It’s madness for me to buy a silk summer dress isn’t it?

I’ve seen a dress I really love. But it’s 100% silk and expensive even in the sale.

I am not a naturally tidy person.

It would be madness for me to buy it wouldn’t it? Please remind me how easily silk stains etc

Is silk actually cool?

HermioneWeasley · 10/06/2023 16:58

How would you wash it?

I have some silk shirts and they're like wearing air

LunaNorth · 10/06/2023 17:01

Can we see it before we decide?

MuddlerInLaw · 10/06/2023 17:02

Can’t express an opinion on an invisible dress …

Mumsnut · 10/06/2023 17:05

indeedy. Link plse

Magenta82 · 10/06/2023 17:07

I need to see it.
Love a silk dress in the summer, but the style is important.

Buy a silk dress and a can of dry cleaning fluid

Wintry57 · 10/06/2023 17:12

Well I’m clumsy and I love silk - take it off before cooking, and be really careful when eating and drinking? I’ve not ruined one yet…

Dancingoapin · 10/06/2023 17:30

Good point re cleaning as it is also dry clean

Dancingoapin · 10/06/2023 17:31

I’m kind of embarrassed to link it as it is also massively overpriced! But I tried it on and it genuinely looked great on me ( which isn’t a very common thing).

Its a very loose short tunic type dress

You only live once! Something that makes you feel good is important

Birdsongsinging · 10/06/2023 17:41

Silk isn’t too bad and can usually be hand washed. How much is it?

if you look good in it buy it!

Badbudgeter · 10/06/2023 17:43

I buy silk dresses on vinted as people pay £££ and then are scared to wear/ wash so it ends up being sold for peanuts three years later. If that is not you then go for it.

SqueakyDinosaur · 10/06/2023 17:45

Also, silk is a lot more washable than most people think.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 10/06/2023 17:46

I wear a lot of silk, I love it, and I'm a messy person. It can be hand washed.

Itisyourturntowashthebath · 10/06/2023 17:49

Does it have a pattern on it or is it pain?

Plain silk seems to be an invitation for someone to throw greasy food at you.

Dancingoapin · 10/06/2023 17:57

It’s patterned and it’s £200. Which is a lot!

Ihavekids · 10/06/2023 17:59

Silk is beautiful and I love it. I love even just looking at it.

If you look great in it just buy it, even if you don't wear it you can hang it somewhere visible and looking at it will make you happy. It's like art.

woodhill · 10/06/2023 18:00

I find silk makes me sweat

Dancingoapin · 10/06/2023 18:01

@Ihavekids - that made me smile

FFS Just show us the bloody dress

LivingDeadGirlUK · 10/06/2023 18:04

Show us the dress OP :)

I love a silk top in the summer but not sure if I could deal with a dress given how it creases almost as bad a linen.

Thisisbollocksmark · 10/06/2023 18:06

If it's patterned, you could potentially get away with a little stain here and there.

I absolutely love a bit of silk myself. It's brilliant in this weather.
