Went out in my new frock last night thought I looked rather okay.

I've lost loads of weight recently and feel like heading towards a New Normal Me.

But then scrolling through S&B I find I'm ubiquitous Sad

Aibu to think I should change my style ALREADY?

Also bonus points, for guess my size, age, favourite animal Wink

Tell us your size and age?

I'm guessing size 14 and 38.

Some right nasty wankers on this thread

I do have to laugh because the what are you wearing today thread is full of frumpy disasters by supposed self confessed fashionistas. OP you look lovely

bostonchamps · 04/06/2023 19:13

I mean come on, this is just a huge fishing expedition for the OP.

Obviously anyone who comes on and says otherwise is going to be vilified.

OP you look fine. If you feel happy then it's fine. It's not the most on trend look but does it matter? This is akin to checking in at the local hospital and waiting for the 'u okay hun I'll PM you' messages to roll in.

My dress I got is huge was just one size. I’ve actually asked my DM if she can help me take it in as it has a huge skirt, which though it’s great, it’s not overly flattering!

Yes the dress is like a tent and not especially flattering on the model either.

pussycatinfluffyslippers · 04/06/2023 19:16

Size - 10/12?
Age - 30ish?
Animal - Cats (hopefully) 😺

I love the dress, but couldn't wear the denim jacket as I'd melt - even in winter.

DepartureLounge · 04/06/2023 19:16

I think you look fine but I'm slackjawed at the price of that dress, particularly if you're only going to cover it up like that. You could spend a tenth of the price at Asda and look just as nice.

Hidinginaonesie · 04/06/2023 19:17

Assuming you’re not 5’10, I’d guess size 12-14, age 52, fave animal leopard.

Yet you seem to be the rudest poster by far

I think you've picked on completely the wrong target. The thread you mention is a very gentle, mutually supportive thread. I don't post on it myself so I've no axe to grind.

Like the outfit except the trainers, they are too chunky for this outfit. Jacket seems a bit much in this weather but tbf I’d wear this and i’m late 30s. My guess would be size 14, age 53 and elephant 🤷🏻‍♀️ was going for that or monkey and don’t think u look like a monkey person 🤣

atthebottomofthehill · 04/06/2023 19:20

Little bit of a U OK HUN? post 😅 you look nice, dress is lovely, trainers too casual and spoil the dress, jacket needs to be more cropped, bag is a bit big/heavy for my eye, but why are you being all pass ag?

SheDragonheart · 04/06/2023 19:21

Are converse/vans still fashionable?
I thought the checkered platform vans are fashionable, but only if you are under 30.
Personally I hate a cropped jacket, they feel wrong and too short.

Climbles · 04/06/2023 19:22

Laureltime · 04/06/2023 17:34

Op I’m not sure if you’ve foot problems or you’ve misunderstood the white trainer trend, but it’s not trainer trainers, irs more the leather plimsole ones like this

the denim jacket doesn’t work I’m afraid either,

Completely agree that these trainers or similar would make the whole look much better. I’d probably change the bag and jacket too but just because they aren’t my style. The dress is fabulous.

User1328745 · 04/06/2023 19:22

About 5'6", size 14, around 40, I like the outfit and the green bag, fav animal is dog

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 04/06/2023 19:24

You look great, where's your bag from, I really like it?! 😊

passthegingordon · 04/06/2023 19:24

@GoodChat And yet I never said "rude". Reading comprehension not up to scratch? How's that for "rude"?

Thepleasureofyourcompany · 04/06/2023 19:26

Boden has some really nice shirt dresses without the bulk of this dress. I think the only way you can wear a dress that full is with slip ons or sandals. No bag, no jacket.

Zone2NorthLondon · 04/06/2023 19:27

Mumsnet style & beauty is utterly batshit and unintentionally funny as all the so-called rules of attire are regurgitated as if fact and actual norms. So what unfolds is an list of what one cannot wear or pair (almost everything)
However the recurring MN style and beauty dictat is that…

  1. A bolero jacket is a stylish must have. Despite a bolero being reserved for all those wishing to appear curmudgeonly
  2. One must drape a pashmina over any straps, shoulders or hint of flesh
The unintended hilarity of Style and beauty really keeps me hooked, like the time someone gravely intoned that converse are for the nanny only and one must not wear converse lest they be mistaken for the help…

I'd like to know re converse too. I'll still wear mine though.
OP, who cares what anyone else thinks! If you like it, you feel great in it, isn't that all that really matters.
I like the b&w dress in the link. I'm too booby and belly and short to wear a shirt dress, I'd look like I was about to billow away like Mary Poppins on the end of her brolly 😆

WetBandits · 04/06/2023 19:28

Dress and jacket are lovely! If you want to be comfy in trainers, maybe a pair of low-top white Converse or Vans?

GoodChat · 04/06/2023 19:29

Not as rude as calling people nasty wankers... HTH.

sakuramiyagi · 04/06/2023 19:31

I love your bag. The dress print is very summery, perfect for the weather too.

My only critique would be on the denim jacket. I think it swamps you, a more cropped jacket would nip you in at the waist.

You look great, enjoy the summer Flowers

MysteryBelle · 04/06/2023 19:32

You look fantastic. I love the dress.
