Broderie anglaise trend

I have just ordered a white broderie shirt to try- not very expensive but pure cotton- and DH says it looks like the tablecloth his nan used. I fear he is right. It's not even polyester.

Do the black or blue ones look any less nan tablecloth ish? Bored of black though.

I saw a lovely navy blue dress in Spain last year, and have regretted not buying it ever since we left that town.

I love Broderie anglais! Summery, cool with those little holes. I have a pair of white shorts, black strappy summer dress and a black summer jacket that goes with everything. Black is practical!
It has always been high summer fashion but beware of lace imitation or polyester materials - these are not broderie anglais.

I've got this shirt which I bought in Zara when I was in Lisbon recently. Love it with jeans.

Several nice broderie anglaise and similar lace types dresses at Ascot.

@Downsizeddumpling I love the colour. I'm going to keep an eye on these on vinted since someone is bound to buy them and not wear them.... I'm sure few will appear at some stage!!

You have to be so careful with it. It can look very naff or it can look very beautiful.
