Afternoon, a new thread and thanks to @ArcaneWireless for the great title! On we go!

Meghan looks good. I do like those tailored shorts and white shirt combo.
And Charlotte C - just because it says Chanel, doesn't mean it is automatically chic!

Maireas · 03/07/2023 16:48

Unfortunately, Chanel appear to have gone down the route of certain other designers, and gone a bit logotastic.

Charlotte's outfit: I have no words.

MrsLeonFarrell · 03/07/2023 17:32

Meghan's casual wardrobe is always great. I am not always so keen on her dressier choices.

If I had to choose one word for Catherine's wardrobe it would be "modest". She is always suitably dressed, the clothes fit well and usually flatter her figure but there is rarely anything ground breaking. Having said that I think it's a wise way to go in her position with all the scrutiny she gets. I remember the fuss in the early years when her skirts blew up in the wind. You would have thought the world would end if we saw a royal upper thigh going by the tabloid rubbish that was printed. Much easier for her to find a formula and stick to it.

I am interested though in how things change now the Queen is no longer setting the rules. I wonder if more will change than the nail varnish.

Ohpleeeease · 03/07/2023 17:36

I saw somewhere recently that there never were any rules, only the Queen’s personal preferences. However, if the Queen expressed a preference I imagine you’d have to be brave not to consider it a rule!

Maireas · 03/07/2023 17:47

That's what I understood, too @Ohpleeeease .
I think someone said on a previous thread that the late Queen was actually quite relaxed about what others' wore. The nail varnish thing was a caution against dark colours because they chip and so don't look good. I suppose with modern gels that's not a problem.

Very true! It is interesting though that there were no actual rules. The Mail really bashed Meghan over them, one more instance of the media being unkind I suppose.

Tippingadvice · 03/07/2023 18:10

The media will use anything to bash Meghan, I agree they were most likely HMs preference or for practical reasons.

I do think there has been a subtle change, and this will continue.

Mathilde looks nice today.
And not strictly royal related, but if you have a spare £50,000 you too could invest in this Louis Vuitton-inspired handbag which is smaller than a train of salt...just be careful not to drop it 😂

Came here to post about Charlotte C. Go home Chanel. You are drunk 🧐🫣

borntobequiet · 04/07/2023 08:21

I suppose with modern gels that's not a problem.

I thought that was a gentle send up of how the late Queen might pronounce girls for a moment (am unfamiliar with modern nail trends).

borntobequiet · 04/07/2023 09:03

DS when small used to pronounce girls as “gels”, it was very cute.

Papergirl1968 · 04/07/2023 12:02

White stiletto alert - Kate's at Wimbledon.

The blazer is a very 80s look isn't it?

GrouchyKiwi · 04/07/2023 12:29

I quite like that outfit.

justasking111 · 04/07/2023 12:45

I like the outfit still not a fan of solid white courts

I agree. I’m really not a fan of this outfit. I am envious of being at Wimbledon though 😀🎾

chesterelly1 · 04/07/2023 12:52

I'm not sure that's the best shade of green but I think she gets away with it as the white lapels stop it being next to her skin if you see what I mean. Lovely fresh Summer look.
Although Kate if you're reading it's positively Autumnal up here I hope you do have velvet robes looked out for tomorrow. KC was back on Britannia last night in a much better suit.

ChicoryDip · 04/07/2023 12:57

I do like that outfit (except the shoes) but it does have a hint of 'Wimbledon Umpire' about it.

It is so cold! I have just dug out my Winter coatigan and I'm still a bit chilly.
