@Noodle421 this dress almost has me breaking my no non-sale items rule. I am so pleased to hear it is a pale jade—I see it as green but was worried that with its name pebble it could be actually beige and I couldn’t see it properly. So, thrilled it’s jade and really really hope Toast put it in the sale! If you do try on please let me know sizing.

It’s definitely not beige. I describe it as pale jade and a reviewer likened it to duck egg blue. It definitely veers more to pale green than blue. A member of Toast staff said although it seemed an unlikely pairing it looked very good with the new slightly darker green linen top (with asymmetrical button fastening ) worn as a light weight jacket on top. It worked well tonally and looked great on the customer apparently. I would never have tried this pairing as it all seems a bit too green and minty toothpaste-y all together but demonstrates importance of keeping an open mind when trying on. I will try on when I next have a chance.

Snowyowl78 · 19/06/2023 09:22

Oh well done @FufferPish that looks great! Surprising about the buttons, did they dye properly all over?

@Snowyowl78 owl78 They became a bit 'meh'-and spotty grey. They are now 'garment-dyed' buttons. I have now learned my lesson and will take all buttons OFF before dying anything in the future. I will replace the one visible button (the rest is hidden behind the front placket). But overall it looks great and no shrinkage either despite washing twice at 40C instead of the recommended 30C.

OftenOrange · 19/06/2023 09:40

@FufferPish Brilliant result ,it looks like a nice warm dove grey;
hope you get a result with bleaching the buttons.
@Stravaig There’s always a bit of a twinge letting Toast things go , maybe this will become a favourite after all. I’ve listed a folksy Toast top from 5 yrs back, and when it attracted loads of watchers straight away , cancelled the sale . Only worn it a couple of times but love the fact it’s always there, and now I see how irreplaceable and unique these Toast pieces are.
@Theteapotsbrokenspout Pebble linen talk had me checking it out and now I’m also thinking how lovely it is . Also there’s a need for cool linen with sleeves in my wardrobe ….

Countmeout · 19/06/2023 10:30

That looks great @FufferPish . It’s a lovely colour. The buttons are natural material aren’t they which is why they’ve dyed.

Well @Snowyowl78 the Peacoat has arrived. I think an xs possibly would be better but I am not sure I love it. It would require a great deal of ironing and probably annoy me every time I go to put it on if it’s creased.
it’s not too swingy at the back which is what I feared.I just feel it’s a massive amount of cream fabric . I don’t think I’d get £175 of wear out of it so I’m almost sure I’ve returning.

Thats my sale done unless something really covetable pops up in a further drop of stuff. I’m keeping the broad check dress and a pair of socks.

MiracleToast · 19/06/2023 10:33

It’s my dream dress @Noodle421

@FufferPish that turned out so nicely! Good job!

Snowyowl78 · 19/06/2023 10:40

@Countmeout ah shame it didn’t work out for you but good for the bank balance- I do wonder if it will reduce in price again. I am wondering whether to try the XS but that might be a step too far for me!

@FufferPish im going to copy you. I was thinking black but now I am considering Forest Green after looking through the Dylon Instagram tags. Emerald green also a contender. Good to hear no shrinkage!

Noodle421 · 19/06/2023 10:42

I will try it on if I get the chance but I have a feeling the style won’t suit me. Any dress with similarly placed pleats has always been returned. They emphasise my widest area. Looked really good on the customer though so will give it a go.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 19/06/2023 10:42

@OftenOrange I wish I was near to a store so I could check the pebble colour out. OH has just taken the drawstring collar dress back to the post office for me, despite the fact I really liked it and he liked it too. But I can't really justify both dresses (unless of course the drawstring is reduced further 😀).

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 19/06/2023 10:46

@Noodle421 do you know what the sizing is like on the pebble dress? I assumed I would need a medium with the new sizing but all the reviews on that style dress are saying its oversized, and even Toast are recommending a small for me.

Stoic123 · 19/06/2023 10:51

Sale packages opened and tried on. Mixed results as usual.

