Thread to discuss and compare 2023 Beauty Advent contents. Started because Liberty has already published their contents.

That was a response to Housewife2010 MN is malfunctioning on my phone.

I didn't manage to get one but I am a serious fan of BM anyway. One of their primers is my HG. And the mineral veil is fantastic. And the mascara. Even though it's black it seems to be a soft black so looks very natural.

Cult Beauty and Selfridges aren't quite hitting the mark either. I definitely think I've got calender fatigue.

Hmm this one is not bad IMO, but for £220 I'm not excited enough. Too many hair products. But I like getting perfumes, and I'd like to try the Malin and Goetz rum candle. 67g though, a full size candle would likely tempt me but that's too small. I've tried a different Biossance product before and was impressed.

Harrods still the front-runner for me I think (mainly due to the Bioeffect EGF), but I'll need to go back and look at Selfridges and Space NK in more detail before I rule them out.

I've had CB for my birthday for the last 3 years. Think I prefer Selfridges this year. (Last year I got Selfridge's half price and it arrived on 1/12. It was fabulous having two high end ones to open each day). I also love that CB always has several makeup items the Saturday before Christmas. I like that Selfridge's has perfume. Also Ive had a Roen palette from CB. Ive been trying it again since it was revealed as in the CB AC and I still don't like it.

Cross post @Stoic123 ... First impression of CB is it's so boring?! Too many travel and deluxe sizes. I don't want 39 deluxe sizes, I'd rather have a smaller number of products but in reasonable sizes!

@Mydogisamentalist I'm thinking the same, a full size candle and a couple of other products would be cheaper and probably more enjoyable. It's a shame though, I do enjoy the present every morning but no point if it's not stuff I want.

Finally, something with some things I'd like to try! Hopefully someone at work will take the ubiquitous AB off my hands.

Selfridges definitely has more interesting products . I didn’t even know Harry styles had a beauty range! So is a potential but still not really feeling that excitement
Agree with Cult Beauty comments they do great individual beauty boxes and yet reel out the same old for the advent. I think last years was better.

Hmm. HN has a LOT of repeats, some of them are things I wasn't too keen on (the Fenty makeup session - I was CAKED and I normally just wear tinted serum) but others I like and use.

I could be tempted by Selfridges... just the hair stuff is a bit naff.

Maybe I should just... get Botox instead for the same price?

I think I’m on the fence about CB - maybe not hugely exciting but there are a few products in there that I use already and some that I’d be keen to try. I wonder if the price will be the same as last year?!

Oh I thought it only said what last years price was on that link (I bought it last year and I’m sure it was £235 - although later reduced if I remember correctly!)

I'm interested to see what makeup colours are in the Selfridges AC. There are about 3 lipsticks. The packaging of the Byredo is beautiful so I'd love it to be a shade I'd wear.
Re the AB cream, I ended up with about 3 last year. I sold them all on eBay for about £25 each.

@Squishmymallow you are right last years was £235 . It dosent say what this years is. Surely it wouldn’t be much more than that . It normally tracks a similar value to SpaceNk and that is £235 this year . I guess we will have to wait and see

Jesus super disappointed in CB! Last year was much better. There's no perfume this year, plus so many duds. Tacky looking mirror and sleep mask. Really don't rate bare minerals and benefit. Also hair gummies are pointless unless you can commit to buying them

I really hope people everywhere (not just on this thread I mean) are suffering AC fatigue, because that might mean loads of discounted calendars as Christmas approaches, and I’m sure at reduced prices I’d be much more tempted. Like lots of you, I already have so much stuff that the big “luxury” ACs seem a lot of money just to add more to the stash. I’m not sure I’ll live long enough to get through it all!

Really? It must be a mistake. It's hardly contentious.

I agree with you - I haven't added the contents to the spreadsheet yet but a quick look tells me it's not a likely contender. There are multiple DoDs (a satin pillowcase and eye mask? At least last year's mask was silk.) Also a good few mehs plus sizes seem very small.

I'm really hoping the boots premium one is good. And available in Ireland.

A new one for this year, Vogue! Interesting, but at £350 it's pricey. I wonder if this is why Liberty and NAP have thrown random items into their calendars, as Vogue has things like a necklace, gold hoops, a Foreo, a credit card holder, TWC bedsocks. The difference is the Vogue items look decent, although I don't wear necklaces and the hoops wouldn't be my style.

Cult Beauty is not for me this year.

Selfridges looks interesting. I like the look of the lipsticks and the BS serum, but there are also several DoDs (nail polish, supplements, eyeliner trio!).

Vogue is too expensive but I like the box

I love the Vogue box, but can't spend that much and I don't like yellow gold.

I think Selfridges looks really good this year, it is definitely a contender.

The Vogue box is indeed beautiful. The mix is interesting. I rather like the jewellery and socks, but not the wallet. I think the Foreo face tool included is quite pricey. But £350??

CB is I think the least interesting it’s ever been. I’ll be doing the usual spreadsheet analysis but it’s looking like a definite no.

My favourite CB was 2021. This year will be a case of trying to second guess which ones will be reduced. Although I got some fabulous bargains last year, I still paid full price for CB which was reduced later. Previously it has sold out within a few hours so I was ready to buy it at 9 am.
