Reminds me of a peppermint cream.
Very fresh looking though, but also a bit old-fashioned linesperson / umpire-y with the style of the jacket/blazer.

ChicoryDip · 04/07/2023 12:57

I do like that outfit (except the shoes) but it does have a hint of 'Wimbledon Umpire' about it.

Yes! It does - thank you, I was trying to think what it reminded me of.

Got to love Kate and her literal dressing Grin

MmePoppySeedDefage · 04/07/2023 13:32

The Daily Mail is going to lurve doing a 'Compare Kate's outfit with this one worn by Diana' feature tomorrow.

Serenster · 04/07/2023 13:45

It’s probably closest to this look from Diana 0-which is to say, apart from the white lapels, not that similar at all. It is a very 80s style look though.

(I now get why my mother was always less than impressed by the 70s looks that came back into fashion that I enthusiastically opted into - she always thought they were a very dated look, having worn them once around already! I find the same with the very 80s looks now… 🤣).

I was thinking exactly the same!

LadyEloise1 · 04/07/2023 14:02

Tights or tan with the white stilettos?

mikado1 · 04/07/2023 14:22

Kate herself looks really beautiful, the outfit is not for me, at all. I'm a few years older than Kate and wouldn't wear this in a fit.

Ohpleeeease · 04/07/2023 15:06

Lawks, I think I may be warming to the white stilettos. Or at least, can’t think of a better alternative.

Anything. Anything would be a better alternative.
😆

Ohpleeeease · 04/07/2023 15:30

What we need is a cut out doll of Kate with different shoe options with little tabs to attach them, Bunty-style.

Vitriolinsanity · 04/07/2023 15:32

Hard no to the blazer. Sorry Kate.

MrsLeonFarrell · 04/07/2023 15:50

I'm dying to know if it's the same pair of white stilettos every time. I rarely wear pale coloured heels because they get marked or scuffed the first time I put them on.

Maybe royalty carries a magical aura that protects leather?!

squashyhat · 04/07/2023 15:52

Does anyone know why the PoW has what looks like a black ribbon pinned to her blazer?

MsMarch · 04/07/2023 15:54

Hi all! I haven't been on these threads for a LOOONG time. I don't even remember what name I was using back then. But hope it's okay to drop in!?

I think Kate looks lovely and the outfit is great... but it does feel very much like another example of her dressing as close to a "uniform" for an event as she can? So she looks like a woman's tennis player, circa 1901 almost. Its like, "sure, no one ACTUALLY wears this for tennis, but if you saw a picture without knowing where she was and you were asked to guess what sort of event it was, you'd immediately think tennis!"

I used to work with a lot of women who had similar upbringings to Kate including a few who went to Marlborough. And like someone said earlier - she dresses very "modestly". Her figure is on display and gorgeous and the clothes are lovely, but it's not fashion forward at all and seldom made you think, "I wish I had that item" but that was how they ALL dress/ed I found.

It's a purple and green bow which is worn by the All England Club committee members and HRH as Patron of the club.

squashyhat · 04/07/2023 16:00

Ah thanks @MrsLeonFarrell. I thought somebody had died!

Ah thanks @MrsLeonFarrell. I thought somebody had died!

I only knew what it was because it was mentioned in an article I read. It does look very dark against her blazer.

MotherofPearl · 04/07/2023 16:14

Really dislike Kate's 80s outfit today. Especially the white stilettos.

Queen Sonja of Norway is 86 today. I think she looks great for her age.

White stilettos. 🙄
And you lot whinged about nude wedges. 😂

Maireas · 04/07/2023 16:30

Hello, @MsMarch March and welcome back!
Ok, I think Kate looks quite smart and summery, quite 80s, but ye gods not the stilettos 😉!
Tan, taupe, forest green, pale yellow... anything!
Queen Sonja looks lovely, really elegant.

Come back nude wedges all is forgiven!!!! Todays outfit is giving me Diana vibes and I'm not keen.

Same!!!

MsMarch · 04/07/2023 16:34

The white stilettos are just boring. I can live with them though. She's not exactly known for her cutting edge shoe choices though is she!? Grin

it is very old fashioned but then, she doesn't dress with huge aplomb (much as I love a lot of what she wears and usually think she looks amazing). Meghan definitely has more style and pizazz. But then, very different characters and roles so....

Maireas · 04/07/2023 16:36

I don't think it's age, @mikado1 , it's the role and the occasion, as you say, @MsMarch .
Most of us don't have a wardrobe with that level of formality nowadays, even if you dress smartly for work.