  • Canvas Peacoat. No- can't make the shape work for me.
  • Rae Jumper in Truffle. Yes- worn Jade alot so knew would keep if colour suited.
  • Collared in Mallard Green. Yes - the colour really suits and not as bulky as feared. Would not have bought full price but already reasonable discount. A nice surprise.
  • Hemp Socks in Green. No - colour duller than photos (my first ever Toast socks return)
  • Birkenstock Zermatt slipper - Yes- replacing my current raggedy winter slippers.
  • Stripe Gauze Tunic Dress. No- not a fan of the material and slip is fiddly.
  • Olive Donegal Jumper. No - colour a bit meh.
  • Lisboa Blanket. Yes - don't really need but it's beautifully made and brings some hygge to the spare bedroom.
  • Ticking Stripe Dress. Maybe - gorgeous material but it is an odd cut. I am inclined to keep as these are the sort of dresses I end up slinging on when WFH. I am 14 in RL and the small is plenty big enough.
Plumpciousness · 19/06/2023 10:58

Windflower pyjamas (in orange) have arrived. My third pair of Toast pyjamas and my most (almost sole) successful Toast items as I love pattern and colour, whereas most of their daywear is plainer. The trouser length is longer than previous versions and I think both pyjama top and trousers could be worn separately as daywear. I'll let you know if I ever do...

Also got the Diamond Block Print cotton trousers. They only had Small left so I took a chance with my size 14 stomach and they do fit me. The cotton is very thin, eg summer-pyjama thin, and I'm now baulking at the thought of £35 for flimsy trousers. But I think they'll be good in very hot weather, so they're a keeper too.

Blossomtoes · 19/06/2023 11:02

I’ve got those trousers in Cornflower @Plumpciousness. Mine were £35 in the last sale. I’ve worn them a lot in the last couple of weeks and they’ll be brilliant for our holiday. They feel like a bargain to me when you think of what you’d get elsewhere for £35.

OftenOrange · 19/06/2023 11:27

@Theteapotsbrokenspout It sounds as if both the drawstring and this pebble dress are really useful pieces ; fingers crossed for more reductions.
I wouldn’t have considered a very pale green until recently, oddly these wish washy colours looked awful on me when I was younger but seem to suit old me.
I love the idea of a plain pale dress and Toast linen is the best IMO

FufferPish · 19/06/2023 11:27

I got my latest parcel, results are as follows:

Boat Neck Stripe Organic Cotton Tee | Charcoal/Rust in Medium: I am normally a small or extra small and this felt a bit snug (so sizing is just weird, but Toast suggested I try a medium and they were correct), but fitted well, colour suited me, and lengthwise it was good, lovely heavy cotton. KEEP!

Diamond Stripe Cotton Jumpsuit | Ink/Stone × 1 in small: partner commented that I looked like a "child's doll" while wearing it. It is SO wrong! Sizing was on the large size, fabric lovely but the gathers at the neck made me look broad-shouldered and overly busty (which has not happened to me before, ever). RETURN!

Elena Cotton Linen Tunic Shirt | Dusted Khaki × 1 in UK10: well, the colour is a bit dull, but the fabric is lovely and weighty, splits are a bit high, but I can remedy that easily, but I suspect I would wear it all the time: CONSIDERING!

MiracleToast · 19/06/2023 11:41

I am also considering the elena tunic @FufferPish but I got mine in the white… still pricey for the sale… decisions, decisions

FiddleFigs · 19/06/2023 11:46

Received my sale orders too, and a mixed bag:

  • Boat neck striped cotton tee (black/rust) - big hit. I too sized up as I prefer a looser tee. I went for an L, and am a high street 12.
  • Collared jersey sweatshirt in conker - a surprising success. Got in M for an oversized look.
  • Cotton pique shirt - really wanted to like this but just didn't suit - the collar stands too proud for my liking.
  • Broad check linen tank - far too big even at small
  • Round collar stripe tee - wasn't me at all.

