Would anyone like to join in on a 100 day princessing journey?

100 days from today is 1st December so a perfect time to start our princessing journeys. I’m overweight, constantly tired and feel generally rubbish about myself. I want to make this a priority so hopefully posting here will make all of us a little accountable and we can all support each other…

Doing well here, water intake right up, steps going up, vitamins taken etc, also, turning the shower down to freezing every morning, its a bloody shock to the system but it really does make a difference to me, much more alert, awake, more sort of alive iyswim? Doing really well with cutting down on the wine, so pleased, feeling much better mentally.

Next week I'm going to join a gym, I would really like to tone up ad build my bone density, I'm 60 so really need to think carefully about my long term health (also vanity! Grin, I really really want to 'look good' for my age)

Xeren · 25/08/2023 23:19

You lot have inspired me to actually wash my face, so thank you! 💐

thenewaveragebear1983 · 26/08/2023 07:33

I have caught up on all the posts now and I need to add - I need to get a bra measured!
when I get home after this bank holiday I need to colour my hair as well, and just generally tidy myself up a bit.
I’m starting my HRT patches tomorrow and half of me is dreading it, but I do so want to feel better.

PersephonePomegranate23 · 26/08/2023 08:13

Morning!

I'm down for this! I actually started making changes at the beginning of the summer holidays, but I'm sliding and could do with some fresh motivation.

Things I've kept up:
Lost about 8lb
Improved my diet - eating much more fruit and veg
Weekly manicure and face mask at home
Daily moisturising after shower
Looking after my naturally disgusting feet

Things that are sliding:
Water vs caffeine consumption
Weight loss has halted, more unhealthy things creeping into my diet
Exercise
Sleep

Written down, I can see how interlinked the things I'm failing on right now are!

Poblano · 26/08/2023 12:07

Went out for breakfast this morning so not entirely healthy, although what I ordered (poached egg, mushrooms, tomatoes and labneh on sourdough toast) did at least contain plenty of protein and vegetables. No excuses for the cinnamon buns I picked up to take home though... I have lots more sorting to do in the garden this afternoon so hopefully will work off enough calories wheeling stuff to the skip to justify eating one with my afternoon coffee!

I've just signed up for the early access email for the No7 advent calendars. Although I should probably check how much I have left from last year's one before ordering. I do find the miniatures useful for when I'm away with work.

Supercat100 · 26/08/2023 12:13

Doing ok in some ways. Skin routine is good and I showered and used hand cream this morning. Am just off to do some serious washing of bed clothes etc so things feel and smell fresh. I've overeaten and had too much wine yesterday but it was our anniversary so small steps. I also brought a really nice new mascara.

merryhouse · 26/08/2023 13:42

I've kept up the crossword. Well, haven't done today's because it's a special BH Weekend one so will need printing out. Will do that in a bit, along with those from earlier BH Weekends. Took a book to work on Friday and read a couple of chapters (oh, and I wrote the review of the last one).

Didn't practise a kata this morning because H didn't actually do his run (MiL is visiting, things are out of routine). But we don't have a class on Monday so maybe I'll do it then instead.

Didn't quite do 10:45 on Thursday night, as we were chatting till just after and then there were 4 of us wanting to use the facilities all at once. Didn't manage last night either, as we indulged a bit and then chatted once son came home. Actually went up at 12:15, oops.

Took varnish off toes, cut nails and rubbed almond oil into cuticles (as well as my now-habitual body lotion on feet). As we don't have a class this week I'll give them a few days' breather before repainting.

@thenewaveragebear1983 I need new bras too - I've been putting everything off while my weight settles but I suspect I'm about there now. Measured this morning, need to plan a trip to M&S to try things on. Need more pants too, but that's much simpler.

Also need to book a mammogram, now 5 months overdue. (Had my first one early in first lockdown, bit weird.)

TotalOverhaul · 26/08/2023 14:46

@merryhouse you're doing well! Just reading your post reminded me I had promised myself I would look after my feet. Proper pumicing and moisturising.

And this thread has reminded me i need new underwear too.

My hands are in a bad way. Very dry skin despite constant moisturising. And brittle nails. I will give them a massage with almond oil and repaint my nails this afternoon.

