Is This OK for a September wedding? I love the style but think it might be too dark?

Look at the sleeves. You'd need arms like a gibbon.

I assumed it was just badly styled on the model and it should have turned back cuffs.

It could be made glamorous with a big straw hat. I'm starting to warm to it , mainly because of some of the (really silly) comments about it. My first thoughts were it's a very smart work dress. It doesn't look anything like a dressing gown.

If given the choice of this dress and the dull Ralph Lauren one, I'd take the Reiss dress with no hesitation.

I really like the first dress, BUT IF wearing to a wedding you need a fabulous stand out hat preferably wide brimmed and dark shoes, at first look she looks like she’s in a robe. It has a classy understated vibe that I love if you can carry it off.

I'm coming round to that view too.

Patent shoes? Red patent?

LivelyBlake · 17/07/2023 19:06

I'd wear it with nude heels (leather not patent), a gold clutch and a gold chain choker necklace. No hat.

CostelloJones · 17/07/2023 19:14

It looks like it’s got a giant bar code down the side/on the sleeve

Buildingthefuture · 17/07/2023 19:26

I bought that dress for a work event. It’s lovely actually and I really liked it, but, annoyingly, the zip was broken so I sent it back. I wouldn’t wear it for a wedding though, it’s very much work wear for me.

Great! Thank you so very much!

A work event. So not just every day work. An event. Is that not the point? Big hat? Far fewer people are wearing big hats. Jewelled headband is chic at the moment.

noglow · 17/07/2023 21:42

My hair is a sleek bob. I'm not wearing a hat or anything.

As in I had no hat planned. Perhaps though this is what will elevate my sort of style to "wedding appropriate". So thank you very much. I'm so pleased some of you have helped me find a way to wear this sort of style to a wedding.

I love it and would wear it to a wedding with a gorgeous hat!

Oh gosh! That's lovely but not really in keeping with my dull dressing gown aesthetic! Wish I cod pull it off but I'm a bit too plain!

Ok! Sorry but what about This? definitely not work wear. Similar sort of sleeves to original but perhaps less structural?

Now that One Hundred Stars dress is much better, I've got my eye in that one. A few glitzy accessories and it's easy to dress up and down for different occasions.

I think that's nicer. It's better material and the skirt is lined.

I am clearly in a minority cause I really liked the two you posted, OP. I can understand other people saying that they'd wear them for work, but the thing is, I definitely wouldn't, everyone who knows me knows that I'm very casual clothes-wise and therefore would consider me very dressed up in those dresses - it's all relative!

Plus anything floral or pastel makes me look (a) washed out and (b) like my mother (love my mum, just not the same taste 😆).

I have been eyeing this one up for a wedding:

Love the dress you've got your eye on!

Yes order! Love this. It's still unique, appropriate, and fits your shape brief. Hope it looks great. How would you style it?

Um.. I have some black flat sandals? I'm no good at this!

I would go chunky boots and biker jacket, but that's my style so you can try it out with sandals see how you like it. Go from there. 😁

I have not seen this.

My husband says the first one looks like it's sold in lidl coz they put the barcode on it like that. Now I can't unsee it.

I'm so sorry but the barcode comment was my first thought too! Agree with pps that both of these first two are work dresses more than wedding guest dresses.

I do have some nice ankle boots. I might need a nice cashmere cardi or something they look quite thin.

VerbenaGirl · 18/07/2023 07:41

Absolutely yes, particularly with a really eye catching bag and shoes (bright or sparkly).

TizerorFizz · 18/07/2023 09:37

@noglow Please no chunky boots or biker jacket! If other posters thought the Reiss dress was work, chunky boots and a biker jacket are down the pub or at a gig. Possibly heeled ankle boots. Although in Sept it’s barely autumn. Why not just a decent pair of heeled pumps? Black or beige. Yes to a cashmere wrap. Not sure about a cardi as the sleeves look wide. Kimono style. Would they stuff into a cardi? Maybe wear a vest under if it’s chilly. Definitely go for a wrap. Big scarves and wraps are in Vogue Trends for autumn 2023.

ididntwanttodoit · 18/07/2023 11:51

This dress is stylish and gorgeous! I love the idea of silver shoes/accessories - that would really add a touch of wedding glam.
