I tried on the toast vest and found it a perfect fit. Very comfortable. High neck, which I like and it didn’t dig in anywhere. Weighty cotton fabric.

Noodle421 · 11/06/2023 09:34

My favourite piece of all so far of the recent toast collection is the cotton/linen Reed blouse. I didn’t like it in the photos online, but fell in love with it when I tried it on in the shop. It’s so comfortable and light weight, perfect for a very hot day. Oversize, but not ridiculously so. Has a pretty, soft and stylish silhouette, not so soft that it loses shape. It’s not too fussy, the arms look wide but become less so when worn and most importantly don’t look bulky. I love wearing it. A surprise hit for me this season. I bought it in the largest size - any smaller would have stretched over the bust. My sizing is all over the place. I’m used to wearing the old Toast in a size small. Now I can range between small to XL to size 10 to size 14 depending on the garment. I’ve just bought an older style pinafore dress on eBay in a size 10 - fits perfectly with plenty of room.

Noodle421 · 11/06/2023 09:36

I wear it with a white camisole/vest underneath

Snowyowl78 · 11/06/2023 09:38

@Noodle421 whats the sizing like on that vest? I would normally go for medium generally (RL 14) but I think these are likely to be smaller…

Noeggsontoast · 11/06/2023 08:25

@ilovecherries it's a relaxed/easy fit around the waist, but neat on the shoulders and bust. I always wear it with the belt for a more defined waist. I took my usual Toast size, a size down would have been too small.

It's a lovely dress, always get a compliment when wearing and such cheery colours.

Thank you. Is you toast size a lot smaller than your normal size? I do have a lot of Toast dresses in a 12, but I have the anokhi button through in a 14 and I don’t think it looks too big. Then I bought the elm in a 12 and had to get it altered. It’s still a lot of money even second hand and Toast doesn’t seem to be moving as quickly as it used to if I needed to resell - mainly as people are asking a lot for it I expect, as personally I always sell quickly but that’s because I price a bit lower.

@Noodle421 I agree on the Reed blouse, it’s so much nicer IRL too.
I took my usual toast size and find the fit good so long as it doesn’t shrink .
I bought it as a best whitish linen top to wear on hot evenings here in France.
Love long sleeved linen plus linen wide trousers for evenings, mosquitos a serious hazard here.

It’s great isn’t it ? So easy to wear. I saw it styled with cream cotton skirt and it looked fab because there is cream in the top. My sizing feels a bit out of kilter because of, I’m presuming peri/meno body changes. My bust used to be quite small but now I’m finding fabrics are tight across the chest area. I’m not sure whether my bust is larger or the width of my back has widened 🤔 It’s the first time this has ever been an issue for me. I’m learning to embrace it !

I’m sorry I can’t remember ! I think it’s pretty standard sizing I liked it but didn’t buy it because it was intended to go with another top I have but the colours didn’t work together. I do remember thinking ‘this is a nice little tank’ I suppose it depends on how snug you want it - I wanted it to be worn underneath as a layering piece so needed it to be well fitting. I’m a small in the old size boy T shirts - so I’m guessing I tried on a small in the vest top and it fit perfectly. There is give in the fabric. I’m sure the large would have been too big. I’m usually a 10 on top - closer to a 12 than an 8. In summary : I’d be inclined to order your usual size.

Noeggsontoast · 11/06/2023 10:25

@ilovecherries in real life which is hard to tell because of sizing, in seasalt and whistles I'm an 8. In jigsaw I'm a 10. M & S an 8, in white stuff and me&em touch and go either 8 or 10.

So in the aster dress I took an 8, but in the Elm dress a 6.

My rule with Toast is if it's a button through or defined waist dress I stick to an 8, anything easy with no defined bust or waist I go to a 6. Toast skirts always an 8.

I'm not sure if that helps.

Noeggsontoast · 11/06/2023 10:29

@ilovecherries ps I also have the anokhi Khiva print button through (yellow/navy) and that's an 8 too.

That’s useful. Maybe if you wear the same size in the aster and the anokhi I’d be better hanging out for a 14 as I’m not sure my chest would fit into a 12 in my yellow/navy anokhi. Thank you!

I bought some shorts in the September sale (I think, definitely once things had cooled down). They were intended to be worn with thick tights in cooler months as well as bare legged in summer but I forgot about them. Found them unworn in Feb but had managed to put a fair amount of weight on over winter and they looked dreadful. Three months with a PT and I've got them on today. SO flattering and comfortable.

They are nearly identical to the skort I had for brownies in the nineties but I'll forgive them. Wearing with a linen V-neck black t-shirt (Fatface) tucked in to lazy around the garden and summon up energy to tidy my little veg plot.

Countmeout · 11/06/2023 12:50

It’s quite sticky here. I’m wearing the Stella (?) dress I dyed and also let down. Not too revealing but nice and cool as it’s cotton and sleeveless, also very forgiving of a few extra pounds.

dudsville · 11/06/2023 13:13

I'd be interested to see how the dye turned out on that dress @Countmeout ?

I've been saving my new blue grey poplin trousers that i bought last week, hoping they'd be in the sale so i could return them, but they're so perfect for this weather as they look substantial but feel like air!

ToastCosILoveIt · 11/06/2023 14:59

Loving all the clothes chatter this weekend.

I'm in another yellow offering from last year: again, loose and light.

Countmeout · 11/06/2023 15:01

i was happy enough how the colour turned out @dudsville as I really didn’t suit it in grey. I used orange. The thread didn’t dye as it is polyester. It’s made it more likely I’ll wear it and as I had bought it on eBay it’d have been no matter if it messed up.

Countmeout · 11/06/2023 15:02

It’s not as brown as it looks in that photo 🫤

dudsville · 11/06/2023 15:17

It's a lovely colour, I've never thought too use orange!

AFingerofFudge · 11/06/2023 15:28

@ToastCosILoveIt I had that dress on yesterday. So floaty and light!

I was in Toast today for their circle event- not very inspiring I have to say.

I also had a look at the new season stuff although there was quite a few items not in yet. The striped poplin dress was a beautiful shape however the pattern looked like a pair of pyjamas so I didn't even try that on.
I tried on the Bryn Scenery crepe dress, it comes up quite small, definitely their new sizing applies. Didn't like the collar so it won't be on my list.
The Selma cotton dress was beautiful and I bought it in the 14. I'm a high street 14 and this one was a smidge too tight, but I tried on the 16 and it was definitely too big.

Saving the rest of my money for the sale!!

Laska2Meryls · 11/06/2023 15:42

Despite a likely sale I am thinking of buying the Garment Dyed Linen Tunic Dress does anyone have it? Im busty so in the old size id probably go large 14/16 but is it new sizing? I may have to have XL if so.
I am currently sitting outside my campervan in NL and its 32deg !🥵

lordloveadog · 11/06/2023 15:59

That orange dye turned out so well, @Countmeout!

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 11/06/2023 16:10

I’m wearing my fenugreek balloon trousers and a grey toast vest top (from Vinted).

Made a trip to the aquatics garden centre and wore the black poplin shirt from last year’s sale to stop me from burning. The shirt was probably a mistake as I was far too hot, but the trousers were so comfortable although now very crumpled (like the rest of me).

missmoon · 11/06/2023 17:21

I'm thinking of buying the Stripe Organic Crinkle Poplin Dress, and wondered if anyone had seen or tried it in real life? Is it quite large (as in voluminous)? As is it smart enough to wear to a garden party (not a wedding, just smart work event)?

I’m wearing an Ikat dress today, which I think I bought in 2018, looking back at old photos.
