Elegant neutral cushioned sandals

Any help appreciated! I always wear gold havainas - basically all summer- but last year found the cushioning on them isn’t enough for my increasingly dodgy knees (45). Am looking for an elegant, either neutral or gold sandal that has a bit more cushioning. I’ve tried Birkenstocks and I like them on others but they make me feel like a granny. I like the ones below but dubious they have enough cushioning.
im thinking flat but a small heel that was comfy could work.
any options appreciated!!

While we’re talking sandals, does anyone have any experience of Vionics? Sizing, width? I tried some on in work once and they were exceptionally comfortable. Energising! Never bought a pair though because I can’t find any to try on. Only seen them online.

I’d be willing to go without leather insoles for Vionics as they’re so good in every other way.

I can't wear sandals for medical reasons but I swear by Hotter shoes, they have really comfortable soles. They have a sandal range.

wibdib · 11/05/2023 12:12

Teva Tirra sandals are fantastic - I've had several pairs over the years and they are crazy comfy without being too bulky.
https://www.teva-eu.com/en/gb/womens-tirra-water-sandals/196565125781.html
They can also go into water without getting ddamaged, which has been useful. Assorted colours available as well as leather versions. Been around for many years so worth googling if you know your size as you might happen on bargains and different colours.
I first discovered them thanks to lots of recommendations on Mumsnet!

Fit flop gracies are great - leather slip ons but with fit-flop support

stayathomer · 11/05/2023 23:30

Monkeymonkeymoo
in your top link there were a pair of padded sandals for £180 in the ‘also recommended’ section and I’ve never in my whole life wanted to sell everything I own to buy something to go on my feet!! I can just imagine my poor, sad (happy until they realised those shoes existed) feet feeling so happy!!!!

I got these blowfish ones in the end - they seem comfy so hopefully they work out

These are very comfortable. They are ‘wide fit’ but I have narrow feet and they’re fine.

These look lovely! I find M&S sizing can be quite generous. Did you get your usual size?

Calmontheoutsider · 14/05/2023 23:14

In M&S I’m either a 5 or 4.5. 4.5 are a better fit in these sandals.

Catspyjamas17 · 15/05/2023 15:52

Very nice @AliMonkey . I'm fancying getting some tan Lulus (which just have a slightly thicker sole) as I bought fashionable chunky gladiator style last year and ended up giving them away as they are so heavy on my feet and too wide. I should have known better than to veer away from Fitflops as my others are like walking on air.

Oh, I saw someone wearing these the other day and was admiring them! They are lovely! The woman I saw had lovely slender feet though, I suspect they would be too narrow for me.

I gave up on Birkenstock because they make a fart noise when I walk!! I’ve tried a couple of different styles and they all do it so they went on Vinted! I was going to suggest Salt Water. I find them incredibly comfortable. The original ones wouldn’t suit if you are looking for cushioning but they do a soft sole version too.

Just realised this thread is from a few weeks ago! It came up in my trending section.

Shufflebumnessie · 05/06/2023 10:15

I discovered these last year & lived in them them (even bought different colours in the sale). Cushioned, comfortable and not too bad looking either.

Just noticed that the same range now has a gold pair too

Yes I bought one pair of vionics earlier this year, gasping at the horrendous price but suffering chronic arch pain.

I now have 4 pairs - well, 3 and one on order. I can wear them all day without pain or rubbing. Well worth the money. I don't think I'll ever buy anything else now.

I think buy one pair to see if they work for you, and then you will know. Sizing if you buy new is standard (I gather old sizing ran small but has been changed. I have bought my standard size.) One pair feel slightly tight when I put them on but they seem to stretch while you wear them, and have a comfort lining.

ginghamstarfish · 05/06/2023 15:09

Birkenstocks don't have ANY cushioning that I've ever seen! The footbed may be shaped to the foot but is hard as concrete! Clarks have comfortable sandals.

behaveasbefitsthesituationwillyas · 05/06/2023 15:58

So it seems like proper wedges are back then.? Oh goody, I still have some from back in the day that I can dig out Grin

I have these Birkenstock wedges which are very low and super comfy to walk in: https://www.birkenstock.com/us/lana-birko-flor/lana-puremetallic-birkoflor-0-eva-w_109.html

I'm not sure they do them any more but you can find them in other stockists. I have them in gold and they are perfect for work.

Anyone got the Tevas with the more grippy sole (Ceres?) and have any tips on sizing and width?

vix3rd · 06/06/2023 10:36

I can't get by Clarks.
If you go onto vinted there are masses. They are all comfortable & so many styles.
