Sale parcel arrived and I'm keeping all 3 items (which were on my pre-sale wish list).

  • Boatneck linen dress in midnight - suits me and, because of the thinnish material, fits a wardrobe gap.
  • Easy tee in Rust. Good shape for me and colour will be useful. Like it at sale price.
  • Reeds linen check top. Sized up because of this thread and had doubts that it would suit. A nice surprise - it is super pretty and I'll enjoy wearing it.
Only the Slub Tank in Coal to come, which was more of a later impulse buy. Liking the good reviews on here. Ordered on Friday and still no despatch email though....

It's chilly here (Yorkshire) and I'm wearing a Cord Tunic Dresses from last year (Prussian Blue).

Big sale order came today. I am disappointed 😿

The green trapeze dress is identical to Pond, but in lime. I don’t mind that, (although I suspect people would think I was wearing the same dress), as my love for Pond is unbounded!

However, like Pond, it’s oversized and I would need a Small. The sale having ended, can I be bothered phoning CS and trying for a dress that looks just like the one I have? Decisions, decisions!

The blue gathered sleeves tee is a beautiful colour but deeply unflattering across the bust - I don’t really know what I was thinking with that one.

The jury is still out on the pique cotton shirt/jacket in slate, (aka black), and the loop back sweatshirt. I wanted to wear the shirt over Pond, )inspired by @dudsville but it’s too big on the shoulders and too tight across the chest - it does nothing for me and looks like it might shrink. Has anyone washed it successfully and if so, how? My oh and sister like it on me so I might keep it.

Despite my dislike of ‘bracelet’ sleeves, (basically sleeves that are too short/shrunk imo), and big collars, I quite like the sweatshirt. I will decide tomorrow.

The sailstripe cushion is wonderful. Why oh why did I only order one?

I am attaching some pics. What do you think?

@Dee1224 I really like that lime green dress, especially with the shirt, not so keen on the sweatshirt. I am a bit biased about the sweatshirt though as I sent back both the sizes I’d ordered as neither size seemed right, also I found the material had a bit of a synthetic feel.

Dee1224 · 18/09/2023 14:23

Thanks @Theteapotsbrokenspout - I love the dress but it gapes so badly at the back and arms - I don’t know whether I can be bothered trying to persuade Toast to dig out a Small.

I think you might be right about the sweatshirt now I am looking again at my pictures. It really does help me to take a picture and come back to it ‘cold’.

OftenOrange · 18/09/2023 14:25

@dudsville Adding mine to the love for your palm dress, love the colours.
@ilovecherries Also not liking myself in the midnight linen
dress. I bought in S and it’s too neat, I feel very prim in it .
@Snowyowl78 That little poplin top was one of my top buys this Summer, iKWYM about the fit although that was a plus for me !

OftenOrange · 18/09/2023 14:39

Love Toast mail mornings , I had a curate’s egg of a parcel:

Best buy : Maeve sea kelp skirt , perfect fit waistband loose so no bunching
Adore the colours and looks great with mismatch tops.
2nd. Coal vest , small but perfectly formed.

Bought navy and black boy tees , but decided to swop one for full price Emma as looks better with dungarees and pinafore

Not sure : Flora lime / orange seersucker dress , love fabric, fits me but back is poofy and big .
Pond, love fabric but can’t decide

Going back: Midnight linen dress, Sapphire linen Celebrant dress , the brilliant cobalt did nothing for me.
Lovely heavy linen and liked the style.

and Gathered sleeve T in faded indigo (weirdest blue I’ve ever seen)and odd looking .

Anyone else ever have parcel amnesia? I am old-school Toast and still have memories of my sale items literally being snaffled from my basket as I tried to check out so I tend to order items separately if they’re showing as low stock. I had three packages left outside my front door this morning and I could not for the life of me remember what the third could be! Anyway, I am super-pleased with my mini haul of the Ikat jumpsuit and I am happy that I decided to size up as it is a neat fit. I’m only sorry I didn’t have it for the fleeting heatwave but I will wear it with my trusty navy blue Cos cashmere boyfriend cardigan, glitter ankle socks (my newest obsession - Unmade Copenhagen and Beck Sondergaard from TK Maxx) and my Hoff Skyline trainers (which are the comfiest trainers I’ve ever owned and in complete contrast to Veja’s which wear out on me within six months as I do a lot of incidental walking).

Also in my delivery was the bargainous short wrap gown which I intend to wear with my new jumpsuit and my growing collection of Ikat dresses and skirts. Plus, the linen cotton shirt in pink smoke which I have been eyeing up for the past couple of years. I usually HATE pink but I make an exception for dusky/dusty/blush? pink and I have just treated myself to a new bedding set in French linen (JL own brand, 70 per cent off).

Stoic123 · 18/09/2023 14:54

@Dee1224 - I also think that the dress and the pique shirt look good and am less keen on the sweatshirt. I had problems with the sweatshirt fit too.

OftenOrange · 18/09/2023 15:05

@Dee1224 I love the lime dress , I can see why you love the Pond as the style is so good on you , the lime is a totally different effect , a really ace buy .
I also like the navy pique shirt , can’t see much not to like there !

