@Stoic123 Im hoping it’s not too swingy at the back as I’m quite short. I’m justifying it as my green raincoat is slightly shabby. But I’m a bit of a coataholic .

dudsville · 15/06/2023 08:13

RM is delivering tomorrow, the first of too many!

Snowyowl78 · 15/06/2023 08:23

@FufferPish ive just been looking at that parchment jumpsuit- the description says it’s ‘garment dyed’ and I think that means you won’t get the white stitching??

FufferPish · 15/06/2023 08:54

Really? That would be great. Clothing descriptions seem to be written in a secret code! I checked and you're correct, it's dyed after it was made. But the mystery remains: they could have made it with white synthetic thread (usually polyester) or they did not dye it since it is white, basically.

oddandelsewhere · 15/06/2023 08:57

I think I 'm just slightly falling out of love with Toast. I used to want so many things every season, now not quite so much. There was very little in the spring that I liked, only the indigo patch pocket jacket which I did buy, and nothing in the latest drop. The only sale things I liked I already have! Because I needed a new dress for an event I paid full price for the tangerine boat neck linen dress and the washed black v neck jersey dress. They both have to go back. You can see straight through the linen one in sunshine because the fabric is so thin, and the jersey one has a back split which I would NEVER wear, but which was not mentioned in the description or shown in a picture.
To add insult to injury, I took them back to Llandeilo yesterday to return them on my way to somewhere else, and found that the shop had closed for an hour for lunch. It seems unprofessional to randomly change opening hours in this way, I suppose they had a staffing problem but perhaps the could have just closed for 15 minutes and got a sandwich? Anyway, I couldn't wait so I'll just post the parcels back.

Snowyowl78 · 15/06/2023 09:33

@oddandelsewhere sorry to hear of your bad experiences, I have the black jersey dress- just out of interest, what was the back split? Do you mean the split on the hem?

oddandelsewhere · 15/06/2023 09:49

Yes, the split at the hem.

BettinaInDenmark · 15/06/2023 10:20

When the early sale-message popped up in my mailbox on Tuesday, I hurried to the website, eager to see if any of my faves had entered the sale. Not really - but silly me ended up ordering som 20 items anyway... ;) I'm hoping they will be sent off to me soon.

This morning I took another look at the website to see which new items had been added. Hmm, I immediately fell for two dresses, until I realised that I already have them both, and was actually wearing one of them, the Gathered Turrell Check Dress. Scatterbrained me.

agnesmartin · 15/06/2023 10:27

I bought far too many things and have NO IDEA on sizing so imagine most will go back. Some very sensible purchases, thermals and hot water bottle (their fleece water bottles are amazing btw!) and some where I got caught up imagining a lifestyle I no longer have! Looks like a couple of parcels are arriving tomorrow, so we will see.

I did go back and buy the v-neck jersey dress in a larger size. The pockets still stick out a bit but looks good with tops under/over and so have kept as I think I'll be able to wear it through the seasons. It's also just incredibly comfy.

ilovecherries · 15/06/2023 10:39

I have cracked on the no-spend/minimal spend front and ordered the small Kate Sheridan box bag. I have convinced myself this is a need, rather than a want and at least I have a daughter who needs frisked every time she leaves the house to see what she’s appropriated from my wardrobe so I know it will get lots of use.

That made me laugh@BettinaInDenmark , that's happened to a few of us on here! In one sale i was considering buying some linen trousers, but was v critical of them, umming and ahing, only to find i had actually purchased them in a winter sale previously and forgotten about them! I love them. I'm an idiot. I now frequently check toast site comments for my own review to remind myself why i didn't like a thing.

OftenOrange · 15/06/2023 11:35

Shopping vicariously is almost as good as the real thing , now I’m excited to hear about the results . Postage seems super fast which means that I shan’t order anything until Sunday . There’s nothing I shall be devastated to miss in event of selling out , and I’m cooling off quite a few basket items whilst adding more based on reports here.
Like @FufferPish I’m broad shouldered straight up and down , I love a jumpsuit most so will consider adding to my collection .
Meanwhile here in South the rains have gone and I’m christening last year’s Painted Check top with a pair of shorts .
A lovely hand to the crisp cotton , and a cool airy piece.
I tried the dress but returned it , the top works better for me .

I have ordered that top to try, as well as the dress @OftenOrange - they are supposed to be arriving tomorrow so I will report back.

Dee1224 · 15/06/2023 12:00

It looks good on you!

