I very nearly ordered the CB hydration box earlier but remembered I have a birthday very soon & generally get a bday voucher so hanging on for a while.

I've spent all year using up products from AC's & beauty boxes, (only purchase from Clinique which came with freebies) so am itching to buy!

Re AC's I don't think I want to pay over £200 tbh & like to wait to see more of a selection before I choose

Martinisarebetterdirty · 22/08/2023 13:21

I’ve ordered the hydration edit, a couple of things I really wanted to try so was worth it for me.

Pinenu · 22/08/2023 13:21

@Roundaboot no just the same preview you mentioned. I can see the skin food, Sukin cleanser, faith in nature soap and so on. I agree it’s a great functional calendar but after a few years of getting it I’m finding it the repeats tad dull.

I definitely don’t need any of the CB edits but I’m not sure I’ll resist. I’ve been very good this year and none of the ACs have tickled my fancy so far.

LemonJuiceFromConcentrate · 22/08/2023 13:45

I've gone for the hydration edit. I had £10 credit so it felt extra justifiable, and I'll use it all (maybe not the headband, but DD like those).

Nice to feel tempted by something after the total underwhelm of all advent info I've so far seen.

Puravida23 · 22/08/2023 14:03

Same here I have been tempted by a few beauty boxes lately yet the advents are just not appealing to date
i got the hydration box as well , quite excited as haven’t tried any of the products

MavisMcMinty · 22/08/2023 14:26

It’s a month since my birthday beauty box binge and I’m still all beautied out, nothing tempts me at all. I could barely put my LiB box together at the beginning of the month. I may have found the cure! Like when your parents made you smoke a whole packet of fags one after the other when they find out you’ve been smoking.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 23/08/2023 01:06

I think the best year for advents were the 2018 ones as I could have bought them all!

What I'd love is The Perfume Society to do a 24 day perfume Advent calendar.
Wouldn't bother me if it was samples sizes as it would be a mix of high street & niche brands like their Seasonal Scent Subscription boxes are.
Plus maybe some of the extras you get. I've had things like a 10ml Shay & Blue Voulez Vous , Roger Gallet Fleur De Figeur soap & Molton Brown travel sizes of Bath/Shower Gel & Hand/Body Lotion in my previous SSS & other boxes.

I'd also have a big size of something or a voucher to get any free box or a perfume from The Perfume Society in the day 25 box

WithinReasonOfCourse · 23/08/2023 01:47

Well I ordered and then two days later cancelled the harrods ac - I think I'm also amongst the privileged few that have reached calendar burn out. My stash isn't massive but i've definitely reached the point of knowing what I like and not wanting extra serums to try out.

redredwineub40 · 23/08/2023 10:50

I love Elemis products but those are all small sizes except the marine for £189 - I’d want a deal or GWP to make that worth my while. My Elemis tip is sign up to them directly, they run good offers.

MidnightMeltdown · 23/08/2023 11:13

Yeah I quite look the look of the Liz Earle one, but I'm not sure that single brand calendars are really worth it. I had Rituals one year and found it disappointing.

I might consider it if a decent offer comes up

BaconAndAvocado · 23/08/2023 11:40

What is GWP?

Peridot1 · 23/08/2023 12:45

@BaconAndAvocado - gift with purchase

viques · 23/08/2023 12:46

@BaconAndAvocado

GWP = Gift with purchase.

BaconAndAvocado · 23/08/2023 12:47

Ah I see...
Am I right in thinking that the M and S one is like this?

Couperi · 23/08/2023 12:48

I think I'm at a similar place tbh. I've got loads of things from previous calendars still unopened. I'll see what the Liberty fragrance one is like if they're doing it this year. Last year it was overpriced so I managed to get it in the sale

Talisin · 23/08/2023 13:02

No, you have to pay for the M&S one it’s just that if you buy a qualifying something else over a certain price - usually around £35-40 - you get the calendar at a much reduced price. You’ve always been able to return the other thing and keep the calendar at the reduced price as well.

Peridot1 · 23/08/2023 13:03

@BaconAndAvocado Not quite. The M&S one is a certain price to buy if you spend a certain amount. A GWP is where you spend say £150 on items and get a free gift. Last year Joh Lewis did a really nice GWP where if you spent over £160 on beauty you got a nice Beauty Radiance Kit. And the advent calendar counted as Beauty so I bought their advent calendar and got the Radiance kit free. (And the following week they discounted the calendar by something like 15% and I got that refunded too!)

MavisMcMinty · 23/08/2023 13:32

It’s expensive but I love Elemis and feel I can’t buy the brand while I have so many unused products, so thanks for the heads-up about their AC, I may have to consider that one. I’d get an AC to open AND replenish my Elemis stash, all in one!

magicalkitty · 23/08/2023 20:18

Boots is doing a premium calendar this year

beautyadventcalendar.net/boots-premium-advent-calendar-2023/

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 23/08/2023 20:38

@magicalkitty I've seen that & from the little spoiler it looks good so wonder if the rest of the products will be?

Puravida23 · 23/08/2023 21:22

Boots have done some amazing beauty boxes this year so it could be quite good. The glimpse of the box looks lovely

MavisMcMinty · 23/08/2023 21:31

Much more my usual price too!

TheDuchessOfMN · 23/08/2023 21:59

The boots beauty boxes have been available for us all this year @OchonAgusOchonOh so hopefully we might be able to get the advent calendar. I can’t remember who else to tag but I know there’s another Irish poster.

Or maybe you’re set on Cult or Space NK?

I can’t see myself spending €200+ this year if the boots one is half the price or <€150
