I went into the Marylebone branch today to have a look, no intention of buying but somehow came away with three teeshirts and a dress. I bought the tank in mango and in brown ochre, lovely quality and good styling around the neck and arms (no gaping). I bought the medium in both and I am a 12: could possibly have sized up.

I also bought the bold stripe linen tee in mango and braeburn: again, great quality.

I tried on a few dresses and couldn’t resist the Bryan Scenery Print Crepe dress in Pomelo although I was tempted by the radicchio too. I eventually sized down to a small as the medium looked a little loose.

I tried on and loved the Flora Check Seersucker dress in a 10 but I already have the blouse in that pattern. I also tried on the Alder Check Cotton Seersucker dress but the colour isn’t for me. It has a concealed button on the neckline to preserve modesty as the cut is low.

Ah thanks for the feedback, the fabrics look really lovely, @ToastCosILoveIt The yellow shirt is fab! Will feedback once the parcel gets here - I want him to love it for some reason!

@dudsville I bought my OH a long sleeved polo in the Christmas sale, sizing was surprisingly accurate. Obviously being Toast that probably won’t apply to everything 😁.

Sorry this was meant for @Saurus72

Enjoying reading about how people are getting on in the sale.

Thought I was done for a while but the Camille bed linen duvet covers and pillowcases have been added to the sale and I've been meaning to buy these

As regulars on these threads know - household items come out of a totally different budget from clothes (so don't count) 😀

ilovecherries · 15/06/2023 23:06

Following on from pyjamas as daywear. I have this dress and the balloon trousers in a same fabric from a previous sale. I’ve never actually worn the dress. Do you think they could be worn together? I have a very arty/creative thing in London at the end of July and I’m wondering if they would work together? And then how to style them? The obvious is dress open over a black or white tank but I’m wondering if there are better ways to do it? Or just no, step away from the co-ords! https://www.toa.st/search?query=Stack%20check%20dress

@Saurus72 i buy the men’s, generally shirts and T-shirts- I find the T-shirts are generally not very big so alway go for a large, the shirts are sometimes a bit oversized and end up with a medium.

DarlingCoffee · 16/06/2023 06:25

@ilovecherries yes, I think it would look tres chic and arty to pair the two!

DarlingCoffee · 16/06/2023 06:27

@ilovecherries i would style with some statement jewellery and the ubiquitous Birkenstocks

dudsville · 16/06/2023 06:47

@ilovecherries , i think they absolutely work well together. I tried it on me and it just wasn't my style, hence turning the dres into a top/jacket. The fabric isn't super thin so I also felt it was a lot of fabric for me to have around my middle. BUT the overall effect I thought looked good.

Hello, I hope it's ok for me to dip into the thread to ask if anyone has tried the Maya check cotton dress? I'm very tempted by it, but it would need to be perfect for me to justify getting another dress...

www.toa.st/collections/sale/products/maya-check-cotton-dress-golden-brown

Is the 'new sizing' a dramatic change - or should I try my usual Toast size?

Thank you.

I have last year’s maya, bought preloved. I really like it. It’s a very soft cotton (unlike the more poplin cotton they often use), but still substantial, not a voile. I have a 12 and it fits perfectly. I’m pretty much a 12 across the high street, though I sometimes need a 14 to accommodate 32Gs, but this was plenty big enough.

Hi @JofraArchersFastestBall Welcome to the thread. I tried the Maya on in the shop some time ago in the darker colour. It’s beautiful fabric but quite heavy.

I am a real life size 12 and the medium just fitted, (so Toast really have adjusted the sizes on this style). I found that the combo of big puffy sleeves and the placement of the waist gave me a kind of Elizabethan servant vibe, (not what I was looking for🤣).

It didn’t suit me at all, but I think it would look good on taller people with smaller busts.

ilovecherries · 16/06/2023 09:10

Thanks for the reassurances and ideas re the stacked check ensemble. I think I just need to be brave and go for it. I need a week of outfits but I’ve also got a long journey from Scotland and I will still be using a walking stick probably so I need to commit before I go to what I’m going to wear everyday - no multiple back ups!

I have thought about taking that dress down to a jacket but I love the pockets and don’t want to lose them.

And open with a tank, do you think - I suspect I look a bit box like with it buttoned up?

Dee1224 · 16/06/2023 09:11

@JofraArchersFastestBall I meant to say that size 12 in Maya just fitted!

Countmeout · 16/06/2023 09:11

Really envious of those who are getting their parcels today and looking forward to hearing how they go.
My first is due tomorrow but likely to be Monday if it doesn’t reach the local sorting office in time as that quite often happens. The Peacoat is estimated to be Monday.

I’m sorry I ordered a jumper now as I can’t bear the thought of trying it on in the heat.

Dee1224 · 16/06/2023 09:13

@Countmeout - I think it would look good open, with a white or even black tee underneath. That way, you can take it off if it’s too warm!

Dee1224 · 16/06/2023 09:14

Main parcel coming today - why oh why didn’t I order linen trousers like I said I would?🥲

I also see it doesn’t mention new sizing on the description, so I assume with this item it will be the same as before. I think things labelled in dress sizes, like the Maya, are less likely to have changed than the SML sizing.

Today’s campsite chic 😂. Anhoki dress from 2019 bought preloved. One of those very successful pre loved buys as it doesn’t have a single mark or stain on it, but has obviously been worn and washed loads as the cotton has reached that perfect level of softness and the harshness has gone from the colour. Worn with olive tevas.

Lovely@ilovecherries !

I am wearing my red floral pj top (for the first time), with a pair of non-toast shorts. I have decided to use this and the painted falls as summer tops. They are too nice to remain as an unworn part of pjs, so this way they will get some use!

JofraArchersFastestBall · 16/06/2023 09:33

Thank you @ilovecherries and @Dee1224 - that's very useful. I'm tall, and not blessed in the chest department, so I think I'll give it a try. I have my all time favourite Toast dress on today which is nicely roomy in a 12, so will stick to that.
Hoping that the Maya will have a similar cut and fabric, and that the longer sleeves aren't too puffy on me.

That dress looks lovely @ilovecherries . I am in the talia green again. It’s the best fitting with the new sizing - my new sizing that is!

I have this too, also in a 12, and love it. It’s a little looser on me than the Maya, but not a full dress size worth. This is how the 12 in it is fitting on me. Can’t find a pic of me in the Maya.

I am becoming somewhat committed to the idea of PJs as daywear. Bet you look great.