Haircut finally booked - I put it off because I live in hope of discovering a new cut that would suit me instead of the usual bob.

Walked every day this week. Not 10k, but better than nothing. Fresh air for an hour every day is better than I usually manage.

Stuck to lowish carb and lost 3-4lb.

OuiLaLa · 26/08/2023 19:51

Keeping up my accountability, have stuck to one treat a day and about to do an meal
plan for this week and an online food order.

have unpacked after hols and started on the enormous washing pile. Reckon it’s a five wash pile 😮‍💨

but I have done my ‘one thing’ and that was to completely clean out the horror fridge. Only about 8 things survived 😂 so it looks amazing right now!

onedaysoonish · 26/08/2023 20:44

This thread feels like the perfect thing for a bit of accountability! I'm trying to have a bit of a metamorphosis before I move to a new country - I want to be me version 2.0!!

My list is

  • drink 3l water a day
  • exercise 4 x a week
  • put iPhone away at 9pm and read a book
  • be conscious of posture and improve it!!
  • stop eating sugar/white carbs/general crap
  • moisturise
  • get rid of all the stuff I don't wear and really think about what I need for a constant summer capsule wardrobe - buying less and better etc
70isaLimitNotaTarget · 27/08/2023 00:30

Last week I was having a fadd about with my eyeshadows . I did watch a You Tube video , something about common mistakes made by the over 50s .

I always used to do colour on the lid , darker in the crease line and light on the brow bone . But that us wrong when you have a mature eye . You need to use the light and dark to recede different areas .

Gave it a try , and I can see , yes it works !
But my shimmery eyeshaows looked a bit rubbish on my eyes and I;m not a fan of cream eyeshadows in case they crease .
So the search goes on !

Only babysteps here :

  • washed hair and styled it
  • actually thought about my clothes rather than leggings so looked a ton better
  • only blip is I think I'm an 18 now. I used to wear a 16 for looseness but I'm a size bigger. Do I hope to lose weight or buy clothes that fit me!?

I am struggling with this. Though I am bigger. I need autumn clothes. I have some lovely ones. But all too small.

I don’t even know where to look for work clothes of size 20. Not sure what to do

BuddhaAtSea · 27/08/2023 08:50

In between 2 night shifts I tackled my manicure and pedicure. I need glasses to see my cuticles, fml!!! And discovered the joy of trying to cut your toenails wearing verifocals. Whether I left a corner of a nail in is anyone’s guess, I’ll find out when it starts digging into the flesh.

With my hair down you can’t tell I have grey hairs. Lift it up and I look like a haggard bag lady, the grays’s texture makes it look like I I have frizzy hair that I haven’t washed in weeks. Is there something I can use to tame the greys, does anyone know?

I put on some music and started dancing round the house (Las Ketchup, remember them 😂) because that’s what you do after 5 hours of sleep in 48h. I was talking to a colleague in the middle of the night, I switched from a bag of revels and a can of pop to banana with peanut butter and a water bottle and she looks at me and goes: give us the jar, and we sat there and ate peanut butter with a teaspoon like two loonies. It was a small jar. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Today I’ll paint my nail, is white on toenails still ok or did we stop that in the 80s? I’m seriously tanned, they look ok with white.

Must remember to have decaf today, I need to sleep tonight.

Supercat100 · 27/08/2023 11:03

Accountability check in: the good stuff is my skin routine, I'm going to a Body Balance class this afternoon and I had a healthy breakfast. Also threw out a load of old clothes yesterday. The bad is that I'm not drinking enough water. I also got some blood test results back which showed I'm very iron deficient again which explains a few symptoms, so I need to prioritise my diet etc.

Minnie123456 · 27/08/2023 11:15

Wee bit late but can I join? I was on one of these threads before but completely fell off it. Few goals for now
-restart a simple skin care routine, since coming back from holiday 4 weeks ago I've just been using aloe vera gel.

-stop bitting my nails and use my nail oil. My nails are weak after getting gels done and I've been bitting them constantly

-stop going to bed with my hair wet, such a bad habit but I hate drying it.

