@PretLea I’m sorry to hear about your dress but please keep an open mind - Toast repairs can be amazing. The dress won’t look the same again but you may learn to love it in a different way. I had a fine needlecord dress in taupe which I ripped on a rusty nail as I walked through a gate, in the front centre of the dress. I told repairs they could do what they wanted with it because I thought it was fit for the bin. They did some very fine needlework with a sort of blackberry colour thread and it really worked! I’ve worn and enjoyed the dress many times since. Sometimes a contrast works better than trying to match.

Stoic123 · 30/08/2023 21:11

@Noodle421 - didn't try the dress on as the shop didn't have right size in stock. The colours definitely suit me and I think it looks even better in real life than the online photos.

I will report back when it arrives.

@Stoic123 I’m so happy with my green dotty print crepe dress, I’m seriously considering the Bryn Radicchio dress too. I think both dresses would work for absolutely any occasion, all year round. Not really being a dress person, I’ve not given it a second glance until now. Have you tried it on ? Has it had good reviews on here do you know ( any of the Bryn dresses) ? I think the colours are stunning. I’m very much a jumper and jeans person so this is quite a departure !

I’ve got both of those dresses and really pleased with the. I bought a 12 in the dotty dress and there’s loads of room in it, could probably have gone down a size. Had to get the large in the Bryn.

MiracleToast · 30/08/2023 20:41

@PretLea it’s quite addictive. I even found myself ironing today before taking pictures to upload… I haven’t ironed in years!

I’ve never owned a iron, always petrified of frying the fibres or getting burnt. But I do quite enjoy the slightly crumpled, straight out of bed look I’ve adopted as a result.

PretLea · 30/08/2023 21:29

Thanks for the reassurance @Noodle421 I’ll leave it up to them to decide what’ll work best. I often think a visible mend looks really nice, but hard to imagine what could work on that light shade of linen.

ScottishMouse · 30/08/2023 21:31

Well, I have narrowed my wishlist down to a mere ten items from the latest drop. 🤣

I will try to go and try them on this week or next in store, and hope that at least 8 of them are no good. I am pretty hard to please, so this might be achievable.

Good to know thank you. I’ve also got the 12 in the dotty - roomy but don’t think I could go down a size. Sounds like I’d be a large in the Radicchio too. It will have to stay on my wish list for a little while. I do struggle to find something to dress up in when the occasion requires so hopefully these two dresses will fill that gap.

neveradullmoment99 · 30/08/2023 21:38

I just like the cord dress. There are a lot of pinfores this drop. The cord one is the only one that I like the most atm and tbh, its still a little warm to wear it.
I do love the cord jacket too. That is about it. Ive so many jumpers. I really do not need to add to them.

Noodle421 · 30/08/2023 21:38

@Stoic123 would love to hear your feedback when the dress arrives.

neveradullmoment99 · 30/08/2023 21:39

Ive found a hole in my heathery red Toast cardigan. Well actually two. The first one is at the seam. So it is basically falling apart. The other is harder to tell. Can't be moths as they are in clear pretty airtight boxes. Wondering if it has caught something. Looks like an easy repair so will do both myself.

neveradullmoment99 · 30/08/2023 21:44

Oh and of course I absolutely love love love the wool houndstooth raglan coat but it is £££

mizu · 30/08/2023 21:56

@dudsville oh my goodness that coat 😍

Is this the new neat cardigan ??

No. Its one that I have had for years but I didn't notice a hole in it when I had it out last. Its always very annoying when this happens. It must be about 4 years old. I don't really overwear it though. I don't have that many Toast cardigans. Its shetland wool so has the itch factor but it is a really lovely colour of red and I love the style.

Yes, that is annoying but hopefully sounds reasonably easy to fix. I was going to say return it if it was one of the new ones. It sounds lovely.

dudsville · 31/08/2023 07:26

@neveradullmoment99, that's annoying. I had something similar a couple of years ago with a jumper from the Scottish company toast pair with, Hartley? Need more coffee.

