I'm dying to know if it's the same pair of white stilettos every time. I rarely wear pale coloured heels because they get marked or scuffed the first time I put them on.

Maybe royalty carries a magical aura that protects leather?!

I think the magical leather protection is free when you buy the 'feet of steel' special offer.

Ohpleeeease · 04/07/2023 16:52

😂😂

Diana went in a lot for Minnie Mouse shoes, on account of her towering over her husband.

Kate might be glad of the excuse to wear something a bit flatter. A low heeled court with a brogue toe cap maybe?

That's where I went wrong. I forgot the 'feet of steel' part. I have 'feet of brie' (soft and smelly if left too long).

Maireas · 04/07/2023 16:55

I have feet of Nosferatu.

The thing that perplexes me for both Kate and Meghan is how they keep them on their feet. I have narrow feet and even narrower heels, and they seem to as well. How do they not walk out of those shoes?

Ohpleeeease · 04/07/2023 17:03

A combination of insoles and heel grips, I’m guessing @SenecaFallsRedux. Also they don’t wear their shoes often enough for them to go baggy and lose their shape.

ChicoryDip · 04/07/2023 17:07

That didn't take long @Serenster and @MmePoppySeedDefage. 😊

I usually love what Kate wears but that's too '80's for me. Think it's the white buttons on the jacket.
Her hair and makeup looks lovely.

MotherofPearl · 04/07/2023 16:14

Really dislike Kate's 80s outfit today. Especially the white stilettos.

Queen Sonja of Norway is 86 today. I think she looks great for her age.

That's a great photo of Sonia and I like her necklace. Martha Louise and Ingrid are very like her.

I've noticed that on red carpets actresses' shoes are often a bit big, possibly because they are borrowed? Meghan's engagement shoes looked a bit large iirc. Maybe she is used to working around an imperfect fit and keeps them on like flip flops, with her toes?

Hello, @MsMarch March and welcome back!
Ok, I think Kate looks quite smart and summery, quite 80s, but ye gods not the stilettos 😉!
Tan, taupe, forest green, pale yellow... anything!
Queen Sonja looks lovely, really elegant.

Pink shoes would be fun. I'm a big fan of accessorising green with pink (and vice versa).

Usually I'm 🙄 at articles that say Kate is channelling Diana but this is the first time I've thought yes, that is a very Diana.

Most of the time it's nonsense though this article claiming she's copying Charles is an original take!

Oh, for feet of steel.... I had a funny foot for years from 20-odd a few years ago, when I moved to London and decided that wearing your smart heels all bloody day, including to schlep to flat share viewings, was the done thing. One foot swelled up like a balloon and it stayed weird, with odd ridges of hard skin across the top, for ages 😳

Maireas · 04/07/2023 18:32

That's wonderful, @KillingMeDeftly ! Kate channelling Charles!
Love the incontrovertible evidence 😂

I do like that outfit (except the shoes) but it does have a hint of 'Wimbledon Umpire' about it.

I thought the same,@ChicoryDip !

mikado1 · 04/07/2023 18:51

Maireas · 04/07/2023 16:36

I don't think it's age, @mikado1 , it's the role and the occasion, as you say, @MsMarch .
Most of us don't have a wardrobe with that level of formality nowadays, even if you dress smartly for work.

Oh I know Maireas, but if I did have to dress formally, I still wouldn't go near it!

Maireas · 04/07/2023 18:55

Nor me, @mikado1 , but I think that's taste not age.

OP posts:
mikado1 · 04/07/2023 18:56

Yes, fair enough. I still think it's madness to be wearing that at 41! I have ordered those green ballerettes by the way 😁

Maireas · 04/07/2023 19:02

Oh great! Let me know how you get on, I really liked that colour.

Queen Camilla giving good hat as per at Holyrood Garden Party. Liked whole outfit actually and she appears to have received the nude wedges memo.

I was sure Diana wore a pale blue jacket with that sort of skirt, but so far haven't tracked it down. In the meantime she definitely had the skirt:

Hope the link works

Ooh hello, that's a great hat. Thistle brooch is good.

What are ballerettes I can't find the link he

I’m really not sure about the literal Wimbledon dressing…though admire her trusty white shoes getting another outing!
