Elegant neutral cushioned sandals

Thisisthedawningoftheageofaquarius · 07/05/2023 20:42

Any help appreciated! I always wear gold havainas - basically all summer- but last year found the cushioning on them isn’t enough for my increasingly dodgy knees (45). Am looking for an elegant, either neutral or gold sandal that has a bit more cushioning. I’ve tried Birkenstocks and I like them on others but they make me feel like a granny. I like the ones below but dubious they have enough cushioning.
im thinking flat but a small heel that was comfy could work.
any options appreciated!!

I am a huge fan of Sorel sandals - like walking on air!!

Maybe you want something with a heel but if you want a sandal that makes your feet feel like heaven Mephisto Helen is it. I have been wearing them for years and I have a few colours including gold. I bought some for my 22 yr old because she kept “borrowing” mine!

https://shoes-mephisto.com/product/helen-p5126113/

These look great! I’ve measured my foot. Measuring up as a UK 5 but they advise to allow a few mm at toes and heels. I wonder if they’ve allowed for that or if I should get UK 5.5? UK 5.5 is my usual size. Any idea how they fit Traverser?

I love moshulu shoes. I have several pairs and they're all very comfortable, leather and cushioned.
If you need one I have a refferal code for 15% off too

These ones might suit your requirements

They do look lovely. Says in a review they’re recommended for wide feet so not for me unfortunately!

Traverser · 09/05/2023 21:21

@Tinpanalley I am a 39 usually and I find my foot is completely snug but there isn’t any extra space, if you are between sizes you may want to size up. Unfortunately I am in the USA so the sizing here is different. In the UK I am generally a 6-6.5.
I saw a big department store online here recommends sizing up, but again, that is American sizing, not sure how that compares anymore! You may want to get both sizes and keep the one you prefer.
Be warned they are very addictive.

I have narrow feet and their shoes, boots and sandals (I have so many pairs 😂🙈) fit me very well.

That’s interesting. I won’t discount them then. Thanks.

Mephistos also offer refurbishment of their sandals (at least here in the USA)

Thanks. I’ve emailed them with my foot length for sizing advice.

These are the most comfortable sandal I have ever owned. Even flip flips give me blisters but not these.

I had a really comfy pair of Josef Seibel Tonga sandals last summer. Unfortunately they only lasted a couple of months of being worn maybe 4 times a week before the soles split. It's put me off expensive sandals. But based on this thread I have just ordered some Fit Flops and if those aren't right I've discovered there's a Moshulu store 40 mins away so will go and look there as they look like my sort of thing.

So many brilliant suggestions thanks a mil! Sorry for not coming back but working through them; thought the thread had died; really appreciate all the inputs.

im leaning towards either Birkenstocks or more likely the flip flops with arch support that a PP put up and then a separate dressy sandal - rather than having one do both.

I live in a hot country so my sandals get a lot of use!

I tend to wear Birkinstocks day to day but my other favourites are:

https://www.ancient-greek-sandals.com/en/eur/product/2636048/Women/Afros/?ColorAttr=29337&ShowAll=1 (expensive but really flattering and comfortable, they also come in loads of styles and colours. Just make sure you look at the ‘comfort soles’ section. I tend to keep these for evenings out/nicer events rather than day to day wear, just because it’s so expensive to replace them).

(Really comfortable and versatile)

(I love these but I have very narrow feet and they still fit quite snugly. If you have wider feet or feet that swell in the heat then these probably aren’t for you).

I’ve just bought these and so far I think they’re really good and very comfortable. I’ve also had their ‘Beth’ sandals in the past and they’re very good too.

All the sandals above are excellent quality and really comfortable (I’m just very hard on shoes- 20k+ steps per day and a desert environment means they don’t last forever no matter how good they are!)

These blowfish ones are perfect!!! Love them! Thanks so much!! Great to hear you do loads of steps and they are comfy - I’d do over 10k so need good ones. Legend!!!

They are, aren't they?

Heading on holiday tomorrow morning and hoping they cope with lots of walking😁😁

Oops - my link is to the Fuchsia rather than the Neutral which I have and love.

ArianahX · 10/05/2023 17:41

These are the neutral ones I bought, vegan sandals with good arch support & very comfortable for my plantar fasciitis yet still look nice.
From Blowfish Malibu £49.99 from Schuh.

I'm tempted by these. Like Birkenstocks but look less 'clumpy' IMO...
