I am glad you got your bag back @ToastCosILoveIt 😄I donated my house keys once by accident 🙁

ToastCosILoveIt · 14/07/2023 13:22

@dudsville yes, I expect they like my donations as there is some lovely stuff. It has really made me reevaluate what I buy, especially as a handful of the stuff had labels still on 😚. I am getting my wardrobe in order, giving stuff to charity, selling a few bits of Toast and other good labels and am then going to think about how/what I buy going forward. In the meantime I am having a no spend period from now to end of September (maybe more).

In among my clearing I found the slate linen pinafore that I had even forgotten buying, shameful really. I have at least two denim pinafores I will list on the Facebook page and a whole host of other lovely toast stuff which I love but I need to thin out my wardrobe.

I also found a few moth eaten bits so I am busy washing, freezing and vacuum packing.

Following on from a comment up thread, sorry, can’t remember who had said it, about seeing things on repeat in the sale and suddenly wanting the item. I’m currently there with this dress. Does anyone have it? Is it oversized? I think I need a Large but am tempted by a medium. I did clarify sizing with Toast and a medium should fit on the chest but I’m wondering if the arms are tight.

Just got my penultimate (surely!!) order. All going back.
The rust Emma in an S I thought would be a keeper but it tighter than some of my others.
The oatmeal alpaca cardigan is a bit itchy, and the colour does absolutely nothing for me.
I also threw in the new chambray frill collar shirt to try, and I’m almost thankful that it doesn’t work. The collar is too much on me and the sizing is odd. Very cropped but not wide enough to balance it out, it just looked like I had grown out of it!
I’m now just waiting for the Sturlini sandals which should arrive early next week.

ScottishMouse · 14/07/2023 14:05

@faustina my saltwaters are a 5. I know what you mean about them being very flat. I usually can’t get on with very flat shoes, but they have been completely fine for me until this summer, and I wonder if that is because the sole has worn away to nothing now.

BettinaInDenmark · 14/07/2023 14:26

@ScottishMouse They are indeed very flat. 7-8 years ago I bought 3 pairs from Toast - blue, black and rose gold. I love using them in the summer, but each year my feet complains until they get used to them

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 14/07/2023 14:34

My last parcels arrived and unusually I like everything, although the Dhal mariner skirt is probably too big in the 12 as I would need to do it up on the second set of buttons which I think ruins the placement of the back pocket. The 10 is oos now (although it wasn’t this morning) but I need to seriously think whether I actually need another skirt as they’re probably my least worn item.
The chocolate linen shorts are a much better fit than the copper ones so I will definitely keep those. Finally the Drawstring denim dress is exactly my sort of dress, in fact if I’d known how well it suited me I would probably have bought it at full price.

faustina · 14/07/2023 14:47

Thanks @MiracleToast . I'll see if I can overcome my sale fatigue

@ScottishMouse - I think they do saltwaters with a slightly thicker sole now. Perhaps you could try a pair of those if the Sturlini don't do it for you?

mizu · 14/07/2023 14:52

@Theteapotsbrokenspout what size did you get in the drawstring waist dress? Looks roomy on the reviews.

I'm 5 7" and generally a 10 in TOAST 10-12 in real life and like things a bit oversized.

Worried it'll be too short as I like things just below the knee.

Saurus72 · 14/07/2023 14:56

The thicker soled Saltwaters are fantastic - I wore mine on holiday last week when we were walking c.15k steps a day, no problem at all. I love the look of my flat saltwaters (3 pairs) but they’re really too flat to wear for anything apart from walking on grass or just bimbling around at home. I bought a pair for the purpose during the first lockdown as I didn’t want to wear slippers during summer and they’re great for that purpose. Planning to buy a rose gold pair of boardwalk (thick soled) ones next.

ScottishMouse · 14/07/2023 14:57

How do you find them width wise @Saurus72 ? I tried a pair last year but they seemed much narrower than my flat saltwaters. I have a reasonably wide foot so gave up on the idea of them.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 14/07/2023 14:58

I got the S in the drawstring waist @mizu , that was my recommended size. I'm a busty 12 in real life and struggling a bit with the new Toast sizes, I bought the M in the drawstring collar dress and both seem the same size to me.
It is a shorter dress, not far below my knee and I'm 5' 4".

mizu · 14/07/2023 14:59

Thanks for the swift reply. I'm dithering as so unsure about the length.

Saurus72 · 14/07/2023 15:02

@ScottishMouse Hmm no problem with width.

dudsville · 14/07/2023 16:27

😂@Dee1224 re the keys, and @ScottishMouse for winning the description of the day by saying an item just looked like you'd grown out of it!

@ToastCosILoveIt I admire in a sort of baffled way that you can get rid of things you like. I shall go through my stuff this weekend and see how i get on.

@NotAMinimalist ,i tried it early sale and remember too little about it to be of use, it's a nice dress but it didn't suit me. I tried both my recommended size as well as the usual one size down, and that was an OK fit, but i remember it being one of the looser fitting of that style of dress.

ScottishMouse · 14/07/2023 16:37

Ah for goodness sake, you people have just made me order the drawstring denim dress and the drawstring collar dress! If they don’t pull the sale soon, I am in serious trouble.
I don’t usually shop this much in the sale or otherwise. I fear I am using online shopping to avoid dealing with some tricky stuff I have had going on the last while. I need to get a grip.
That said, I have (so far) only kept 3 dresses, 2 T-shirts, and 2 pairs of socks from this sale. It’s not excessive. I think it is the constant delivery and returning of parcels that feels a bit out of control.

dudsville · 14/07/2023 16:51

When i read your post i thought how we need a sub thread, a safe space to wear and show our things away from sale talk! Sorry you've been going through stuff@ScottishMouse, didn't sound like you've done yourself a disservice, it is a like angsty all the packages in and out. I look guard to the end of it!

looks like there will be a little flurry of denim drawstring dresses winging their way out of the TOAST warehouse - i've just purchased too. 😀

Love these! I bought the striped ones. Not worn yet.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 14/07/2023 18:35

Sorry everyone, I’ll try not to mention the drawstring dresses again 🤐.

I have reordered the dhal mariner skirt in a 10, now oos again, hopefully it will be fulfilled.

dudsville · 14/07/2023 19:32

Ahhhh, @MaroonedOnADesertIsland , lovely. I've got those green and the striped ones, love them.

Sounds like the denim drawstring is the new oar check, which was the new pond, which probably was in competition with the infamous trivet.

Dee1224 · 14/07/2023 19:33

Me too @ScottishMouse and @neveradullmoment99 🙂🙃. I am feeling guilty about spending/returning, but it is nicely distracting atm. And I agree @dudsville - a sub-thread would be nice.

On a related note: One day we should all meet up at the SM shop and clear the shelves, (leaving behind only - possibly - Geoffrey’s twigs and dibbers) - I am calling my fantasy meet-up Toastfest🤣

Dee1224 · 14/07/2023 19:34

Liking those socks @MaroonedOnADesertIsland !

I returned a couple of things today but am still debating keeping the Fairisle cotton tank. I just don’t know what I would wear it with and/or when but it is lovely.
