I just looked up the temp in Santa Barbara. It's a top of 22C, which is not that warm if you're from somewhere sunny. (I'm in Australia and it will be 29C/85F tomorrow - and it's winter here.) So maybe it was the same the day the photo was taken? I do like this look but agree it's not very summery.

I really like that shade of red. I always find it hard to buy red clothes. I'm less keen on the sandals.

Can I say how irritating I find it when the DM refer to women as 'mother of two' or 'mother of three' etc? Especially when, as in this case, they get it wrong? Mary is most certainly not a 'mother of two'. They never refer to men in these terms. I know it's not exactly surprising that the Mail is grossly sexist, but it's still infuriating. Sorry to digress!

I love that she’s blowing a kiss, she looks very relaxed. That’s a very difficult red to accessorise, I can’t quite think what would have worked other than maybe a very deep plum.

I'm impressed they're working at this time of year. I had presumed all royals had two months off in the summer. Luckily for us there's still a few who we can admire or this thread would be soooo quiet 😂
