Would anyone like to join in on a 100 day princessing journey?

100 days from today is 1st December so a perfect time to start our princessing journeys. I’m overweight, constantly tired and feel generally rubbish about myself. I want to make this a priority so hopefully posting here will make all of us a little accountable and we can all support each other…

@Sweetum I was people (clothes) watching yesterday on my walk back from work and I noticed that the most put together people weren’t necessarily the most fashionable, it was those who’s clothes looked like good quality. It’s made me think that it’s better to buy a few high quality (more pricey) clothes items than buying cheaper things that don’t look as good. So if you really like those leggings and can afford it, go for it!

@Notveryanything big congrats on your new job. I’m trying to sort out my work clothes to look more polished in the office. Starting a new job is a great opportunity to have a wardrobe refresh.

@MotherWol well done on your weight loss journey! What have you been doing to lose it?

@mamatoTails Sounds like you’ve had an amazing day! I’m really bad at washing face, so well done!

merryhouse · 24/08/2023 18:01

Well, I made a start.

Closed the tab for Tattle

Went to bed at 10:45, but didn't really get to sleep much earlier and woke at stupid-o-clock. Never mind, it's a long-term thing

Spent lunchtime looking up weight training but came to the conclusion I might as well do push-ups etc for now

Only had one small piece of the chocolate chip cookies at work (from Gregg's - they are delicious)

Spent ten minutes doing push-ups etc! I know it doesn't seem much but I am very out of condition

Spent 15 minutes stretching

About to have dinner, but afterwards I will do the crossword. Really.

I’m in! Marking my place. Will be back with goal
later this evening.

Jekiffe · 24/08/2023 18:34

YY to trying to eat high protein/high fat. I get terrible sugar cravings in the evening and that type of eating seems to help with that.

My things are: getting a haircut booked, booking in some get togethers with friends over next 100 days, getting on top of my cluttery wardrobe, doing some kind of regular exercise to make it a habit on top of walking each day.

MotherWol · 24/08/2023 19:06

@xeren thank you! I’m finally shifting the baby weight as DD’s turned 2! Using MyFitnessPal to track what I eat, aiming for high protein, lots of fruit and vegetables, moderate carbs. Keeping an eye on sugar and avoiding snacking in the evening has been the biggest thing for me. I had diabetes in pregnancy so my goal is to get to a healthy weight and keep it off so I can reduce my risk of T2.

Poblano · 24/08/2023 19:09

I'm in. I always find this time of year the best time to start new habits, it's that back-to-school feeling I think.

I started a new job in the Spring and it has thrown my routines a bit. At the same time I need to look a bit more professional in this job than my last one. I'm also away with work a lot, which makes it harder to eat healthily and exercise.

This week I'm on annual leave and I've gone through my wardrobe and got rid of things I don't wear any more. I've then sorted my work wardrobe into a kind of capsule, cataloguing everything on Pinterest so that I can see what I have and what works as outfits. Hopefully this will stop me staring into the abyss and deciding I have nothing to wear.

I usually pretty good with skincare, but I have got a bit lazy with it over the summer. So making sure I cleanse and moisturise every morning and night needs to go on the list.

I also need to eat more healthily. I used to make lovely salads and take them to work in my old job, but now I frequently end up in the office coffee shop buying a cheese panini. I need to be more organised and start taking my own food in again.

I used to swim before work 3 mornings a week but am finding that harder now too in the new office. I also used to do a pilates class one lunchtime in my old job, but I always seem to have meeting clashes now. Again, I think I just need to get back into the routine.

So my list is all the obvious stuff really: dress well, eat more healthily, skincare, exercise. Simple, right? 🤔

Hibernatalie · 24/08/2023 22:57

I did my 2nd couch to 5k run today. Felt great. I also avoided sugar and alcohol, and cleansed and moisturised. Little steps!

JaneFoster · 24/08/2023 23:46

I would also love to join a princessing thread... have plenty to work on, it may take considerably more than 100 days Confused

@Poblano my routines need an overhaul too after starting a new job! I'm WFH so don't need the smart office clothes so much, but would prefer not to look quite as much like a bag lady the rest of the time...

If anyone has a skin tag remover recommendation that would be really useful, I can see a few PP had the same issue. I bought the one which uses bands but most of my skin tags are too tiny for it to be any use, and the bands just fall off the bigger ones Angry

Supercat100 · 25/08/2023 09:51

Yesterday was a write off with pasta and wine but I had an apple and nuts for breakfast and am going to a spin class at lunchtime. My skincare routine is more regular though and I'm showering every day - recently it was every other day due to a general lack of care due to mental health. I'm also revamping my wardrobe and embracing the dark academia style.

50fedup · 25/08/2023 11:40

I’d like to belatedly join you. I need to lose 8+ kilos and tone up. Wine is my downfall and with wine comes salty snacks (peanuts, crisps and cheese + crackers). I’m in the process of decluttering and have vowed not to buy anything new for the next 3 months. I have a few trips away in the next month, which may de-rail things, but will be totally focussed after that 😀

Nuffaluff · 25/08/2023 12:05

@Supercat100
I’m glad to hear you are improving your mental health through this. Just showering every day must be making a huge difference to your well-being. I was struggling a bit with my mental health quite recently but it was work-related and I’m starting a new job next week. I wasn’t looking after myself though.
@50fedup
I’m decluttering too. When I get rid of a few things it makes me fresh good!
I’ve been quite good with skincare for a while but now I’m trying to be more mindful with, especially in the evenings when I have more time. I’m treating it more like a ritual, taking time to inhale the fragrance of my lovely lotions and potions!

