Non-wired supportive bras? DD+! Lemonade dolls?

FfeminyddCymraeg · 17/05/2023 13:55

I’m desperately looking for a decent, non-wired support bra or crop top.

I’ve seen many adverts for Lemonade Dolls recently - are they any good?

I just want comfort and have my boobs hoiked up enough that they look decent for work. The crop tops I wear at home are on their way out and give me a mono boob 😩

I’m a 36DD usually.

This one https://www.johnlewis.com/triumph-delicate-doreen-full-cup-bra/black/p6252550 is supportive, long-lasting and comfortable

I'm a 34GG and my favourite bras are Sugar Candy (the bralette in XL). I like Molke too for comfort and decent lift/support though the Sugar Candy ones don't show as much around some of the necklines I wear and give a bit more boob separation so look better under some clothes.

I have 2 sugar candy too came from Australia really quick. Im. A hh cup

These look lovely. Are they at all supportive?

I find them really good. I might not go on a 10 mile vigorous hike in them but, for normal activity, they do the job and they are really comfortable. They also are less monoboob-inducing than other crop tops.

almostoverthehill · 17/05/2023 22:07

I’ve got an ancient slimma crop top type bra which has been great

ScribblingPixie · 17/05/2023 22:11

I second the Sainsbury's Tu recommendation - read about them from someone on here actually. I wear them most of the time now, very supportive, very comfortable.

Tinkerbyebye · 17/05/2023 22:42

Another vote for M&S flex fit. I am 38dd very supportive and you don’t feel as if you are wearing a bra, and they give you shape

Colinorpercy · 18/05/2023 00:05

Another vote for Molke-they are fab! And they have a great Facebook group that will help with sizing etc.

Turmerictolly · 18/05/2023 06:12

Triumph Doreen all the way.

Never thought I'd be raving about a non underwired bra as a 38F but these ones from M&S are magic, I wouldn't even have tried it on if I hadn't been bra shopping and got chatting to the changing room attendant

I have these ones from m and s also, they are great for a bit of lift and comfort.

Triumph Doreen all the way.

Life ending. Awful

Username0987 · 18/05/2023 07:30

Glamorise non wired magic lift bras are fab although not particularly stylish.

Triumph Doreen all the way.

I love my Doreen! 🤣

FfeminyddCymraeg · 18/05/2023 07:56

So many recommendations! I’m hopeful that I’ll find something that fits the bill.

I don’t think the Triumph Doreen is for me though - I’m sure my Nan used to wear them and they look industrial 😆

But from the outside of clothes, it (doreeen) looks like it mimics the underwired bra look? Where you have two separate uplifed breasts. I haven't seen one in real life, I am looking at the pictures I mean. Isn't that a good thing? Even if the bra itself looks like it was made by Isambard Kingdom Brunel.

So many of the suggestions look like sports bras at best (splatted down into a monoboob of sexless upholstery) or just vests at worst (bra-lettes - what is the point if you have these mighty jugs? [I'm pointing them at the laptop right now they are magnificent mountains of womanhood]

thanks for starting the thread OP

FfeminyddCymraeg · 18/05/2023 08:20

You’re right @trytopullyoursocksup 2 actual boobs is no bad thing. I’m sure I remember them being a bit pointy but I could be imagining that. Maybe I’ll give the industrious Doreen a try as well

Molke

fugly but very supportive. I do yoga/Pilates in mine.

This is the one I came to recommend.

Lockdown and two years of working from home destroyed my tolerance for underwire and this is the best non-wired option I have found. I'm a 36G and it gives surprisingly decent lift/shape and no monoboob.

Julesni77 · 18/05/2023 09:44

another shout for Molke - they are a challenge to get on and off but are the only bra I wear now and I am not small of nork! Fab colours available - will propbably take a couple of goes to get your perfect fit but their customer service and ethics are brilliant - local company paying a living wage xx

blondiepigtails · 18/05/2023 09:55

Get into Bravissimo or an independent bra fitter and make sure you're wearing the right size. I thought I was a 34DD - turns out I'm a 30G. Who knew? No wonder I was always pulling the back strap down and falling out the front! Have a look at this site for measuring advice and get your tape measure out. Be prepared to be a band or 2 smaller than you think and 2 cups bigger. Keep an open mind. They also have a facebook page full of helpful advice and lots of ladies who can recommend non-wired bras. https://www.booborbust.com/

And Triumph Doreen have come a long way in style since my Nan's day!

Another vote for M&S Flexifit.

Thank you! Just ordered this one. I have the flexifit referenced before but it gives me monoboob so doesn’t look great even though v comfortable. Maybe this is the perfect one 🤞

SunThroughTheCloudsAt6am · 18/05/2023 12:06

I wear two of these at once:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B09MDPRX4Q/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

One isn't quite enough support, and I feel a bit indecent as I walk (38H), 2 is fine - not as firm as a sportsbra, but less jiggle than a balconette :)

Bravissimo do one that's more of a classic style with triangular, slightly overlapping cups that's good for when you want a bra-shaped bra rather than a full coverage crop-top.

BuffaloCauliflower · 18/05/2023 12:08

I love my Molkes. So comfy, don’t wear anything else now. A 36DD isn’t very big though so might be worth using their calculator or Boob or Bust to check your size
