It’s another sandals one

Trying to search for some chunky sandals that fit in with current trends but also don’t make me look like I’m trying to be young (only in my 40s but work with young people so I don’t want anything too like the DM flatforms that are super trendy). What do you think of these? in black

Iv got the ugg sandals they have a chunky sole but are lovely soft suede and SO comfy.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 26/05/2023 14:27

Gabor is for old women. Don’t do it.

I ❤Gabor, even though they are rather expensive and won't last as long as a pair of DMs. You can walk a million miles in Gabors in perfect comfort, and I've never even had to wear them in.

CaloundraBlues · 26/05/2023 14:29

I've got Fitflop Remi, comfiest things ever

Tealfish · 26/05/2023 14:42

Does any one have these? I'm usually in fitflops (which are so comfy) tbh but feeling the pinch this year 🤔
Shun Chunky Flatform

Mumwithbaggage · 26/05/2023 15:03

Mumsnet costs me a fortune! I'm 59 and am off to buy some DM Blair slides as my summer go to shoes for work. The Blowfish ones are a bit try hard for me. Not that I know!!

Young woman: “Am I too told to wear these ugly grandma sandals?”

Posters: “Of course not, here’s some more ugly grandma sandals!”

Instead of swallowing every spoonful the powers that be tell you is true, current, or “in”, look with your eyes and see how UGLY and unflattering ALL these shoes are. All these threads on always dated chunky hiking sandals that make your feet look like giant flat caveman feet, they’re like unintentional tragicomedy.

Huh?

MysteryBelle · 26/05/2023 15:58

JaneJeffer · 26/05/2023 15:31

Huh?

Of course you’re confused.

I'm not confused. I just think you're rude.

Carsarelife · 26/05/2023 16:08

I'm 51 next month and have the cream pair of DM ones

JaneJeffer · 26/05/2023 16:14

Well maybe if you posted something that made actual sense I wouldn't be @MysteryBelle

What doesn’t make sense is rushing to buy something so obviously atrocious for the sake of obeying the marketing gods.

Why are you all buying these ugly shoes, they look the same btw, just because you’re told they’re “in”?

I would sincerely like to know the answer.

JaneJeffer · 26/05/2023 16:23

What sandals do you think are nice @MysteryBelle?

What sandals do you think are nice @MysteryBelle?

So you won’t answer my question?

I will answer yours. Any sandal that is both comfortable and flattering to the foot. (And appropriate to the occasion.)

You were told those clunky wide strapped Flintstone caveman sandals looked good. By people who are after your money.

I am not after your money.

Why won’t you answer my question?

I’m 47 and brought the dm sandals last year after debating for a couple of years. Wish I had got them sooner.
I got the ones with the cords over front straps as they were more comfortable for me.
The voss 11 also liked that they didn’t have the big tag.

I really like the look of those. Are they the type you got? I'm wondering how "good" the sole is, in order to tempt me away from my Birkenstocks.. Need the arch support, sadly

Or maybe people just like different things? Stop being a clown. I like DM sandals and some of the others posted on this thread. You called them a monstrosity which makes me think you might struggle if you go outside ever (or perhaps you’re just prone to hyperbole which is quite a tiresome character trait) but it’s your right to not like something. You don’t have to be rude about it though. Just close the thread and take a walk.

How are other posters whose opinions differ from yours after anyone's money?

What a peculiar post.

eglantine7 · 26/05/2023 17:25

I splurged yesterday on a pair of sandals from Russell and Bromley and way more than I would normally spend but I love them! Flat and comfy but a bit glam. I bought the light coloured ones

I think they have good support. I am a huge Birkenstock wearer and love them and also love these. Find them just as comfy and can walk for miles. They just get a bit heavy as they are heavy.

MrsMuscles · 26/05/2023 17:34

I got these the other day and I love them

Extremely rude. You always seem to get one.

I’m team DM @SimonsCow. You’re never too old for DMs.

I've just bought these and they are literally the comfiest shoes I own! www.heavenlyfeet.co.uk/products/ritz?variant=39767992369240

I can't speak for everyone else but I haven't bought any sandals this year. If I do I'd like something current because that's what fashion is about and always has been. You might not care about it and that's fine. I won't be wearing anything uncomfortable though. And of course shoe manufacturers want money. That's their business.
