I do hope there's a future exhibition so we can see Camilla, Kate and Sophie's gowns in more detail.

Love the embroidered dogs on Camilla's gown and the very subtle embroidered names of her children and grandchildren.

He's a typical Victor Meldrew. Philip was the same. We all know at least one 😂😂

Oh we do
Some of us are married to them 😂

JaneJeffer · 07/05/2023 11:59

@LadyEloise1 Grin

It's such a waste getting those dresses made and then covering them up with cloaks.

viewsoftheshard · 07/05/2023 12:42

yes, it’s such a shame that we don’t get to see these beautiful dresses. I’m starting to get tempted by a cloak now, I’ve already got the white shoes, a Kermit green skirt. All things I originally disliked but have somewhere entered my wardrobe..

*somehow!

Who was the stylish quite young woman in blue, sitting in the front row opposite the Waleses? A daughter of a European house?

Camilla's granddaughter? She was sat beside her mum Laura I think.

I'm sure she was the little bridesmaid who covered her ears on the balcony when K&W got married.

JaneJeffer · 07/05/2023 13:19

@viewsoftheshard cloaks could be very handy items for covering a multitude Grin

JaneJeffer · 07/05/2023 13:22

There was a lady in the front row who had a lovely light blue outfit with a kind of pleated circular hat but I can't find a picture of her anywhere or see her on any footage. She might have been a representative of one of the Caribbean countries. I'd like a better look at her outfit.

Indeed - I'm thinking secret snacks, hip flask , chocolate

Chewbecca · 07/05/2023 13:48

This pale blue dresser is Crown Princess Marie-Chantal of Greece. Not a pleated hat though? She looks fab anyway, love the belt and bag.

I was searching for pictures of Princess Alexandra at the coronation (I only first noticed her on the balcony standing next to her brother the Duke of Kent) and I came across this article about the four royals who attended both coronations (Duke of Kent, Princess Alexandra, Prince Michael, and Prince Richard (now Duke of Gloucester), with photos of what they wore.

These Four Royals Were Also at Queen Elizabeth's Coronation: See Then and Now

Prince Richard, Princess Alexandra, Prince Edward, and Prince Michael all were at their cousin Queen Elizabeth's coronation in 1953. Now, the four royals made history as they attend the coronation of King Charles.

Thanks for sharing @SenecaFallsRedux - that's great to see!

Kate looking more casual today.

Maireas · 07/05/2023 15:56

Thanks, @SenecaFallsRedux - that's really interesting. I'm glad that they made it to this Coronation as well. I know that the D of K has had some health problems. He kept the late Queen company last summer, I think they've always been good friends.

@Maireas I think in the royal family he is known as "Steady Eddie" which I think is a very endearing compliment.

AdaColeman · 07/05/2023 16:11

How frail the Duke of Kent looked yesterday. I thought it was bad form that the likes of Ant&Dec were invited, but no invitation for the Duke of Kent's grand daughters.

Eaumyword · 07/05/2023 16:14

I like Kate's casual look. Thank God for sneakers!

KirstenBlest · 07/05/2023 16:15

no invitation for the Duke of Kent's grand daughters.
Duke of Kent is EIIR's first cousin
His grandchildren are the third cousins of P. William's.
They are distant relatives.

KillingMeDeftly · 07/05/2023 16:19

The royal IG also reveals Sophie and Edward are oit and aboit (IYKYK) - her in a patterned dress and him in... a single-breasted jacket!

Maireas · 07/05/2023 16:19

I disagree, @AdaColeman . The D of K's grandchildren are not in public service of any kind. There was limited space in the Abbey, they wanted to invite people who have performed public service, lead charities, projects, were community representatives etc and that includes some contemporary celebrities. You may not be fans of Ant and Dec, but they are popular and have involved themselves in some positive charity and communal work.

I should have added that they are Goodwill Ambassadors for the Prince's Trust.

I wonder if the minor royals drew straws to decide who would be attending? I saw Lady Helen there but didn't spot her brothers and though Freddie and Gabriella attended, the Ogilvy siblings did not. I also spotted the Gloucesters' son and one daughter. They look very alike so I'm not sure which daughter it was - possibly the one with the NZ ex.

Maireas · 07/05/2023 16:22

Love Kate's casual look! I like her more contemporary jacket look. Nice to see them oit and aboit.

That's not her @Chewbecca, it was a black woman. Still can't find her! She looks good though as does her husband. I wonder what it says on the bag.