I had 2 identical dresses which I bought in 2 separate sales without realising
ive just gifted my sister one of them

faustina · 15/06/2023 13:54

I think they might have added some other things to the sale? There's a top which wasn't there when I looked the other day

ToastCosILoveIt · 15/06/2023 14:44

ilovecherries · 13/06/2023 22:06

I am also lounging about it Toast - lying on bed with fan on.

@ilovecherries , I was passing through St Pancras International yesterday and I saw a women wearing this in the nightie version with the matching PJ bottoms: obviously wearing it as day wear and very nice it looked too. I was wearing a Toast dress myself and if I had been quicker I would have complemented her on her look. I suppose in theory it might have been you or one of our other lovely Toasties from this thread 😀

lordloveadog · 15/06/2023 15:05

I often wear the nightwear as daywear, but so far not in central London. Am now thinking I should be bolder.

ilovecherries · 15/06/2023 15:14

I have PJs bought in the last sale, purely on the basis of seeing an Instagram stylist sitting outside a cafe in Paris wearing them. Haven’t done it yet, but soon…I’m working up to it!

In case there are any stragglers who haven't been regularly refreshing the Toast webpage today: Sale items are now visible to the non-Kindred public!

ScottishMouse · 15/06/2023 15:36

Got my sale parcel today. I paid for next day delivery as I will be away next week. Sadly, i think everything is going back. Maybe even the socks!

Poplin square neck dress is lovely but the armholes gape massively.

Linen ticking dress is massive. I ordered xs based on reviews (usually a S or M in Toast dresses), and it still feels too much. Very long, quite a lot of fabric on the top half too. I’ll try it again later but so far not loving it.

The Sutton gingham dress I ordered in 12 (the usual size I go for in button up shirt dresses), but I should have tried a 10 too. It is maybe a little too big. I also don’t know if the colours are great on me, and they’re a bit autumnal when I really only wear dresses in the summer. Does anyone have this? Show it some love and convince me.

The linen trousers with the pockets on the side of the leg (can’t remember what they are called) are too big in S (xs was sold out), not massively so but enough that they are very unflattering around the belly.

The linen cotton Alix in slate I thought would be a keeper. I have them in 8 and they are too big. But I can’t get the 6 over my thighs (which are not where my problems usually are!). Figure that out.

The neat cardi in bracken would have been a keeper but I think I have got a dodgy one, as the button placket does not sit centrally.

And the socks just don’t seem worth the price, even in the sale. A bit thin and meh.

I may have to go back for another look now, I thought there would be at least a couple of keepers in all that.

OftenOrange · 15/06/2023 15:48

@ScottishMouse How disappointing for you , though you’re right to go on first reaction for decisions about returns.
This sizing issue is unacceptable because surely any manufacturer can see when a garment is ludicrously big rather than oversized in a stylish way .
The neat cardigan is one of my Sale l successes from last time , the Pea colour turned out to be such a delicious green , nothing like the photo., so maybe worth trying again?

ScottishMouse · 15/06/2023 15:52

Yes @OftenOrange , I may try ordering the cardigan again if it’s available still. Maybe also the Sutton dress in a 10. It’s crazy how massive the xs in the linen dress is and how tiny the size 6 in the Alix trousers are. You would think they would be aimed at the same people!

Stravaig · 15/06/2023 15:58

I've been enjoying all your sale fun! This grumpy OG Toastie is now allowed in for a wander around.

There is such a lot of it! Including items I don't remember ever seeing before, and others with reviews which are years old. They need to revive the 80% off archive sales to actually clear things out.

I wonder if they should pare their collections back a bit? The sheer quantity of items is getting a bit overwhelming, and it detracts somewhat from the carefully cultivated aura of thoughtful, quirky, a bit niche.

Meantime, I've been doing my annual summer wash/handwash/air/ruthless cull and unearthed some vintage Toast gems. I'll save the pics for a between sale lull! Other treasures include a mid 90's fuchsia velvet and green floral silk corset top from Jigsaw, oh my.

Saurus72 · 15/06/2023 16:04

Disappointing @ScottishMouse . Though maybe there will be some perfect pieces if they do an additional sales drop in a few days. I just can’t understand their approach to sizing at all. Fine if dveythyis over/undersized, at least you know where you are. But when a dress is massive but I’d supposedly in he new sizing, what makes them say that there’s no longer any need to size down? Surely they have fit models and can tell it’s huge? Very puzzling. My 2 x jumpers, jacket and socks are all being delivered tomorrow. I kind of hope I love only one item as my bank balance will breathe a sigh of relief.
