Thread to discuss and compare 2023 Beauty Advent contents. Started because Liberty has already published their contents.

I’m almost doubting myself but (as I’ve just posted on the Beauty Drop thread) — surely that isn’t the contents for this coming year’s Liberty advent. It’s a list of last year’s contents. That’s why it looks like stuff you’ve seen before.

It says so on the page you’ve linked to, right?

Everyone seems to be reading it differently from me though so I’m starting to feel confused 👀

Same 😁

OchonAgusOchonOh · 27/07/2023 17:59

Based on the photo, I'm not really feeling the Liberty one. The hair clips, bracelet and mirror are definite drawers of doom, the colour of the blusher won't suit me and I have about 563 lipsticks in that shade (or so dd tells me).

Thanks fro starting the thread @Stoic123 .

Hello! I was a late joiner last year but got the LiB one at a great price. I really liked it, surprised I haven't ended up on their mailing list for the kits so should check those out!
I've just done a Cult Beauty order (repurchased a few things from LiB AC) and got a hefty GWP which had some nice things, and will pop them into last year's empty calendar box, along with some other freebies I have (or plan to get!). I'm aiming to get it filled soon so I forget what's in there.
That's the plan, but I do have a milestone birthday in November so who knows, I may cave and get another calendar!

I’m on the fence on Liberty. Very early to commit with no other calendar reveals available yet - although the F&M photo gives a good idea of what may in it too, and it usually goes on sale in August. I’ll definitely be starting my spreadsheet analysis tonight to help.

I will say the new Liberty calendar box looks great. The F&M one also has a really nice design this year. I’ve seen a sign up advert with box design for the CB calendar too - another attractive box. Looks like even if the contents aren’t overwhelming, we’ll be able to enjoy some really pretty boxes this year 🙂

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 01/08/2023 13:14

I scratched my fancy calendar itch last year with the Liberty one using my BD credit so reckon this year I'm going to try JUST M and S.

I've stuck with the Beauty Drop so may use my credit on their jewellery sale.

I must say Liberty customer service is fantastic. I've had issues with non delivery of boxes, empty advent drawers and faulty product packaging and they've replaced every time, no quibble. Brilliant

But yes just the M and S for me so I'll be enjoying hearing about the luxe ones you ate all buying'

wheresmyshoe · 01/08/2023 13:22

I think there are too many Drawers of Disappointment for me on Liberty this year, even with my BD credit. I'm just not excited by it, there are only a couple of wow items. I may warm up to it but suspect that if there's a great GWP in Sept then that's where my credit will be going.

Blossomtoes · 01/08/2023 13:26

Same. I feel distinctly underwhelmed this year.

QueefofSheena · 01/08/2023 13:45

I’ve ordered Liberty as I’ve always wanted one. I’m also waiting to see what the Flannels one looks like and I always wait for Mac to be reduced then miss out. I’ve already accepted that it’s going to be a calendar heavy year, but I’ll gift some of it and oldest DS has got really into skin care after years of soap dodging 😁he can share some.

MavisMcMinty · 01/08/2023 14:22

I only have £100 in my BD account so think I’ll give the Liberty calendar a miss this year and have the full credit available for next years’s AC or an excellent GWP. This is very unlike me, but I do have 100+ new products from my recent birthday haul, and think I’m just all shopped out. Had to fill my LiB subscription box earlier and it took ages, there’s so little I want and nothing I actually need!

RotundRuby · 01/08/2023 14:42

I just got the email about the Liberty one, can't say I'm at all interested. Anyone else sick to death of bloody Augustinus Bader! Think I’ll wait to see what Space, Harrods and CB are doing although Fortnums looks appealing.

I have the BD because I'm a regular at Liberty so I know I'll spend the money either way. Not an advent calendar thing but if you're near Liberty and have the BD, they did a discount early in the year and I took myself for lunch then used BD to treat myself. Was a lovely way to brighten up the most grim time of year. I’ll be doing the same in Jan 2024 to get Ormaie Yvonne.

@SwordBilledHummingbird I own Poets of Berlin but can't say I get a whiff of David Bowie when I use it! Its quite a warm scent, Fragrantica is pretty good as a resource.

Peridot1 · 01/08/2023 14:43

I’m not blown away by the Liberty calendar so may not buy even though I’ve saved my Beauty Drop credit for it. As you say @MavisMcMinty - if I save it I will have the full price next year. I haven’t spent any of mine so have £160 currently. So maybe something in the sale after Christmas and look again next year. When I’m also not drowning in products!

RotundRuby · 01/08/2023 14:56

Also does anyone know if now that Sephora is in the UK they will make one? I know advents aren't really a thing internationally.

Peridot1 · 01/08/2023 15:23

@RotundRuby - they did some last year as far as I remember.

Hopefully this year they will ship to Ireland as I quite liked the look of them last year.

MavisMcMinty · 01/08/2023 16:10

Wow! And £139 (last year) is half the price (near enough) of the Liberty AC - thanks for the link, might get the Sephora one.

Possimpible · 01/08/2023 16:17

Can't believe it's that time already! I had LiB, Flannels (got it at the discounted price) and H&B last year and I still have at least 50% of it unused, so I can't really justify one this year. But that probably won't stop me, pretty sure I said the same thing last year! (Have NC'ed, good to see some old faces)

Stoic123 · 01/08/2023 16:56

The Sephora one looked really good value- I think it sold out pretty much instantly last year.

Look Fantastic

Too many DOD for me. I want no more pallets or brushes and the Nars blush is so boring now.

I agree with you about the brushes and palettes. I have way too many of both. I don't mind the blush though.

There is also a sponge and the usual black eye liner but at least there isn't 76 hair masks like most of last year's calendars.

I think it's more appealing than Liberty but I'm still not wowed.

AllTheChaos · 01/08/2023 17:45

Following with interest. I’d love to get my mum one of the calendars as a thank you for all her support this year, but while she’d love the skin care and jewellery, she really isn’t interested in makeup these days!

RotundRuby · 01/08/2023 17:58

@Talisin & @Peridot1 Thanks, think I must have missed it last year. Have to see what they come up with this year. I was hoping for some of their exclusive brands tbh, I really don't want another Augustinus Bader cream from anyone, ever!

MavisMcMinty · 01/08/2023 18:08

Think I might just go for any AC WITHOUT a black eyeliner and/or Nars Orgasm blush!
