It’s another sandals one

Trying to search for some chunky sandals that fit in with current trends but also don’t make me look like I’m trying to be young (only in my 40s but work with young people so I don’t want anything too like the DM flatforms that are super trendy). What do you think of these? in black

I've just bought these from Matalan. Seem comfy and only £19 if they turn out to be rubbish!

I love those! Was going to get the DM ones any day but I may give these a try instead and save some money! Thanks for the tip!

There's nothing wrong with the Nessie ones, but I don't think they look £89 more expensive than the DMs!

Yes I agree, unfortunately I am missing a big toe and I am self conscious. Could anyone help with cheaper closed toe sandals?

Dooopylally · 27/05/2023 11:46

Ah, sorry, Newnovember, that's the holy grail of sandals isn't it?

Rosti1981 · 27/05/2023 11:59

I have some different Blowfish Malibu sandals in pale pink from Schuh, I love them, but then I think there was quite a bit of consensus on a previous thread I had that I'm a bit play it safe / dull. Trying to branch out there...

Anyway I love docs, but I also quite like squishy platform comfy ones. They're not leather but I am ok with that, and they are slightly more approachably priced.

I've got my eye on some Air and Grace Moli sandals too but they are quite £££.

Rosti1981 · 27/05/2023 12:00

Actually tried to return them as I ordered a size that was too big, they accidentally sent me the size down and when I tried them my feet liked them! https://www.schuh.co.uk/womens/blowfish-malibu-laela-vegan-pale-pink-sandals/1744643360/

Yep and so hard to find.

Blueuggboots · 27/05/2023 17:43

I've got the Keen Ella back strap sandals in white, I love them!!!

Jkrowlingsarmy · 28/05/2023 18:01

I am loving all the DM posts - I now want a pair 🤦‍♀️.

also the COL comment has made my evening - this is a shopping thread 😂

JaneJeffer · 28/05/2023 18:19

Thank you they are nice and much more affordable.

Since there seem to be people on here who have the Moshulu ginger-ale sandals -

I bought some the other week, but as I suspected, the straps rub my feet raw wherever they touch (as with almost all sandals that aren't super-soft suede, and even some of those!) and the cork footbed also gives me blisters under my big toes as I twist when I push off. I can somewhat help that with smooth gel pads that you stick in, though they don't stick that well to cork, especially in the summer heat. The straps are harder to fix; I have moleskin, Engo patches, other stick on padded linings etc, but my experience in the past has been that those things aren't great on straps as they never stay put that long. Online suggests that sometimes getting sandals slightly wet/spraying them with water and then letting them dry on your feet can soften the straps a bit. Has anyone got these sorts of sandals wet before? Did they turn out OK when they dried? Some sites also suggest a natural foot cream can help as it rubs off on the underside of straps, but you have to be careful not to get it on the sole as that can cause slipping and more blisters. Any suggestions of good creams that work for this? (I have compeed blister stick and the like, but that doesn't really do it for this kind of issue).

PaltnSepper · 28/05/2023 21:04

Thanks, yes I've got that too! It's like the compeed one but more of a cream than a stick.

The sandals are probably perfectly ordinary - it's my feet that aren't! Very easily blistered with the tiniest amount of rubbing, and I walk kind of weirdly so twist as I push off which then makes blisters/calluses on the sole as well. I have orthotics but no good for sandals, and actually not that great for normal shoes either as they usually end up making it rub on my heels - at least sandals are less likely for thet. Fit flops with cushioned soles are not bad in the winter, but they don't have similar in the summer - their sandals are things like the Gracie ones, which have different soles, and have stitching on them that rubs as well as the straps. Such nightmare feet! It's why I was disappointed to see the hate for Gabor on recent threads, as those are sometimes not too bad for me (and so I will probably get some anyone).

JaneJeffer · 28/05/2023 21:43

I've got awkward feet as well. I like Earth Spirit sandals because they're so comfortable. Not the sporty looking ones.

Here's some photos of the platforms on Shein I tried to go with the same style you had in your post. I think Shein will really surprise you. It's a great site and you can find decent prices too

lyingonthebeach · 07/06/2023 19:15

I love the Blowfish sandals. Think I'll try and get a pair.

Agree.

Horrible company and environmentally awful too.

Ginola2345 · 07/06/2023 22:13

I have a similar paid of Blow fish sandals and can confirm the sole is extremely comfy.

evilharpy · 10/06/2023 10:01

Sorry I haven't read the whole thread but I think these from R&B are lovely - not sure what your budget is.

M&S have similar ones for only £45.
