I love the Mya but wondering if it is the same for me. I adore the colour, it fits beautifully and very flattering but will I wear it? Not sure the puffs are really me although it is the only puffed dress that has fitted me spot on.

neveradullmoment99 · 17/06/2023 10:28

In the shoulder that is. Any kind of puff sleeve is ofset and usually sits beyond my shoulders which looks stupid.

I've decided to send back the pained check, so that's a 10 if anyone wants one, keep an eye out for it. The thought process was an interesting one. This fit me the way it does the models (rare), and I've always liked the pattern and fabric. But I left both it and the landscape dress hanging up in a door frame overnight. Every time I passed I wanted to touch and look at the landscape dress and was just imagining all it's uses, whereas I felt critical everytime I looked at the painted check, is it me, will I wear it, etc., I think I will just have to admire it on others which is the way with so many things anyway.

I absolutely love the landscape dress. Its a stunning dress and everytime I open my wardrobe I admire it too. However it is a wide dress and the waist is a bit low on me but I couldn't send it back. I was drawn to it. Ive worn it about 3 times. Its a very heavy linen. Definitely Autumn or Spring or living here in Scotland - any time!

Dee1224 · 17/06/2023 10:31

Hi, I too have decided to send the painted check dress back, so that’s another size 10 being returned, together with the matching top in size 12.

I tried it on again and, although I love it, I felt like I was playing dress up - the material is too shiny/stiff for me. I couldn’t imagine ever wearing it irl. (It’s my first contact with poplin, and I have reluctantly decided it’s not my thing🙃.)

I am waiting for my last tee, but atm it looks as if I am only keeping the black tee, (which is so lovely, I keep touching it - like @dudsville and your dress!)

I am hoping some linen pull on trousers in small are currently winging their way back to Toast 🤞

dudsville · 17/06/2023 10:03

which side split dress is this that you're discussing?

The indigo one. Its kind of column shaped, slightly gathered on the bust and is sleeveless. Couple of buttons at the top, side splts either side of hem. Its incredibly flattering on the bust on me.

Noeggsontoast · 17/06/2023 10:36

Donegal tie neck cardigan in citrus is absolutely gorgeous! So glad I picked this up in this sale after missing out last time. Definitely not disappointed.

Now to put it away and wait patiently until autumn so I can wear it and I think it will be worn a lot.

Snowyowl78 · 17/06/2023 10:39

@dudsville @neveradullmoment99 yes the indigo one, it’s very very long on me, almost to the ankle. I reckon I’d prob only take it up 2/3 inches otherwise the side splits might be lost. I’ll ask my sewing lady anyway as I can’t it it myself. Oh blimey that’s a lot of colour rub @neveradullmoment99 i was planning to wear it with my white linen tee, maybe this is a bad idea!!

im having second thoughts on the peacoat. When I tried it yesterday I was wearing shorts and tshirt and it looked a bit weird. I am appreciating its beauty a bit more today.

FufferPish · 17/06/2023 10:46

Snowyowl78 the sewing lady might also be able to take up the splits as it's a very straightforward technique and you don't need more fabric to to a split compared to a standard hem.

What size did you get In the peacoat? I am a 14. Would a small fit?

Dee1224 · 17/06/2023 10:56

I am sending back the Emma Tee in Chestnut- medium as it’s too big.

Oh well, better for my cc balance!

ilovecherries · 17/06/2023 10:57

I had to wash my wrap jumpsuit 4 times before it was wearable. I do wish they’d set the dye a bit better.

Royal Mail has managed to deliver 2 parcels on time.

Bit of a fail. I am keeping the socks.

The sailor collar wool sweater has enormously long sleeves, I am a great fan of a long sleeve but these maybe just tipped over into too long.
I’m not as keen on the neckline as I thought I’d be and the spilts at the sides go up too far. It also seems biggish in my usual knitwear size and I don’t like it enough to try a smaller size.

