Perhaps the robes were our public view, and they saved the true bling for the private extended family reception, with the European cousins?

Eaumyword · 08/05/2023 19:26

Crumbs, the last thread filled up quickly!
Thanks @Maireas for the new thread.

Loving Birgitte and Alexandra's gowns. Very elegant.
I'm not sure about the portraits of Charles. He looks very uncomfortable

GrouchyKiwi · 08/05/2023 19:29

Thanks for new thread. The official photos are lovely.

ChicoryDip · 08/05/2023 19:31

Thanks @Serenster - that certainly makes sense and I hadn't thought of that.

I'd love to think that William and Kate had a go with the crowns behind the scenes. In that group photo you see how clever Kate's 'not a tiara' was - it fits the formal portrait perfectly.

SenecaFallsRedux · 08/05/2023 19:36

I really like the neckline on Birgitte's dress (always on the lookout for flattering necklines for us women of a certain age.) She is such an elegant woman, a bit unsung, but she always looks very well put together.

ArcaneWireless · 08/05/2023 19:37

I use lovely far too much on this thread.

But it just is…

Ok - so maybe not style and beauty.

But pure style and beautiful words. So….

Maireas · 08/05/2023 19:40

You can't over use the word lovely.
It is a lovely letter.

I'm sure Kate has worn a McQueen dress with the same neckline before somewhere

Her lip colour is really flattering too

JADS · 08/05/2023 19:47

@ArcaneWireless lovely letter (sorry!)

Can someone confirm which necklace the PoW is wearing? I feel like she read our threads and thought "No tiaras? That won't do"

Someaddedsugar · 08/05/2023 19:53

I hope you don't mind me jumping on this thread - I was wondering if anyone on this thread might know where Kate's jeans/trousers that she wore today at the Big Help Out were from? Appreciate they aren't very glam but I can't find any hints elsewhere!

ArcaneWireless · 08/05/2023 19:58

I’ll be surprised if someone here doesn’t know sugar

I can’t help. Sorry. But I live in stuff with stretch and elastic waists. 😳

Evening @JADS - I think Kate is wearing the late Queen's Festoon necklace, but someone may correct me.
Evening, @Someaddedsugar - I'm just looking now.

Thank you so much @BambiBambi44!

Such a lovely friendly thread! Thank you again 😊

Yes!

Goodness me - to my eyes, the late hmtq has definitely got a touch of the Mirrens there!

I’d only want about 7 stones off that necklace…. I wonder if they’d miss them….

BambiBambi44 · 08/05/2023 20:11

Wow. That’s a good weight in diamonds 😍
Makes up for no tiara. Almost :)

Spudlet · 08/05/2023 20:15

That’s a stonker, isn’t it? 🤩

Also, from that link:

In 1950, King George VI decided to commission a new necklace for his elder daughter and heir, Princess Elizabeth. He loved to give jewels to the women in his life — the Queen Mother’s extensive Cartier collection is evidence of this — and Elizabeth, who had just given birth to an heir and a spare, reaped the benefits.

I approve 👍

Maireas · 08/05/2023 20:17

Heir and spare......🤭

That's a great necklace. A heist beckons.
