Does anyone have the patchwork denim jacket? What’s it like for size?

ilovecherries · 14/07/2023 20:07

You’ve all been busy today! I did crack last night and ordered the Alpaca fairisle jumper, which felt a bit incongruous in 36C heat, but I do love a good jumper. Otherwise, this week I’ve worn the Elm (today), the shorts in navy and copper (still not convinced they aren’t a smidge too long), and the ikat dress from a few years back. I think I will probably wear the black and lime check dress tomorrow.

@MaroonedOnADesertIsland - excellent sock collection there!

dudsville · 14/07/2023 20:19

I remember that black and lime dress, very pretty! I was still in my denim wrap turned pinafore today. Ever since the pandemic i just wear a thing until it needs a wash or the weather dictates otherwise. I suspect tomorrow I'll be back in my space check trousers with oversized ecru emma, it's my current outfit of choice for weekends.

Snowyowl78 · 14/07/2023 20:30

@ilovecherries im wondering if they’re too long too, I might have them taken up

MiracleToast · 14/07/2023 20:41

I am, I think, finished with the sale now. I still need to return the ‘good news’ trainers —I had eyed them before the sale and at 50 they were a great price but I just don’t like them enough even so. Did anyone else get them?

Today I wore the new Jasmine buttery yellow linen shirt with the lychen carpenters and novestas. I felt bright and sunny on a very grey day.

Toast sales are a really great joy and distraction and I love this chat for that also. It’s like a little pocket of excitement and beauty, and for that I’m really grateful.

I think I’m going to. I feel they just aren’t quite hitting in the right place. I think my worn-out Hush shorts suit me better, and I think it’s because they are actually shorter.

@ilovecherries ooh what hush shorts do you have? I have a million pairs of the Marsielle, and I’ve been wearing them to death

These are the ones I have too! They are at least 6 years old and I have them in about 5 colours. But although I put them in the loft clean (and protected from moths!), they didn’t look good at all when they came down this year and several pairs had a nasty greasy feel. I think they’ve just got so much SPF and mozzie repellent ingrained in the fabric that they are starting to degrade. I’ve got the black ones with me, they are still wearable but most of the rest were finally past it. I don’t think they do them any more either - or certainly not in the range of colours they once had.

@MiracleToast ,i may be a few glasses of wine in, but I agree, this thread is a little ray of sunshine.

MiracleToast · 14/07/2023 22:10

♥️@dudsville

AFingerofFudge · 14/07/2023 22:33

@MiracleToast John Lewis have those same Good News trainers at only £30. They're only available in size 6 or 7, I've been debating whether or not to buy them!

MiracleToast · 14/07/2023 23:04

@AFingerofFudge wow—that’s a serious discount!

Snowyowl78 · 15/07/2023 07:45

@ilovecherries they still do them in black and like a lightweight denim but they’re in the sale so probably on their way out

dudsville · 15/07/2023 08:35

I'm struggling this morning with the pond again. Although the top half didn't suit me, I'm wondering whether it would be cute under an over sized tee or jumper. Is really speciation sometime telling me that's a ridiculous way to wear this dress.

Alpacasoft · 15/07/2023 09:22

Morning
Ugh work has been busy this week, ready for AL.
So many calls for knitting pics Blush sorry I missed that .
I will post a picture once I've finished the lace bit, it's currently all scrunched up on a tiny circular needle and will look like scrunched up knitting until I swap for a longer one.

I ordered the wool/ cotton skirt but it is a really odd colour and the fabric is horrible.
Weirdly it's got the same texture as interfacing.
Like the fibres have been formed not woven, very flimsy and I felt like I could easily tear it if I wasn't careful.
Shame as I like this silhouette.
I've ordered the Landscape check dress in small and Lydia in a medium in the black, due Monday.

Sounds like everyone is still ordering from the sale.
I've never ordered so much but so many things fitted well into my wardrobe at very good prices.

Not keen on the new stuff at all but it often takes me a while .
Apparently Im getting a clown print in my order .

Stoic123 · 15/07/2023 09:23

@dudsville - the Pond is a tempting price and I reluctantly returned mine as the colour didn't suit (that was at the earlier price of £120). I would need to wear something over the top half to make it look good.

The reason I'm not rebuying is that the place I intended it to fill in my wardrobe was 'sleeveless dress' or 'cute pinafore dress' (tee under) - so wearing something over just negates the whole point of the dress for me.

I have mentally put that £70 towards a linen dress next spring in a colour that would work much better for me.

Not ridiculous at all.
I plan to wear mine alone on very warm days and layer with the bone or navy cotton linen easy sweater on cooler days.
Sorry Grin

@AFingerofFudge thanks for the tip on the fab JL discount, I've ordered and will be collecting tomorrow.

Sorry Grin

It looks lovely layered with something under it or over the top of it. I think one of the videos showed this being done. Down the waist being low, it really looks like a skirt. I will do that in Autumn or if it gets a bit chilly. I often wear a jumper over dungarees. The bonus is, you wont have a waistband digging in!

Meant to say to the person who was querying the linen shirt. I ordered the medium [ I have the large in the pink] and the medium is as big as the pink in the large! [ If not a tad larger] I think someone else mentioned this too.
Ive kept it but was hoping for a slightly neater fit across the shoulders in the coffee coloured. Oh well..
Really could not be bothered to return it.!

It is the 12th video down.