Enjoying hearing how everyone else is getting on with their orders.

dudsville · 19/06/2023 11:55

That's a great result @FufferPish . The thread dyed! Sorry for you re the buttons, but I think it also looks ok this way. I never trust that anymore ever since asking toast what kind of thread they'd used on an item, and they said it was cotton, so I dyed it, and of course thread was not sotton as evidenced by staying white. And your diamond jumpsuit description "child's doll" is not want anyone hopes for from an outfit! I think it's a really cute item but definitely one for the youngsters.

@stoic, I have zermatt's but not with the lining, I love them. And i also have a toast blanket int he spare room with the same effect!

I've washed my landscape dress and I think this might be the first case of where not ironng suits something. I'm going to iron the sleves but leave the rest. Is that crazy?

Saurus72 · 19/06/2023 12:11

@Theteapotsbrokenspout hope you don’t mind me adding my 2 pen north on the pebble dress which I also love but it sadly didn’t work for me. I’m a RL curvy size 14 and I tried it in small. It was a great fit on the arms/shoulders but too tight across the bust. It’s voluminous on the bottom (in a nice way) so I didn’t try the medium as it would have been too much.

FufferPish · 19/06/2023 12:22

@dudsville the thread dyed indeed except some non visible it's on the inside. The button has bleached nicely and I also discovered some identical white buttons on a toast granddad shirt from last year so I now have buttons a plenty! Regarding the doll jumpsuit: I think it might suit actual children most of Toast made it in a child's size 😀I did wonder why there were several of these jumpsuits on ebay already...

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 19/06/2023 12:30

Thank you @Saurus72 I am a RL12 but 30GG bust with narrow shoulders, so that can sometimes be an issue for me. I will try the small and see how it fits.

dudsville · 19/06/2023 12:31

Ooh, I got a sale delivery. You may recall I said I do not need dresses, so ... this is my dresses order ! And I do have one more coming as I'm trying the tie neck firth in two smaller sizes.

The ticking stripe puritanical dress, this is in old money and I'm usually a medium, but something made me order a small, and it's perfect, I'm not busty and there's a lot of room there, so I think i could have gone down a size, but it actually flattering and there's something about I love. The only thing I don't love is the linen is scratchy, but I'm going to wash it and hope it softens in time. This dress makes me want to get rid of the 3 cheaper dresses I own from pre-toast, that I still know around in at home. It looks cute with the sleeves turned up messily, I mean, this dress is never going to really look cute as such, but the potential sterness is reduced a little by this. It's very long. I saw it ages in a shop by a much shorter than me sales assistant who must have taken it up, it's practically ankle grazing for me at nearly 5'7".

I also tried the oar check. I didn't like how it looked online at all, especially not on the models and expected not to like it but I wanted to shop more of the toast sale for fun, so I ordered it. I absolutely love it, it's very me. This is new money so I order the large (advised by toast) and the medium as I was dubious. The medium is a good fit, could possibly go smaller thoguh, I'll try it on again later.

The gathered check shirt dress, the one that's brown and blue, also new money so also order medium and large. The medium was massive and although it's available across all sizes it really just did not suit me.

Off to wash my puritanical dress so I can wear it tomorrow.

Stoic123 · 19/06/2023 12:48

@dudsville - yes, there is something about the Ticking Stripe Dress that made me want to keep it even though not perfect. It is just so Toast. I didn't find the material scratch but agree will improve over time.

AFingerofFudge · 19/06/2023 14:13

I also received the ticking stripe dress today and although it was almost only out of curiosity I ordered it, I think I really like it. I love the feel of it, and it just flows so nicely. Do I look like an extra in the Handmaid's Tale? Yes. Will I keep it? Probably Grin

Saurus72 · 19/06/2023 14:31

We just had some more Toast parcels delivered. The lofty jacquard sweater in small is going back - it fits but it makes me look like a bear and not n a good way.

OH’s order arrived too - the t-shirt was lovely but too snug so going back, as are the shorts as it turns out he’s already got an almost identical pair already but he forgot about them 🙄🤗.

The carpenter trousers in brown are a hit and are staying, they look fab.

So that’s me done until/if there are some more things added. My bank balance is relieved…