I ordered the Brushed check blouse as I liked the material when I saw it I store and certainly didn’t need a dress in it. But it also seems a bit big and again the neckline is not for me. You couldn’t leave the necktie undone as far as I can see. it also seemed to sit funny on my chest.

My cord jacket now won’t arrive until Monday with the Peacoat and the checked sundress. Hope something works.
My only worry is that the Peacoat will be too big, I take 10-12 in upper garments in Toast and I have ordered a small @neveradullmoment99

The socks are fine btw, falke cosy wool. And fit.

dudsville · 17/06/2023 11:12

I've recieved a lovely pair of socks today too @Countmeout , the falke boot ones, have a few more fakle socks coming.

I also bought the plum check. I really liked the sample dress I bought from you @Snowyowl78 but decided the fabric was too heavy so passed it on to my cousin, I remembered that this version of that fabric was much lighter weight and I have a few of this dress style, so easy to wear.

I also recieved the plum cardi and instantly felt it was me. I had tried the pea green one but it wasn't my colour palette. And finally I'm keeping the cotton cashmere charcoal/ecru (?) check trousers. OMG are these things comfy, can hardly feel them on, their like air spun or sprayed on (but obviously lovely slouchy look irl!). Does anyone have them and wear them outside, or am I just investing in what will be a much loved homewear item?

I took a chance (a lot of my "wins" are not the items I anticipated) on the crew neck rib sweater in pecan, but I didn't even try it on. It's cotton/alpaca/merino mix but I really didn't like the feel and look of it. And another of the gathered half sleeve tees arrived, but I learned yesterday that I do not like these. The cuff falls just below my elbow and I think I'd constantly be aware of it.

Nice dress @neveradullmoment99 ! Today I'm in a pair of faded black cotton linen culottes. I have these in black and in tan and they are summer staples for me. They're the pleated front ones of several years back. I sewed down the pleats as they were quite puffy and I was always catching them on things! I'm wearing it with an ecru/chalk type colour gathered cuff (bracelet length) tee.

I don't know this indigo dress for shortenting, but sympathies on the colour transfer @Snowyowl78.

Alpacasoft · 17/06/2023 11:17

The Cross check jumpsuits arrived and the XS fits and is still roomy.
Thanks so much @FufferPish for posting about this.
It's absolutely perfect👌
I prefer the smaller check as no arrow at the back which forms with the larger check.
Anyone who is thinking of ordering I'm a 12 RL , the Small would fit a 14-16 .
It's that roomy.
So elegant and a lovely crisp cotton.
2 jumpsuits heading back so I might go for another pair of PJs .
I should add I feel they are not my style --plain- as day wear apart from the turquoise nightie last year which I use on the beach.

Snowyowl78 · 17/06/2023 11:29

@FufferPish oh thanks for that, I’ll ask her, she’s very good. Really I’d like it taken up 5 inches which is what I’ve done on a few dresses now (nearly all of them! My toast dresses become even more expensive!)

@neveradullmoment99 @Countmeout the peacoat is very big, I’m a 14 and the small is roomy. I also have the medium but I don’t think I’ll even bother trying on. Although I should probably test with a jumper for autumn too. If you’re a 10 you might even fit the XS if there is one. I’m not especially large (or small) of bust though, I think that would be the only dealbreaker.

Snowyowl78 · 17/06/2023 11:30

@dudsville i tried that pecan jumper and it was terrible. It was so small I tried the large and it was way too tight and terribly unflattering

Countmeout · 17/06/2023 11:34

Well that sounds like a possible fail for me as well then @Snowyowl78 . I’ll wait until I see it in the flesh to decide if I even like it and then think about ordering xs.
So much for the new sizing.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 17/06/2023 11:45

I’ve reordered the Fracap hiker boots as I have decided I will get lots of wear out of them in the autumn and winter, but I can’t live with the bit of insole that isn’t stuck down properly.