OftenOrange · 18/09/2023 15:09

@SmaugMum Lucky you , the Ikat jumpsuit is a standout special piece 💙 I’m wishing I’d tried it!
I thought it may be too warm as spend Summers in very hot climate now.

clowniform · 18/09/2023 15:10

My massive tee order came with every current style in a few sizes, and I'm keeping only 2, 1 I find beautiful and 1 I find useful (Morris would approve). Both in my usual Toast size, but I've no experience of older tee sizing for comparison.

Beauty: V-neck cotton linen tee because I love the rolled collar, high V and moderate dolman sleeve. I would get this in other colours too if I could.
Utility: Cotton boy tee in Indigo blue because it actually matches the blues in the Toast patchwork skirt that I've been struggling with, glory be! Otherwise, the cut/fabric don't particularly make my heart sing but maybe will be a grower.

Boat neck, Emma, Easy, Cleo all bad cuts for me. Glad to have satisfied my curiosity, though.

Just waiting for impulse ikat dress now, though kind of hoping it doesn't suit as my Uniqlo order (CWK and Ines stuff) was much more successful than anticipated!

Dee1224 · 18/09/2023 15:22

I couldn’t get on with the Cleo or the Emma tees either @clowniform but sounds like the other two are perfect!

Thanks, @Stoic123 and @OftenOrange - I think I will keep the shirt but am still worried about shrinkage.

@dudsville - how do you find washing the pique shirt - any shrinking?

Unfortunately the dress is huge along my back and shoulders which is why I only showed it with a top. I do really want it, but I am going to have to try to persuade Toast to sell me a Small (and hope that’s not too small).

I am still finding Toast sizes all over the place - I could have fitted me and a friend into the M loop back trousers I tried on yesterday, but S were - of course - too small!

Saurus72 · 18/09/2023 15:26

@Dee1224 Agree with everyone else on the dress and shirt - you could always return it and wait to see if a small pops up in a future sale. And yes re: sizing - it’s a complete mystery. A little bit of consistency would be so fabulous.

clowniform · 18/09/2023 15:27

Love hearing everyone's thoughts. If we're a representative sample I suspect many of these will be listed again next sale.
@ilovecherries All the well wishes for what sounds an amazing trip! Please share your planned outfits and packing decisions so I can holiday vicariously too 😁

@dudsville love that dress on you and how clever to raise the neckline with the belt! That would make several Toast dresses dangerously tempting once again for me.

@Dee1224 going to be contrary and say I prefer the shade of the sweatshirt with the greens in the dress to the jacket. But sleeves that length would be a dealbreaker for me, I find them so uncomfortable.

Dee1224 · 18/09/2023 15:31

Thanks @Stoic123 and @clowniform - I do like the dark blue of the sweatshirt but yes - the sleeves are so annoying, which is why I pushed them up, (not really an option in winter, though).

OftenOrange · 18/09/2023 16:32

If anyone has this dress I’d appreciate feedback …is it a flattering shape, is the cotton very thick and finally is the print easy on the eye? I’m thinking it may be too bold for my low contrast colouring,

ToastCosILoveIt · 18/09/2023 16:33

I'm enjoying all of the sales talk. My parcel was supposed to arrive today but hasn't. Now showing as coming tomorrow. I've got the embroidered cream skirt in there and matching top, the linen blue jumpsuit in a large (tried the medium in store and it was tight on the bust), the bold striped tank in blue (have the orange and the striped orange versions already so know they will suit), a slate east tee and the Arizonas in oiled leather.

For DH I have ordered the Ikat shirt in large snd the Theo striped tee. He is most definitely not large but men's toast seems to come up small on him. I'll let you know what the Ikat shirt is like in real life (and whether I'll be borrowing it 😀).

I have both the dress and the sleeveless top.

It is rather straight I recall, but chinches in at the waist if you want to. The fabric is fairly thick, but not too much so, in my opinion. I love the pattern, and fortunately the armholes are not ginormous. I love the pattern. I have used the top a lot more than the dress, and the colours on it have faded a bit

BettinaInDenmark · 18/09/2023 16:44

Arrrgh, I fear something went wrong with my order... I bought a lot of items on Thursday, and Friday morning I got message it has been dispatched. But the DHL tracking service still says "shipment information received".
Just had a talk with cs who will look into this and contact me tomorrow morning at the latest.
Hmm, the money was drawn from my cc already on the Thursday, so I guess something must have been sent out of the warehouse.

This looks great, I really like that together

Thanks @Firesideknitting !

faustina · 18/09/2023 17:07

@Dee1224 - I hope you find the the dress in the right size because the colour is beautiful on you - and another vote for the pique shirt (which I have and love). not so keen on the sweatshirt

My order is all going back bar one pair of trousers (breen tapered workwear). I was underwhelmed by the boy tees and the bottle green linen trousers, also the space check which are a nice shape and weight but the colour is a bit shit on me

...and the CWK Uniqlo is going back too - jumpers way too big, but might re-order in XS. @clowniform - what did you buy?

Dee1224 · 18/09/2023 17:11

Thanks @faustina - how have you found the pique shirt after washing - any shrinkage?

faustina · 18/09/2023 17:18

@Dee1224 - I've used mine as a jacket and I'm not sure if I've washed it at all yet!
