Whilst I was there, I tried a few things on: The cord pinafore was nice, but a bit stiff and they didn’t have a M - one to watch in the sale, I think.

I also tried the brush cotton pale blue loungewear dress - tts - but the flaring under the bust did nothing for me - again, one to consider in the sale, but I would definitely only wear for bed/in the evening watching tv as it’s flannelette type cotton. I love that material as it reminds me of my childhood, but I know it’s not for everyone.

I was very tempted by the dark blue striped dress in M - again will watch for it in the sale.

I also tried the loop back trousers. Small were - unsurprisingly - too small, but Medium looked like clown trousers. Annoying, as they were nice.

Dee1224 · 17/09/2023 18:22

Here’s some pics of what was in the shop today. I was strangely drawn to the brown/blue checked apron- I wish they would make a dress in the same material. I used to have a similar skirt and wore it til it fell apart!

Here’s a few more pics. I love the quilt. I like the jumper too, but wish it was a shade darker- it is a tad too Halloweeny for me, I think.

Help me oh wise Toasties! I am trying to downsize my wardrobe and realise I have 4 (!) similar Toast jackets

  1. A denim jacket with white buttons. A few years old but not worn much
2 A smarter navy wool linen jacket, classic shape, only a couple of years old
  1. A cotton double faced soft jacket with duffle style closing - indigo coloured
  2. A recent navy jacket with slightly flared sleeves and tilted pockets. Bought earlier in the year, this one I think is staying.
Which one(s) to sell?!! I mean, they all are fairly similar!!
dudsville · 17/09/2023 19:54

Hi@Dee1224 's sister! That dress is great on you dee.

The frith is very long @AFingerofFudge . I tried 3 sizes - my hs size could have fit two of me and went to my ankles. I swear the versions the models wear are heavily altered! I may kick myself for not ordering the mens ikat top. How did you choose your size in it?

Also, @AFingerofFudge , can we see them on? I admire your attempt. When I was looking at sweaters with dresses today, albeit briefly, I was kicking myself for ordering more stuff as I've now extended a part of my wardrobe basically. I do not have much space. My wardrobe is tiny and full and I refuse to change that.

Did anyone see the Marvelous Mrs Maisal, and her wardrobe by the end of the show? A part of me would like but i have the opposite and would be smart to keep it that way!

OftenOrange · 17/09/2023 19:55

@AFingerofFudge They all sound great , I’d hang on but if you must , sell the duffle !

@Dee1224 True to my moniker I wear a lot of orange but I found this year’s to be far too harsh .

Dee1224 · 17/09/2023 20:00

Thanks @dudsville !

@AFingerofFudge - I second you trying them on with a variety of outfits and posting some pics.

However, I also think that, if you really like them, you should keep and wear more often. I read something recently about being careful when shedding good quality clothes as they can be very hard to replace due to lowering manufacturing standards!

Dee1224 · 17/09/2023 20:01

Indeed @OftenOrange 😹

faustina · 17/09/2023 20:18

@Snowyowl78 - thank you. I've made a note of it

@AFingerofFudge I was thinking of jackets earlier too. I suppose it depends a bit on your lifestyle, although it's always useful to have something smarter that you'd normally wear even if you don't often wear it. Maybe if you wear a lot of navy you don't need to do a cull at all? Do they all serve a different purpose/work with different things? (trousers, dresses etc)

I'm not going to sell any outerwear until it's cold enough to wear them and judge properly (unworn corduroy jackets from the last sale, you can rest easy for the time being 😀)

dudsville · 17/09/2023 20:39

I love toast spotting. Off the back of another thread i just googled someone i didn't know (singer of a band called Texas) and saw this pic! I have and love this tee.

Sharlene Spiteri @dudsville ?

clowniform · 17/09/2023 20:57

Lovely trial outfits @dudsville can I ask how tall you are? The proportions with the layered Frith look really nice on you, so shan't report you to the NSPAT this time (natl soc of prevention of alterations to Toast)😉
YY to Mrs Maisel goals, and I'm partial to Susie's style too.

Sounds like a fab outing @Dee1224 I'm mumsnetting on top of last year's version of that quilt right now!

Rats @Snowyowl78 I just ordered from BdC! Hope someone else can make use of the code. For other Toasties who like this sort of thing, Brady bags are having a pop-up in Labour and Wait Marylebone at the mo.

I have, after a shed load of encouragement and support from some lovely online friends and a lot of pushing from my dd and DH booked to go to Spain for 5 weeks. We leave two weeks today and we (DH and me) will be travelling round the area from Malaga to Cadiz. For various complex reasons I won’t bore you with, this is a huge deal for me. Vast. So now I’m wondering if I need the pond cullotes. Need being a very loose term.

It’s a beautiful quilt @clowniform.

Meanwhile, I am kicking myself for not taking more things in to ‘circle’. That Lydia dress should have been able to come home with me😿

On the plus side: Next sale I will be pouncing on one if they are reduced!

AFingerofFudge · 17/09/2023 21:13

Ooh well done @ilovecherries ; whatever the reasons (and we don't need to know) if it's out of your comfort zone then it can be a bit of a big deal, so well done for taking that step!
And of course you need the culottes!!

Dee1224 · 17/09/2023 21:13

Have a wonderful trip @ilovecherries !

AFingerofFudge · 17/09/2023 21:14

Right. Thanks for all the advice, I think for now I ought to hang on to all of them as this is the jacket type season now it's cooled down a bit. I might reassess in a month when I see what I've actually made use of!

mizu · 17/09/2023 21:37

I went to a TOAST Circle event too and swapped a very old sample dress for this lovely cord skirt. I've got it in denim so knew it would be a good fit. Also got a striped top as they are always useful.

The staff there said they'd never seen it so busy!

This jumper was 😍 such lovely colours in it.

Saurus72 · 17/09/2023 21:49

@ilovecherries i hope you love your trip - we did that area last year and really enjoyed it. Jerez is lovely, close to Cadiz, as is Cordoba and Seville - but the latter is v v busy, depends if you like big cities or not.

Stoic123 · 17/09/2023 22:12

@ilovecherries - the Pond Check Culottes will perfect for walking around the Alhambra 😀

Enjoy- sounds fabulous.

Firesideknitting · 17/09/2023 22:14

@Dee1224, my son was laid under that quilt today(he didn’t want his face shown). It’s a really good size too …

dudsville · 17/09/2023 22:21

How wonderful@ilovecherries , you need the culottes!

Thanks@clowniform, I used to be 5'7", but somehow I've lost 1/4 of an inch along the way.

dudsville · 17/09/2023 22:26

Love that cord skirt and jumper @mizu , don't want to be enabling but they would look nice together!

Dee1224 · 17/09/2023 22:31

Looks lovely @Firesideknitting ! I hope it goes in a sale at some point 🤞
