Went out in my new frock last night thought I looked rather okay.

I've lost loads of weight recently and feel like heading towards a New Normal Me.

But then scrolling through S&B I find I'm ubiquitous Sad

Aibu to think I should change my style ALREADY?

Also bonus points, for guess my size, age, favourite animal Wink

These trainers don't really go with a flowery maxi dress IMO. Makes the whole outfit too bulky.

LaffTaff · 04/06/2023 19:35

Not my style at all, but you look tidy and very well presented.

I would admire your bag though if I passed you, i've never had an amberley but i've learned my lesson with the locks (i'm OCD about keeping them shiny and finger print free) so i've now got a mini zipped bayswater, don't need to touch the lock 😂 (and in black - i've also learned my lesson with colours!).

PumpkinsAndCoconuts · 04/06/2023 19:37

I really like the dress and the shoes btw. I'm just not sure about the whole outfit.

But what ultimately matters is your opinion. If you like it and feel comfortable in it? That's a perfect outfit!

Zone2NorthLondon · 04/06/2023 19:39

You look great. The bag,the dress the trainers. Nowt wrong with it. Don’t change anything

NatashaDancing · 04/06/2023 19:41

and I hate big floral prints as they just scream Matalan to me. Sorry if I’m harsh - I have a very critical view on fashion & styling and work in the industry so have seen it all!!

So Erdem, Max Mara, Eponine, Zimmerman, Pink City Prints, Dooen, Batsheva, Justine Tabak, Dolce and Gabanna, Suzanna , Cabbages and Roses scream Matalan to you? Are you sure you work in the fashion industry?

Lecoqdor · 04/06/2023 19:46

@NatashaDancing Thank you for identifying the dress. I was huffily thinking "I bet it's made of bloody viscose", but it's cotton so that's very good. It's the sort of thing Boden should be doing, if they could see their way past artificial fibres.

I am not a fan of the denim jacket and trainers, but that's because I never, ever wear denim or trainers, not because there's anything wrong with them per se. They're just not my thing, though I'm hardly the height of fashion.

I think you look fine, OP.

bringincrazyback · 04/06/2023 19:48

I really like your outfit OP. Possibly lighter weight trainers would work better as a PP mentioned, but overall I like it. Cliches be damned 😃

SpanielsByTheSea · 04/06/2023 19:48

I think the dress looks great on you. I posted a thread about the same dress and was told sandals would be ‘frumpsville’, so someone will hate whatever you wear.

I wouldn’t wear it with trainers, but that’s just my taste. If I saw you in the street, I’d do a double take and probably decide that frock is for me too.

Jacopo · 04/06/2023 19:50

You look fine OP. I’m guessing size 10 and age 38. Favourite animal a hamster.
I can’t wait for the fashion for gigantic dresses made with metres and metres of fabric to go away. When it does, denim jackets and trainers will still be in fashion.
I think the fashion for gigantic dresses has been created because people’s figures are “larger” and the flowing fabric disguises this. However these dresses just make less large people look larger too!

Here's another very upmarket version of the print although more fitted.

Diane Von Furstenberg

I liked your sandals choice.

ememem84 · 04/06/2023 19:55

I really like the bag’ where’s it from please

jays · 04/06/2023 19:55

midsomermurderess · 04/06/2023 17:05

Christ, not this again. Why take that thread personally? If you like it, wear it. Don't go around with a face on because other people find it dull and, yes, ubiquitous. Such self pity over buggar all.

bloody helll! Who rattled your cage 😂

ilovesushi · 04/06/2023 19:57

You look lovely!

Its a mulberry amberley (though I can't tell from the pic if its authentic or not).

Porkandbeans1 · 04/06/2023 19:59

The problem is posters come on S&B and ask if what they are wearing is fashionable or youthful. When people reply no then we're nasty bastards. No it isn't fashionable, the trainer's don't suit the dress and the outfit is aging. But it looks nice and if the op likes it then she should wear it. But no one should be getting stick for telling the OP an answer to her questions.

EffortlessDesmond · 04/06/2023 20:00

It's perfectly wearable OP. I wouldn't stop and gasp in horror, or in admiration.

mainsfed · 04/06/2023 20:01

cittigirl · 04/06/2023 17:41

Really?!!!

Yes Google says the temperature for London now is 20 degrees too.

I think the dress is fine for thee weather though.

TheShellBeach · 04/06/2023 20:05

Size 18, age 46.

Lose the trainers.
And the denim jacket.

piedbeauty · 04/06/2023 20:06

But you look lovely. That's all that matters - that's your confident about how you look

piedbeauty · 04/06/2023 20:06

*that you're

Diane Von Furstenberg

Cotton and lycra mix
Dry clean only
Made in China

If I were paying £415 for a summer dress, I'd expect it to be cotton and made in the UK. Preferably washable, too.

Mirabai · 04/06/2023 20:08

I like the dress, I don’t think it goes with the jacket, and the trainers need to be converse type or pumps.

Lecoqdor · 04/06/2023 20:09

@mainsfed I thought I was the only one who had sensory problems with denim jackets! It's why I don't wear jeans either, but I always thought it was just me...
