Trying to search for some chunky sandals that fit in with current trends but also don’t make me look like I’m trying to be young (only in my 40s but work with young people so I don’t want anything too like the DM flatforms that are super trendy). What do you think of these? in black

What do people think of these?
They are Saltwater, but the new ones with the spongy, thicker sole for comfort.

I can see those Saltwaters will be more supportive than the originals, but I don't like the look of them as much.

@Heyaa just rude. I hope that snide comment makes you feel good about yourself.

Well I wasn’t thinking about how it would make me feel to make that comment but it’s a bit of a piss take to show off £200 sandals in a COL crisis

To be fair, that it’s taken 4 pages to get to ‘Do you know that’s a COL crisis?’ is no mean feat. There is also a whole board about the cost of living crisis, @Heyaa. You’ll enjoy that.

There is nothin particularly special about those sandals apart from glue on studs, they’re not worth £200 you might as well flush most of the money down the toilet 😂

Another one who can't manage to be civil.

midsomermurderess · 26/05/2023 19:45

😂 is just rattled, passive aggressive shite. This site is full of it.

eglantine7 · 26/05/2023 21:54

Lmao at the snark
I know I spent more than I would normally on a pair of sandals( and I did say that 😅)but I like them and I haven't bought anything in so long. I shop at second hand shops and you'll see me in clothes I've had for 20 years. Yes I'm fully aware of the COL crisis and we're all stuffed by it in varying degrees
I have birkenstocks I've had for years and strappy sandals and heels so I was after something in between and these are comfy and I like the look. I Literally do not give a fuck if the beads are glued on but hey thanks for your opinion 🙄😆

eglantine7 · 26/05/2023 21:57

Vagabond have stylish sandals and less expensive than Russell and Bromley but I really wanted to try them on in the shops and they all seem to be online.

Blossomtoes · 26/05/2023 22:01

You don’t have to justify how you spend your own hard earned money to a spiteful random on the internet @eglantine7. I hope you enjoy your new sandals.

BBNoM · 26/05/2023 22:12

@eglantine7 enjoy the sandals, that other poster is clearly a miserable crank

ladygindiva · 26/05/2023 22:15

I'm 48 and about to purchase the DM sandals.

eglantine7 · 26/05/2023 22:16

Thanks both. 😊 yes a complete misery guts.
I thought this thread was to share ideas and no you are never to old to go for the newer trends. Comfort on the other hand...

JaneJeffer · 26/05/2023 22:22

See @Heyaa reported me 🤣

louderthan · 26/05/2023 22:24

I've just bought these from Matalan. Seem comfy and only £19 if they turn out to be rubbish!

BBNoM · 26/05/2023 22:27

OP I got these but unfortunately had to return as the size 3 was too big for my tiny trotters. They were nice though, and a good price

I am 58 and just started wearing Docs.. winter here and I have a pair classic black loafers… I bloody love them. I work with young people and it’s given me a certain amount of street cred 😉.. they all comment on them. I had a day off work yesterday and went shopping and 2 people stopped me and said they loved my shoes.
I am definitely getting some sandals for the summer!
I do love those Gabor red ones though… sumptuous!

Exactly. It's a ridiculous state of affairs on here. Like people feeling they have to preface perfectly ordinary things with 'first world problems, but...'. It's an unpleasant tyranny, from unpleasant people.

Punkkitty · 26/05/2023 23:31

I of the 42 years and many many many feet and many many DM’s have returned to say I have purchased these motherfricken monstrosities!
I reiterate my earlier view of fucks given zero!
Yass Queen! (As my DSS would eyeroll deeply at)

Love the DM, Matalan and All Saints cage sandals. Initially went to Russell and Bromley to look at the caged sandals but in neutral colours for a change. Now I'm jealous of the cage styles - think they'd go with everything.
My sister, late 40s, teacher has a youthful style and she rocks the DM cage sandals she's had for a few years.

Dooopylally · 27/05/2023 08:33

There's nothing wrong with the Nessie ones, but I don't think they look £89 more expensive than the DMs!

wwyd2021medicine · 27/05/2023 09:02

@ThatDreamSheep
Re Heavenly feet sandals - are the soles rubbery or plastic feeling please? I like the grip of rubber for a sandal