Wine for me too! But I am going sober for 100 days. And have also decluttered to the tune of £1200 on eBay!!! About 3/4 of the way through thank goodness as it’s testing my patience!

50fedup · 25/08/2023 14:23

@NuffaluffWell I’ve just failed. Nipped out to the shops in my lunch break and purchased a pair of M&S, fuchsia pink, pony skin cloggs for £8.99 ( down from £50). To compensate I’m going to throw out two old pairs of sandals.
@Silverdogblue £1200! That’s amazing! An to think that I was chuffed with the £130 I’ve sold on Vinted 😀

SushiSuave · 25/08/2023 17:22

I'm having a day off from the healthy eating today as we are having an Indian takeaway tonight. However, I spent an hour doing my nails this afternoon to make up for it! I bought this today and would highly recommend. I'm going to keep it on my bedside table and apply every night before bed and I'm sadly excited about it!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 25/08/2023 17:37

I’ve not really been princessing yet as I am away with my boys and my parents in my parents caravan. It’s not exactly princess territory! I’m could do with a shower and when I get home I need to sort my roots out desperately . I have been eating well though. I’ve been doing a Whole30, I’m actually on day 20 today- previous rounds I’ve felt absolutely awesome by this stage, but this round I feel less perky, I’m tired, I’m struggling with my other health woes. However I’m keeping on, and that’s 20 days of no bread, no sugar, no alcohol and no junk food at all, so it’s got to be doing me good. I forgot my running trainers as well so I’ve had a total enforced rest from running which has also probably done me good.

Silverdogblue · 25/08/2023 17:50

Some advice please! I almost always have painted toenails but am really not used to having my fingernails done, I’d like to get a mani with the more resilient nail varnish, is it possible to get that in clear? Or would I be better off with something very pale?

If it’s very colourful, it looks like they are someone else’s hands and I take it off within a few hours!!

Poblano · 25/08/2023 18:50

Today hasn't been a bad day. Ate reasonably healthily: berries and greek yoghurt for breakfast, halloumi and beetroot salad for lunch, salmon with new potatoes, tenderstem broccoli and green beans for dinner. Went for a longish walk this afternoon.

Need to sort my nails out as I did some clearing in the garden this morning and they are still filthy even after scrubbing them. Luckily I'd removed my nail varnish before starting!

You could get gel polish which lasts longer than regular polish. Nail salons have literally hundreds of colours if you were wanting to go and get them done. I have a sensational gel nail kit but find them a pain to remove at home so don't often use it. I tend to use the Rimmel Super Gel. You use the colour and then the top coat and it does last a bit longer than just ordinary nail polish without any lights etc. you just use normal nail polish remover to take off. My day to day is their English Rose. It looks almost clear when on, just a very slight pinky tone when you apply 2 coats. I'll try and post a pic below - it's not letting me here for some reason.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 25/08/2023 20:16

I was lurking on the Back To School thread , but only loosely as I don't have school age DC and I'm looking at a target of October holiday .

I need to think of an add-on list I can stick to . If you add one/two new Must Do's at a time it's easier .

I'm good with water and don't drink any alcohol.

I'm doing a weekly hair mask ( PK Elasticiser or similar) in a sweaty little plastic hat for 30 minutes <glamour>
My hair is starting to grow back after loss following illness

I need to set aside some time to wax/epilate

Dye my brows

I have bought the best exfoliant I have ever used (SKINN Non Negotiables) I was looking for something to replace M&S Formula Radience Peel .

I need to sort through clothes , decide what to take on holiday ( and not overpack !)

And I need to look at make-up which will suit me .

That's enough to be going on with for now .

Silverdogblue · 25/08/2023 20:55

@SushiSuave thank you SO much. That’s brilliant.

MotherWol · 25/08/2023 21:06

Couple of days in, and so far, so good. I’ve been taking my vitamins, remembering my skincare, and leaving my phone downstairs at bedtime so I don’t doom scroll in bed. Went for a bike ride with DH today so that counts as exercise!

OuiLaLa · 25/08/2023 21:21

Please can I join too? I love these threads and needs help/inspiration! My younger one is under investigations for all sorts of problems (and one looks quite serious) and we have upheaval with older one starting school and it leaves me almost no time but I have a big birthday coming up soon and I need to find a little time for me even if I am the bottom of the list!

daily vitamins
drink more water, starting with two pints a day
cut out my daily can of coke
try the skin tag pen!
One treat a day
bed at 9.30
revive my meal plan
get my online shopping sorted
walk or do 20 mins on the exercise bike
one small project a day

Its not very ambitious but it might be manageable!

Id say manageable and not too ambitious is ideal! Then as it slowly becomes a regular part of your routine you might look to add more in. I definitely need to drink more water and less Diet Coke, but I find the Diet Coke stops my sugar cravings. Perhaps I'll save my Diet Coke for after dinner and drink water during the day.

OoohLaLaLa · 25/08/2023 21:49

In!

  1. Get hair coloured and wear it down.
  2. Wear earrings
  3. Use fake tan. I know- but I look a million times better golden and it masks the rosacea!
  4. Foot peel sock thingies
  5. An exercise everyday.
  6. File my nails
  7. no school night drinking
  8. lost 21lbs
  9. get some lovely underwear
  10. Only buy good clothes
  11. If all the above achieved I will buy myself a lovely expensive watch for Christmas
