slightly snug. So, men’s Toast is definitely, on the whole, not generous in sizing.

dudsville · 21/09/2023 07:21

That's helpful to know, thanks @ToastCosILoveIt !

Oh I just remembered what would probably be perfect for wearing under the Lydia jumpsuit during autumn; does any of you remember those double-layer merino long sleeve T's that Toast had years ago? They were basically two T's on top of each other. And very slim-fitting. I will try with one of those.

Yes! I have one in taupe/orange and it's still going strong.

It's lovely isn't it, I prefer buttons.
I have an injury and keeping drapey things on always makes it worse ( sounds odd I know!)

Have sent the Maeve dress back and will be checking my refund carefully -thanks to whoever mentioned it

Finally got a shipping notification for the sale ikat dress this morning (ordered Sun), though I will be inspecting it with extra critical eyes in light of recent events. Are you still waiting? @Tremblingmadness @neveradullmoment99

@Alpacasoft I adore that pattern especially the a-line volume but am trying to wait for the paper edition. The collar is very Toast (Hal IIRC?), wonder if the two brands will ever do an official collaboration beyond press features, as M&M did with Cawley Studio. Not sure what fabrics you're asking about but if the cotton jacquard it's similar to the Toast kantha pieces but softer and finer, just gorgeous.

oddandelsewhere · 21/09/2023 10:32

Back to quilted jackets, I'm spending too much time thinking about this. I chose the ochre colour and measured my favourite oska boiled wool jacket to get the right size but I just couldn't order it knowing I couldn't return it. Then I got excited about the M and M jacket, but honestly although I could make it, and used to make all my clothes when I was a poor single parent who had to look respectable for work, I just can't be bothered now. Added to that is the fact that the pattern is a pdf not a printed paper one and the resulting jacket would still be quite expensive in terms of materials and time. (I prefer to knit now) So I still need a jacket. I like the look of the green corduroy one, but I know that the collar won't look right as you can see in the pictures that it's cut in one piece rather than having a seam at the back neck. Back to the oska one while I think.

Snowyowl78 · 21/09/2023 11:13

@ToastCosILoveIt ive bought a load of men’s stuff and most of that has been large as well, with the exception of shirts when medium has been ok. Partner would normally be a medium everywhere else

has anyone bought from Charl Knitwear? Just bought something from Vinted for a nice price, the Chibbles jumper

Mine is due tomorrow thank goodness. It took ages!

Brillenbar47 · 21/09/2023 12:24

I am still waiting for my sale package to dispatch so I am not holding out much hope.

I had the joy this morning of wearing my navy peacoat from last year - the one which someone on here was lucky enough to win and I was then lucky enough to get at sale price. It is such a lovely jacket so soft and comforting to wear. It is such a joy when you pull things out that have been put away and it is a little like an old friend

Brillenbar47 · 21/09/2023 12:30

I have also bought these trousers from me and em https://www.meandem.com/luxe-flannel-wide-leg-crop-trouser-cream

Which I am dithering about because I am hoping toast will do a cream mariner trousers in a wool blend. The me and em ones feel like wearing warm joggers though really smart but obviously pretty expensive

Is this the seed dress Harry Judd’s mother is wearing in Race Across the world? I see she has the same chest problem with it as some of do with Toast clothing (needs a pin) . Just watching this morning.sorry she’s sideways I don’t know how to fix that.

@clowniform
I wasn't really asking a question other than " oooh have you seen this pattern and fabric" 😂
Got a bit over excited, it's right up my street.

@oddandelsewhere
Paper pattern is out next month-I literally cba with pdfs, such a faff

Stravaig · 21/09/2023 12:59

@Countmeout Just watched a couple of modelled clips over at Sahara thinking that the model actually has noticeable breasts, and it makes such a difference to seeing how the garment drapes and moves! Still squinting to make out darts or lack thereof though.

Yes@Countmeout
I have both the shirt and the dress.
Both bargains bought preloved.

I think she needs to size up as its too fitted over the bust, probably one of the few toast dresses I'm a 12 in, usually I'm a toast 10.

Stoic123 · 21/09/2023 13:33

Final sale item arrived - 4th one (2nd package).

It's the cotton slub tank top in Coal that has been popular on here and a definite keeper for me too. I don't own any other tank tops as I find it hard to get one that doesn't make my boobs look enormous.

I'm keeping all 4 sale items so it's my first 100% hit rate in a sale- odd not to be heading to the post office. Helped that this sale was short, only had one drop, I had an idea of fit beforehand (thanks to you on here/reviews - not Toast) and was fairly constrained.

Hope your oustanding items and refunds get sorted soon.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 21/09/2023 13:37

My parcels I returned on Monday have been refunded, and @Dee1224 no deductions for postage this time.

BettinaInDenmark · 21/09/2023 13:49

So I managed to get through my sales items last night, and figured out (sorta) what to keep or not.
Unfortunately I experienced the same with the lime "pond" dress as others here - fabric pattern placement made the straps look a bit confusing; right now I think it's going back, together with the coal tank top, which is definately too small. The crinkle skirt didn't look good on me, and the Fracap mules might or might not be the right size - I have ordered next size up.
But attached are pics of the things I want to keep - excuse the bad light!

Forward seam cotton trousers in thorn and slate; cotton easy tee in coal and montella; gathered sleeve cotton oxford shirt in chambray; linen pull on trousers in midnight; collared back loop sweatshirt in denim blue; garment dyes linen swinging shirt in midnight; sea kelp cotton skirt; garment dyes linen easy dress in black coffee; maeve sea kelp dress in sea grass; tie neck cotton linen tee in rich navy.
The cotton pique shirt in blue slate and two fabric remnant bundles are still in the maybe-pile

Dee1224 · 21/09/2023 14:24

Those colours look lovely on you @BettinaInDenmark . I wish I had ordered the Maeve, but it being poplin put me off a bit - maybe if it reappears in a later sale.

Dee1224 · 21/09/2023 14:28

That’s good to hear @Theteapotsbrokenspout - I will be sorting out my returns this weekend as I was waiting until my last orders had arrived so I could take everything to the post office at once.

The coal tank, gingham dress and cedar/blue tee have all landed today so will try on in a bit then decide.

The too big trapeze and ghastly (on me) balloon sleeves tee are definitely going back, as is pre-sale faulty towel.

Pique jacket and seat cushion are staying. Still pondering the towel, (which I absolutely do NOT need), and the sweatshirt. I hate the sleeves and it has a really chemical smell, but something keeps bringing me back to it!
