Gooseysgirl · 05/05/2023 00:30

God I hope it's not a fecking flower crown!!!

ChicoryDip · 05/05/2023 00:39

Great title @Maireas. Checking in ready for the big day. 👑

Myaiminlife · 05/05/2023 00:41

Checking in ready for the fashion (and trying to spot DH - I managed to find him in the TV coverage of Tuesday night's rehearsal).

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 05/05/2023 02:42

Thank you for the new thread @Maireas 😁

StartupRepair · 05/05/2023 04:53

Thanks for the lovely new thread. I'm travelling in Europe at the moment and visiting friends tomorrow who I haven't seen for 5 years. Hoping we can have the tv on a bit, otherwise will be catching up on the coronation behind the rest of the world.

pussycatinfluffyslippers · 05/05/2023 06:23

Morning all. Thanks for the new thread, Maireas.
I knitted some bunting a few years ago, so will dig that out and drape it artfully around the house. Grin
What channel is everyone watching tomorrow? BBC, ITV or Sky? or hopping from one to another?
@carolinestowcrat Thanks for the link - How did I miss that? I'll give it a watch later (while I'm sewing).

lollipoprainbow · 05/05/2023 06:24

What time will you all start watching? BBC coverage starts from 6am I think. Can't help wishing the coronation was in the afternoon. It will be all over by 3!

pussycatinfluffyslippers · 05/05/2023 06:29

@lollipoprainbow I'll be up early anyway, but might need to nip out for half an hour early on, so probably from 8am? I might need some extra snack-type food, as (DH take note) I am NOT cooking a lunch!

Admittedly it's about the making of the ceremonial uniforms rather than royal style, but this was is fascinating watch. And for Sewing Bee enthusiasts, presented by Patrick Grant.

Delurking to say ... thanks for the link. All v interesting as DH is marching in the Coronation parade 😀

Maireas · 05/05/2023 07:05

Exciting, @JPduck ! Point him out to us!
That Patrick Grant programme was really interesting.

I'll be doing a buffet to graze on all day plus Prosecco! I remember doing the same for the royal wedding of Kate and William we started drinking gin and tonics from around 10am and were wrecked by the afternoon!

KillingMeDeftly · 05/05/2023 07:19

I'm going to get some scones and clotted cream in but other than that it's about all I have planned. I'm not a monarchist but it's an interesting historical event, though (touch wood) probably not the only coronation I'll see in my lifetime!

JPduck · 05/05/2023 07:22

@Maireas - he's in the contingent of blue berets who will be on the left side as they march down. Photo attached from practise at RAF Odium.

Some photos of Alexandra of Luxembourg's wedding reception featuring a rather phallic cake, GDMT's giant cabbage and a very relatable photo of little Charles playing on his grandad's phone! We've all been there...

Maireas · 05/05/2023 07:32

@JPduck 👍 we'll look out for him!

Thanks @Maireas 😀

Here's my DH at RAF Halton yesterday. He is in the row behind the standards as he is 'guarding' one of them. I am ridiculously proud of him.

Excellent, @Myaiminlife ! Quite right to be proud. We've got people to look out for! 👍

Morning all, thank you for new thread ☺️

Lol at potential newbies - makes me feel like one of the old gang 🤣

locketrocket · 05/05/2023 08:03

However... I need to thank you all for being so welcoming. I lurked for a long time before posting and now I feel at home.

It's also reignited my love of art & history so I'm signing up for a free OU course.

Now back to the bling 👑

Greengreented · 05/05/2023 08:15

Hello all, checking in. I am making a very British Victoria sponge for tomorrow even though it’s just me and the dog watching. DH is out tomorrow for a couple of drinks with friends but is excited to be able to come home to a slice of cake - he’s easily pleased!

Myaiminlife · 05/05/2023 08:16

@locketrocket which course will it give you transferable skills that will help on the thread?
