I bought a white pleated skirt in the 80s wore it a lot with long tops. Diana really did start a trend.

KPops22 · 05/07/2023 08:48

I used to wear my pleated skirts with a v neck big jumper I recall. This has brought it all back!

Eaumyword · 05/07/2023 08:57

Same! Like a cricket jumper over a pleated skirt! Shirley from Wham wore them so that was alright by tweenie me!😂

KPops22 · 05/07/2023 09:21

Yes a cricket jumper 😂😂

Gooseysgirl · 05/07/2023 09:23

Kate is in NHS blue on some prerecorded footage celebrating 75th anniversary. I think it's a rewear from jubilee lunch or similar IIRC. #trigger warning... she's in the white stilettos again...

In other news, hoping for some mega jewells today and good frockage/hatage in Scotland!

The colours are beautiful.

And I’m sure that espadrilles are lovely and comfy too are they?

Ice not ever has an espadrille. The strings would make my limbs look like a brisket.

😂😂😂

I made this black pleated skirt, and wore it with batwing tops like in the picture, when I was 13 or so. We dressed so very “maturely” in the 1980s 🤣

Your brisket comment has had me chuckling @ArcaneWireless

Love Sofia's jumpsuit - she looks great.

miri1985 · 05/07/2023 13:40

Sophie looking very elegant at a service for the NHS at Westminster Abbey

I like that. suits her.

Where is Edward?

GrouchyKiwi · 05/07/2023 13:45

That's a lovely look on Sophie.

Am watching the coverage from Scotland.

chesterelly1 · 05/07/2023 14:10

First spot of the Duchess of Rothesay. Blue coat, as seen on her last trip to Edinburgh (I think I'm trying to find pics) with new hat.
I wanted to go to the Royal Mile but alas, school hols having already started and DC needing ferried about put paid to that so I've commandeered the big tv.
And Order of the Thistle for everyone else. Deux points for Chester.

GrouchyKiwi · 05/07/2023 14:13

One of my lovely friends in the St Giles Choir and they're singing today, so I really hope we see her.

Duchess of R looks lovely. Am glad they others are all wearing their Thistle robes. They look equally grand and hilarious.

Cute little smile from Wills for his Dad there.

ArcaneWireless · 05/07/2023 14:17

Och I love Sophie’s frock. She looks really bonny.

MotherofPearl · 05/07/2023 14:31

I'm not crazy about big floral prints, but the cut and style of Sophie's dress is perfect for her. I wish she'd always wear a deep v neck like that.

Eaumyword · 05/07/2023 14:37

Sophie looks lovely, that pink dress is very flattering.

ChicoryDip · 05/07/2023 14:40

Sophie looks lovely and that style is great on her.

I think Kate's coat is the same one she wore for the Commonwealth Day service with a different hat. Not a fan of the cut or colour but very appropriate for the occasion. The necklace is fab though!

chesterelly1 · 05/07/2023 15:09

Yes it is the Commonwealth day coat, also worn for Easter at Windsor. I think I was remembering her outfit from Cop 26.
My late FIL was head gardener for Duke of Hamilton.I'm a little sad he's not here to see him bearing the crown.

KillingMeDeftly · 05/07/2023 15:29

I like Kate's hat but I think the blue is a bit harsh on her. But it's Saltire blue (I think) so I suppose appropriate. Sophie looks lovely - the dress really suits her. Remember when she had the short Diana-like hair? I think I prefer the softer style she has now.

I agree with you re the blue being a bit harsh on Kate and longer hair suiting Sophie.

Afternoon, just catching up. Did any of our Scottish friends spot the royals up in Auld Reekie? I think Kate looked very elegant, she's really nailing that formal wear. Like others I'm not too keen on that blue, although I'm just grateful she wasn't in tartan! Her jewellery was gorgeous 😍!

Sophie does look very pretty and I'm glad that the royal family are celebrating the NHS.
Sophie of course owes her life and that of Louise to the NHS emergency care.

Catching up with the service I notice that Catherine's dress is the same colour as the church! I thought she looked lovely and unspectacular as usual.

Hello 👋 I was at the service. Didn’t see a thing! So disappointed. I was at the Queen’s funeral last year and has such a great seat. Different configuration this time. I saw the back of the Duchess of R and that was that. Bah!

I was also at the Garden Party yesterday and got drenched. Both QC and PA looked warm and cosy in their outfits.
