Elegant neutral cushioned sandals

Thisisthedawningoftheageofaquarius · 07/05/2023 20:42

Any help appreciated! I always wear gold havainas - basically all summer- but last year found the cushioning on them isn’t enough for my increasingly dodgy knees (45). Am looking for an elegant, either neutral or gold sandal that has a bit more cushioning. I’ve tried Birkenstocks and I like them on others but they make me feel like a granny. I like the ones below but dubious they have enough cushioning.
im thinking flat but a small heel that was comfy could work.
any options appreciated!!

Thank you!!

im starting to think I’m asking too much for one pair of sandals & should try again with Mayari for day to day; to give me a bit more leeway with dressier sandals for eg with dresses

Just bought these as I really struggle with very flat sandals with hard soles.

They are incredibly lightweight and comfortable, but may be too chunky for you.

I'm a Birkenstock sandal person and I have horrible achy feet.

Monkeymonkeymoo · 08/05/2023 06:45

I live in a hot country so my sandals get a lot of use!

I tend to wear Birkinstocks day to day but my other favourites are:

https://www.ancient-greek-sandals.com/en/eur/product/2636048/Women/Afros/?ColorAttr=29337&ShowAll=1 (expensive but really flattering and comfortable, they also come in loads of styles and colours. Just make sure you look at the ‘comfort soles’ section. I tend to keep these for evenings out/nicer events rather than day to day wear, just because it’s so expensive to replace them).

https://www.amazon.com/Blowfish-Womens-Granola-Whiskey-Dyecut/dp/B089WJ9TZN/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?keywords=blowfish%2Bsandals&qid=1683523735&sr=8-4&th=1&psc=1
(Really comfortable and versatile)

https://www.toms.com/uk/women/shoes/sandals/womens-sicily-brown-leather-sandal/10017893.html
(I love these but I have very narrow feet and they still fit quite snugly. If you have wider feet or feet that swell in the heat then these probably aren’t for you).

I’ve just bought these and so far I think they’re really good and very comfortable. I’ve also had their ‘Beth’ sandals in the past and they’re very good too.

All the sandals above are excellent quality and really comfortable (I’m just very hard on shoes- 20k+ steps per day and a desert environment means they don’t last forever no matter how good they are!)

mrschocolatte · 08/05/2023 06:52

Hi OP, I bought these last summer and they were fabulous. They feel lovely on and I could wear them all day and still feel comfortable. Can’t seem to get them in Ugg anymore but you can still buy them on Amazon.

How about these https://www.schuh.co.uk/womens/blowfish-malibu-laela-vegan-pale-pink-sandals/1744643360/.

They are like a pale pinky/beige and they also do them in like an animal print which is meant to be a neutral. They are extremely comfortable with a lovey spongey sole.

Check out pikolinos. They're incredibly comfortable, some of the styles are a bit grannyish but there are some ok ones too

Earth spirit do lovely natural sandals with a cushioned sole

glitterisntgendered · 08/05/2023 11:04

@SpeedyMackechnie - if you don't mind me asking, how is the material for the straps? Is it very soft or likely to rub? Is the ankle strap quite wide (I'm plus sized)

lovemycbf · 08/05/2023 11:21

I have to say I have problems with my feet and although I'm not a fan of how Birkenstocks look I wear the soft sole ones and it's like wearing a comfortable pair of slippers.
If you have a pair already persevere as they're so good

Stravaig · 08/05/2023 12:18

Look for styles with a moulded cork footbed. I like Think! (v different look), but the 'comfort' section of Ancient Greek Sandals linked above look like cork too.

I have wide feet and weight issues and I buy all my sandals from clarkes they have 20% off today. They offer comfort styling and wide fit.

CurrentHun · 08/05/2023 19:23

Really want some flat or v low sandals OK to wear for office that I could wear at the weekend for longer walks out in town all day. Birkenstock too stiff, Saltwater too thin soles, some kind of flatform would be great but can’t be too casual. ‘Beachwear’ specifically forbidden in the work dress code so we can’t wear flip flop type sandals.

Fit flop are good for support

I've got plantar fasciitis and a dodgy knee (lucky me) and I can only wear Fitflop. I've got boots, trainers, sandals, everything.

Can't stand Birkenstocks, the sole is just too hard

meganorks · 08/05/2023 20:47

I have been buying Blowfish sandals for years as I finally found some comfy ones, so I'm sticking with it! These are a bit blingy maybe, but this is the style I can vouch for. And I have wide feet

Schuh have the latest colours or Office have some slighty different styles.

Also in office. I tried these today and they felt really comfy. I was looking at black, but these are a more neutral shade. A kind of soft suede-like material

Also, looking at the ones you posted. The first pair look like a Blowfish copy but without the spongy sole, which is what I think makes they so comfy. Definitely don't cut corners with the sole. I've had sandals before that looked lovely but felt like I was walking around on a plank of wood!!

Verite1 · 08/05/2023 21:07

Have a look at air and grace. I have a pair - very comfortable
