Thread to discuss and compare 2023 Beauty Advent contents. Started because Liberty has already published their contents.

The boots beauty boxes have been available for us all this year @OchonAgusOchonOh so hopefully we might be able to get the advent calendar. I can’t remember who else to tag but I know there’s another Irish poster.

Or maybe you’re set on Cult or Space NK?

I can’t see myself spending €200+ this year if the boots one is half the price or <€150

@AnSionnachGlic maybe? I think she's on this thread.

If not, sorry.

OchonAgusOchonOh · 23/08/2023 22:08

@TheDuchessOfMN - it's £99 so should be €120.

Hopefully available. The macmillian one tends not to be but that might be as it's a UK charity.

They do sometimes have the beauty edits on the Irish site but then cancel them as they don't ship here. It happened to me with one a couple of years ago but they have hopefully got their act together now.

Ooh curve ball from Boots. Lots of us will have Advantage points to use too making it even more reasonably priced. That might be a good option.

RotundRuby · 23/08/2023 22:36

Might get that Boots one for my mum. Bought her no7 the past couple of years but one brand is hard as gets so repetitive.

FredaFox · 23/08/2023 23:01

That Elemis is tempting!
Today I've had a sort out of all my advent and beauty box treats
I have so many primers, eye creams, toners to get through, I've done myself a bag to leave at my mums when I stay there

It would have to be bought solely with the points though; you can't part pay with the points.

AnSionnachGlic · 23/08/2023 23:37

Thanks for tagging me on Boots availability for Republic Ireland customers. Like you all I don't feel like paying over 200 euro for a calendar this year! The search continues!

Interesting - looks like you are right but I worked there about 10 years ago and we definitely let people part-pay with points!

Housewife2010 · 24/08/2023 05:32

The official line has always been that you can't part pay. I've had a card since the beginning. I didn't know that staff could be more lenient.

Squishmymallow · 24/08/2023 09:34

That boots calendar does look promising! Definitely a contender and at that price maybe worth buying without analysing the contents too carefully so that there are real surprises in December…although in reality I know I won’t be able to help myself and I’ll look at the full list! 🤣
Patiently waiting for JL reveal too…does anyone remember when we found out last year?

Talisin · 24/08/2023 09:54

JL was 20th September last year - it was one of the last big ones to do a content list, we were all waiting for it as I recall.

Roundaboot · 24/08/2023 10:45

That Boots one is very tempting indeed, especially with 14 full sized products. It should be easy to knock a bit off the price too, by going through Quidco etc.

I could do Boots + H&B for less than the price of JL.

magicalkitty · 24/08/2023 10:52

If you have an advantage card the Boots app always has extra offers so you can gain even more points from purchases. For example 250 points when you spend £25, 100 points when you spend £5 on beauty etc, and these are usually gained on top of other promotions they do (such as £10 worth of points when you spend £60).

Giftwithpurchase · 24/08/2023 14:26

Ooh Boots is interesting. I have so many points (enough to buy 4 haha)... for those asking you have to be able to pay for the order entirely in points (you can't part pay). Also if you pay with points, annoyingly they won't let you collect further points on that order - so you can't get any bonus points offers etc. I know this as I spend most of my money there 😂

Giftwithpurchase · 24/08/2023 14:28

The Mintd calendar is also likely to be great. Their boxes are amazing value. They do have a smaller selection of brands tho

magicalkitty · 24/08/2023 15:34

M&S will launch on 26 October. No contents yet but it will be in a cosmetic bag

ajandjjmum · 24/08/2023 15:41

Like the idea of the M & S one - I was just as happy with that last year as one of the higher cost ones. Made me realise that except in very exceptional cases, it's the thrill of a present every morning, rather than what that present actually is! Grin

Interesting that Mintd is the only calendar that is slightly cheaper than last year. I guess they're responding to the fact that people don't have as much to spend.

Last year it was £250 and I don't think it sold very well as it was reduced a few times. I managed to pick it up for £150 in January.

From the discussion on here it seems that fewer people are willing to spend £200 plus on a calendar now. I think that F&M are pushing it with £260. Next year it will probably be £275!

Net a Porter has been ‘reimagined’

Stoic123 · 24/08/2023 18:22

Well that's Net-a-porter off my list.

Crumbs- nothing is really exciting me.

WTF are Net a Porter thinking? 15 days? How’s that work then? Nope from me.

Pinenu · 24/08/2023 19:35

I wonder if they’re trying to cater to those with AC fatigue but I don’t think this is the way to do it.

Edited

I might be in the minority, but I think that’s my favourite out of the ones I’ve seen so far. I’d buy the La Mer calendar if it was better value - about £450 for £550 value.

Giftwithpurchase · 24/08/2023 19:46

Net a Porter a no from me - I wouldn't know what to do with the big lantern thingy and seems excessive - wonder what it's made from. Plus don't wear lipsticks, DEFINITELY don't need another makeup bag, boring AG cream and CT palette 🥱.. gloves are interesting addition tho 😂

SoloCat · 24/08/2023 20:03

Has anyone seen the price of the Jia Jia jewellery in the NAP one…😲