-moisturise after shower/bath

-actually take my vitamins

-eat more fruit, drink more water

-try and get more sleep

-less snacking

-less screen time, my phone gives me a weekly report on how much i've used my phone

Minnie123456 · 27/08/2023 11:21

Just thought of another one
-moisurise my neck and chest area, have noticed it's starting to look a little wrinkly although not sure if it's because my tan is fading.

PetitPorpoise · 27/08/2023 11:30

This weekend I have:

  • been to a Spin class on Sat & Sun morning
  • done a hair oil mask and about to wash and style my hair
  • will apply moisturiser and make up after my shower
  • applied fake tan
  • no alcohol
  • no processed food

I really need to book a hair appointment asap. It hasn't been cut for a year. My hair barely grows because of breakage but it's so straggly at the ends.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 27/08/2023 13:34

Oh another one for my list:
Use the Korean Italy Cloths . They are Game-Changer status in how brilliant they are for peeling off skin on the body . Much better than those white exfoliant gloves , they make my skin feel itchy and a size too small .
The amount of skin that pills off is amazing and my bum feels like a baby's !

Only downside to the KI Cloths is you need a 30 minute hot bath soak with no product . I'm not a fan of a bath (showers so much better) and a non-bubble bath even worse .
But it needs to be done !

newyorkinthefall · 27/08/2023 17:34

Day 5

I’m here!! I’m so sorry I started this thread then got ill with covid and left all you lovely ladies to it. I have read every single post and would have loved to reply to everyone as you are all so inspirational and there are so many great ideas here. We all sound like we deserve to give ourselves some TLC and lots of you sound like you have made great efforts in the right direction and I really hope to be able to say that myself soon.

Covid totally floored me this time round and I haven’t done anything I had planned to do this week and there has not been a single bit of princessing done. Well, I did rejoin Slimming World yesterday but that is literally it.

Tonight I’m going to set out plans for the week of what and when I’m going to do things. I’ve also seen a job I would like to apply for (basically the same job as I do now but with better money) so I need to work on the application. There’s plenty of time but I don’t want to leave it until the last minute.

For anyone asking about the skin tag pen it’s this one from Amazon. I’ve tried all sorts in the past and so far this has been the best.

@70isaLimitNotaTarget if you use your Korean cloth in the shower you can use cheap body lotion on the cloth instead of shower gel and scrub yourself all over with the cloth while you’re in the shower, you come out clean AND moisturised!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 27/08/2023 21:27

I've tried after a shower but I didn't get the skin off like a soak .
I'm going to just bite the bullet and run a hot bath soon.

(And I have to get DH in to do my back as I cannot reach and I've got scars I need to avoid )

Xeren · 28/08/2023 09:59

I’ve applied hair oil and a face mask this week (I want to keep it as a regular weekly thing).

I’ve also stuck to walking home from work, which I really enjoy. I do an office job where I sit a lot so walking a good hour with a good podcast is a nice way to wind down.

My diet hasn’t been great. I’ve tried to stick to fruit and yogurt during the work day but feel a bit ‘empty’ if that makes sense. Not hungry, but empty. I think it’s a more mental thing about feeling that I should eat something ‘heavier’.

Xeren · 28/08/2023 10:02

Jekiffe · 24/08/2023 18:34

YY to trying to eat high protein/high fat. I get terrible sugar cravings in the evening and that type of eating seems to help with that.

My things are: getting a haircut booked, booking in some get togethers with friends over next 100 days, getting on top of my cluttery wardrobe, doing some kind of regular exercise to make it a habit on top of walking each day.

Oh lovely! I think having get togethers is the perfect excuse to dress up!

Xeren · 28/08/2023 10:04

MotherWol · 24/08/2023 19:06

@xeren thank you! I’m finally shifting the baby weight as DD’s turned 2! Using MyFitnessPal to track what I eat, aiming for high protein, lots of fruit and vegetables, moderate carbs. Keeping an eye on sugar and avoiding snacking in the evening has been the biggest thing for me. I had diabetes in pregnancy so my goal is to get to a healthy weight and keep it off so I can reduce my risk of T2.

That sounds great. I have a calorie counter app but I stopped using it over the summer holidays. I plan to restart it again now we’re back to ‘normal’ life.

I think there’s no short-cut to weight loss and health. It’s really eating well and cutting down on sugar.
