@dudsville@Dee1224 Sorry the Painted Check didn’t work out .
I do like the papery crispness of the poplin , but it accentuated the flared out trapeze shape of the top so I can see it may be for everyone. I don’t think it’s especially flattering either, but as I said I love it and appreciate the non clinginess which gives good ventilation..

Countmeout · 17/06/2023 12:38

Due on Monday @Snowyowl78 but that could be Tuesday. I rewatched the videos featuring it and it was bigger than I remembered on the lady from the Cheltenham store. Holding out more hope for the cord workwear jacket. I have a couple of these in non cord and get a lot of wear from them.

Thanks for the review of cotton marl knitted tank @BettinaInDenmark . I like that one.

Snowyowl78 · 17/06/2023 12:48

@Countmeout i just tried it on with a jumper and trousers and it’s plenty big enough, I’m leaning towards keeping it. It’s reminding me of a coat I once had from Thailand about 20 years a go so it gives me a warm nostalgic feel. It’s a bit more expensive though haha

Snowyowl78 · 17/06/2023 12:52

@Countmeout which video is it on? I’d maybe get in quick with the XS, as the XXS is now sold out. You might be ok though, because I am small the exaggerated shape is quite prominent on me but it might not be like that on someone else?

@FufferPish

Sorry I don't do pics.

The Oar , large check went back as was excruciatingly difficult to get on and off and too short by about 3 inches in the body.
It was on, off and sent back this morning😅
Also as per my prev post the way it was cut formed an arrow down into my bottom!
So pleased with the one I kept.
Post as many pictures as you like , it's so helpful
I'm wondering how the 5'10 model got in the Oar check jumpsuit
Maybe they sewed her in?

The Oar jumpsuit looks lovely on ther model, and I agree the triangle at the back might emphasize parts of our body that we might not want to highlight (in my case: broad shoulders). If the Oar jumpsuit is similar to the one I bought, I think you have to be either flexible or short waisted. Whistles is really bad for poor fitting jumpsuits, they all give me a perma wedgie! Keep up the jumpsuit love though ;-)

faustina · 17/06/2023 12:58

I had my last delivery today - the dark navy tie neck cotton linen tee in XS and it's actually quite nice, but I'm not really sure it's worth £60 so that's going back

Proof that the new sizing isn't any more reliable than the old sizing - the v neck cotton linen tee in carbon in the same size is very fitted which I don't really like. In the pic it's not fitted at all. I might try that in the next size up if it's reduced further because the neck is lovely

I'm also sending back the pebble quilted jacket, but only on the grounds that I don't need 3 new jackets. I don't actually need 2 new jackets but the others are just too beautiful to lose (firewood and blond corduroy)

and then the panelled linen trousers in oat which I think are the old style ones they used to sell at JL, not the new ones (the label says so!), and the cotton jersey smock which is shapeless - both going back

dudsville · 17/06/2023 13:10

@Alpacasoft "Maybe they sewed her in?", I swear they do this!

@BettinaInDenmark you win for doing links! I've never learned how to do this and it really helps when were reviewing things!

It really is a perfect dress @OftenOrange , I will always admire it.

I've also bought that firewood cord jacket @faustina and a looking forward to wearing it, it seems to go with so much of my wardrobe.

Snowyowl78 · 17/06/2023 13:11

@FufferPish ive just got that parchment jumpsuit, I think I might dye it black?? I think it’s bigger than the blue one

@FufferPish ive just got that parchment jumpsuit, I think I might dye it black?? I think it’s bigger than the blue one

My blue one (which I returned) was an S and way too big and long in the body (leading to unflattering bunching). I am aiming to dye my parchment jumpsuit grey, which should hopefully come out as a warm grey, given the warm white it is currently. Bit nervous, so I will first try the dye on a bit of linen fabric I have around aiming to make a kimono jacket out of.

Snowyowl78 · 17/06/2023 13:37

@FufferPish im nervous about doing it in the washing machine

@FufferPish im nervous about doing it in the washing machine

If you're nervous, I'd suggest freshening up some faded black jeans/t-shirts first, just to see that it works, and follow the instructions. I've done that before and it's really satisfying as everything comes up looking as new.

OftenOrange · 17/06/2023 14:00

@Alpacasoft Oh dear , having studied the reviews on the Oat Check Jumpsuit I was hoping that it was going to be OK for getting on & off.
What a blunder on behalf of the design team , that’s such an important thing to get right .
How do the leg lengths compare on those two jumpsuits? I thought that the Oat looked a bit like a culotte dress when worn …..

OftenOrange · 17/06/2023 14:14

I really appreciate the longevity of Toast garments when it comes to the linen tank I’m lounging in today , picked up in a sale 5 yrs ago, it wears like iron and is so nice and slouchy . It only came in this navy pink stripe, I’d love to see it return next Summer .
Finally placed an order for the 2 check jumpsuits [feeling little hope for the Oat after reading here! ] Pebble Quilted Cord jacket , and Ochre Ruffle shirt.
I haven’t read much love for the Ruffle number here, but I tried it in store when it first came in and loved it .
However , knowing me , it will probably end up in the Toast shirt museum as I don’t feel comfy in fancy outfits!
@BettinaInDenmark I love those links ! I was tempted by the Check mul mul shirt too.

OftenOrange · 17/06/2023 14:16

Iron vest as above

Iron vest as above

Looks nice! I find Toast cotton jersey tends to develop the infamous holes near the belt area (despite me never wearing a belt and never leaning against anything). They usually last 2 years or so.

OftenOrange · 17/06/2023 14:35

That’s a tricky area to fix ; this one is 100% Linen made in Portugal so maybe less fragile; well it’s supposed to be washed ‘like wool’ which I never noticed before …it’s been through the washing machine with a normal dark wash and keeps on going strong .
I’ve stopped banning myself from buying Toast garments made in China or India ,because now that would eliminate half the stock . I still wonder what sort of checks they give the factories and how the workers are really treated.

Laska2Meryls · 17/06/2023 14:42

I received the Windflower lounge dress today also. Like it a lot!

Laska2Meryls · 17/06/2023 14:45

I think that I am keeping the Stack check trousers also.. Dont think that there is anything else I want ( except then the green check pjs which will hopefully be in the autumn/ winter sale 🤣)

Blossomtoes · 17/06/2023 15:15

The workwear needlecord dress arrived this morning. It’s lovely it waaay too big. I’ve just ordered the size down and am about to return the one I’ve got. Unfortunately even the replacement will need to be shortened.

Countmeout · 17/06/2023 15:17

Sorry @Snowyowl78 was out. The kindred video. I had deleted the email but was able to retrieve it.

Countmeout · 17/06/2023 15:18

There’s another video on Toast live with it but not the same lady.

ScottishMouse · 17/06/2023 16:36

Just back from returning my sales fails to store. I tried on the new pomelo check shirt which I loved but it didn’t love me. Raglan sleeves plus boobs is a no.
But…one of the ladies working in store had the smocked gingham shirt from the sale on, and it looked so fab. I think I am going to order it to try. Having said I wouldn’t go back for any more sale items. I also love the lotus robe, but it is still a bit pricey even in the sale.

Dee1224 · 17/06/2023 16:59

Btw: My sister wouldn’t hand over the Broad Check dress😢. It looks ok on both of us, despite our very different body shapes, so it looks like I am committed to looking for returns 😩