Lovely hearing about everyone’s purchases, really tempted by the Peacoat now but I suspect I would be forever getting brown dog hair all over it.

Snowyowl78 · 17/06/2023 11:50

@Countmeout aw sorry to disappoint, it is meant to be large I think, when’s it coming?
id always buy a 12 in toast tops

ScottishMouse · 17/06/2023 12:02

Another parcel arrived here this morning with a smaller size in the Sutton dress. I shouldn’t have bothered, as the colour really isn’t me.
My parcel also contained the vneck jersey dress (non-sale) that recently came back into stock. It is an excellent fit. I would never usually wear sleeveless dresses or tops, but the armholes on this fall perfectly. I am worried though about the bum getting baggy from sitting…what is anyone’s experience? (Sorry, I can’t remember who has it, but I know at least one person does.)
I also got an eBay purchase in the post which is fab. It’s a very light and airy check Mul Mul shirt from a few years back. Perfect condition, will be great for the warmer weather, and was a good price, so very pleased.
I’ll be off to a shop with my returns later - only keeping the square collar poplin dress from the sale, and perhaps the vneck dress too. But I do love the look of the pomelo check shirt in the new drop, so may check that out in the shop.

Alpacasoft · 17/06/2023 12:20

@FufferPish

Sorry I don't do pics.

The Oar , large check went back as was excruciatingly difficult to get on and off and too short by about 3 inches in the body.
It was on, off and sent back this morning😅
Also as per my prev post the way it was cut formed an arrow down into my bottom!
So pleased with the one I kept.
Post as many pictures as you like , it's so helpful
I'm wondering how the 5'10 model got in the Oar check jumpsuit
Maybe they sewed her in?

A short report on my take on the sale goods, I received yesterday:

Blouson Sleeve Organic Strata Check Dress - Feels very summery and airy. Sizewise what I expected. Keeper
Gathered Neck Organic Poplin Tank Top - Nice top, I have one in the same shape from years ago. This one also has very large, bra-showing armholes, but I think I’ll keep it
Stripe Soft Organic Cotton Tee - Smaller than I expected. Will go back.
Organic Cotton Pique Shirt - I got both the Herb and the Dahl colourways. Sizewise as expected, but weird shape on me. Better for someone without my protruding belly… Going back
V-Neck Wool Cashmere Sweater in Topaz - Wonderful! A bit oversized, but so am I. Really soft, like two Toast round-neck wool cashmere sweaters I got last year. Keeper.
Check Hand Woven Mulmul Shirt - Love it despite the clown collar. Keeper
Tint Stripe Cotton Poplin Shirt - I was afraid it would be see-through, but it isn’t. Love it. Keeper
Collared Wool Cotton Cardigan - A bit scratchy, but nice. Keeper
Cotton Merino Marl Knitted Tank - A bit tight on me, but love it together with the Birch set, so will keep anyway.
Gathered River Print Dress - It is ginormous! Love the colours, so might reorder in smaller size
Gathered Sketched Leaf Dress - Makes me look like a blob… Back it goes
Panelled Linen Trousers Ink Blue - Great trousers! Ordered a size down, which was good. Keeper
Colour Block Organic Poplin Skirt - Like it, but does ad to my belly. Might order a size down.
Gathered Cotton Slub Half Sleeve Tee - I ordered same size as the two I got last year, but this one is definitely smaller. Jury is still out…
Windflower Organic Cotton Lounge Dress - This blue nightie is same fabric pattern as the orange/rust I got last year, and which I have used as a dress some of these hot days. I think I will love this on equally much even if it is a slightly different shape

The rest of my haul was socks and a scarf, which I have not looked closer at yet.
All in all I’m quite happy so far with this sale!

Hmm, don't know why some of the above looks like links - they are not.

BettinaInDenmark · 17/06/2023 12:29

Oh, apparently they are...