Re the amazing green coat, I had to nip outside briefly after sunset yesterday in my nightdress and popped on my orange dogtooth wool coat from a sale a couple of years ago. I love it so much and was wondering whether I have room for a second glorious wool coat. There are times when the weather is perfect for it but the colour doesn't work with what I'm wearing. I really liked the blue check of a couple of years ago but when i saw it in person it didn't excite me. I think this might. Does anyone recall the price of the blue one? I thought it was £6??, really prohibitive, and that this I've coming in at £4?? was a better price comparatively, but i might be making that up?

Countmeout · 31/08/2023 08:06

Was that a large check blue one @dudsville ? I don’t know if I can remember. I do remember they used to be about the mid 3 hundred mark and then made quite a leap.
The green coat is like my Millar I think in another colour and minus the belt which I’ve never considered using. I think it was originally £585 ( mine is sale obvs)

The blanket coat is wonderful.

I really like this https://www.toa.st/products/short-a-line-indigo-coat-indigo will have to be sale for me

I could do with one of these in my wardrobe but this colour is definitely not my colour . Hope it comes in another later.

Made one purchase. The random wool hat, so different from anything I could get locally. I loved the tank in the video but don’t need another tank and it’s too spendy.

Hope the repair turns out well for you @PretLea . The repairs are wonderful and it is such a great service.

@Countmeout , the one I'm thinking of someone bought and it became known a the ruinous (financially) coat, and the proceeded to agree quickly. I think it appeared in the last winter sale briefly as did the green buffalo check. Maybe I'm just trying to justify an expensive purchase. I'll pop into a shop when I'm next able to have a look.

I'm really curious about the trousers in the pic you linked to. They're featured in a few pics but not up as an item itself yet.

The wool hat you've bought is cute! I'm thinking about getting some of the fingerless gloves.

dudsville · 31/08/2023 08:21

Awhile ago i bought and returned I the mono black DMs as didn't like the fit. I see toast have a fracap version at 2.5 times the price. Would I notice the better quality?

dudsville · 31/08/2023 08:42

Oh, how did i miss that, thank you @Theteapotsbrokenspout! I was hoping they'd be brushed cotton or a cashmere mix. In sure the design is not one I'll like but I'm curious about them.

PretLea · 31/08/2023 09:58

I was wondering if anyone might have one of those wool tencel high neck tees? I think I remember seeing them last year. I definitely think they’d be a wardrobe staple for layering? Do they wear and wash well? Shrink? Stretch?

MsDastardley · 31/08/2023 10:15

I ordered the denim panelled trousers yesterday and have had an email to say they have been despatched.

I like the look of the denim dress, so might try that next. I love the blanket coat, the green check coat, and the blue swing jacket. Also eyeing up the Sturlini tread boots.

've already blown my budget for this month, so sitting tight for a bit!

I love mine - particularly the neck - provides coverage without being constricting. I wear them under shirts/dresses/jumpers etc or as stand alone pieces under my slate grey linen pinafore dress. The sleeves can fray at the cuffs - Toast are aware of this, it was an ongoing complaint in earlier reviews. There is because there is no finished edge, this is deliberate apparently. One of mine frayed and it was replaced and so far no further problems. I tried to sew a small rolled cuff myself but it looked wrong and detracted from the simplicity of the top so I unpicked it. Hopefully the problem has been addressed in the newer versions. I do wonder whether I could’ve picked up something from Uniqlo at a snip of the price ( my friend lives in hers) but overall I’m very happy as these serve as stand alone pieces as well as for warmth layering, so justify the extra expense I think. If you are looking for super warmth, something more thermal may be better.

Noodle421 · 31/08/2023 10:38

@PretLea they do loosen slightly on wearing but snap back to shape after washing. I’ve had no problem with shrinkage and I use a delicate wash.
