Petite range that is actual petite

Can I please have recommendations for petite ranges that aren't for giants!! Absolutely sick of buying petite stuff that I can't even pass on to my 5'5 sister as its too long.

I'm looking for wide leg trousers - up to a max of £50.

I'm 5'0 but always wear at least a small heel so to fit 5'2 / 5'3. A small size 10. Inside leg 29'

TIA :)

Watching with interest I have the same issue

Violetparis · 16/04/2023 17:00

I wear 3/4 length trousers as full length ones as I am short, maybe that's an option. I do sympathise with you, was looking at short length jeans in M&S the other day and they were so long, they never used to be.

RuthTopp · 16/04/2023 17:03

@WelshCakes1 I'm the same height as you but only 27 inch leg so I'm guessing I'm longer in the body . Jealous of your " long legs " !

Always said that if I was average height I'd have phenomenal legs. Alas, 5'0 was all god gave me 😆

M&S do an extra short. But ALWAYS sold out online

Im not even 'petite' at 5'5 but I prefer trousers to be 26 or 27 inches to be ankle grazers, just cant find nice ones

I didn't know this, thanks !

kitsuneghost · 16/04/2023 17:12

Watching with interest. Vanity sizing gone mad. Shouldn't even need to be called petite at 5ft.

Ignorify · 16/04/2023 17:14

Uniqlo does XXS (and XXXS on some things online) and will do free trouser shortening if you buy in store. My 5’2” dd does well from there for basics.

Myjobisanightmare · 16/04/2023 17:24

Uniqlo is the best I’ve see on the high st for their size guides too they’ll tell you the exact measurements of each specific item in every size I don’t know anywhere else that does that

Its something Ive been noticing more and more that retailers dont give a leg length. It drives me mad, its almost like they dont actually want to sell anything

Just had a look but don't like anything 🤣

May not be the answer you want to hear but I'd learn to turn up trousers. It's not that difficult, no sew methods too.

I'm 5' 3" and get trousers from M&S and Uniqlo. I'd say based on your description the 'short' would still be too long 😩

Littlemiss74 · 16/04/2023 17:40

Following as have the same problem

bellac11 · 16/04/2023 17:42

Given the average height in this country is around 5,3 or 5,4, who are the retailers aiming all these 30 inch leg trousers at?

justasoul · 16/04/2023 17:45

Watching with interest. Bought me and DD the same pair of trousers from M&S, hers in short leg (she’s 5ft) and mine in regular (5’4”), my DM saw me wearing mine and asked if she could hem it as it was ‘a bit long’. She took 10cm off. I’ve always been between short leg (an inch too short) and regular (an inch too long), 10cm! Shock

Niftythrifter · 16/04/2023 17:45

New Look has been good for me for dresses and I am shorter than you and Boden for jeans.

TroysMammy · 16/04/2023 17:47

I'm just under 5ft and once bought some red, wide, linen trousers from Primark. They were about 8 inches too long. I asked a friend if she could shorten them for me but when she said "do you want both legs the same length" I did them myself 🤣

I bought a petite maxi from oasis. I could have made another dress out of it! Brushed the floor on 5'5 sister.....

Had the same trying to find an evening dress. Ordered 4 from next/lipsey and with 4 inch heals on I could still stand on all 4.

I have no idea who some of these petite ranges think they're catering for, because it seems to be for someone around 5'6.

Hi, same problem so F. But I went to Matalan the other day and got some et vous black trousers for work they are supposed to be cropped but sat perfect for me. I'm 5 foot nothing too but wide feet...god help me!

Margot78 · 16/04/2023 18:04

I’m 5ft 2 and get on well with Next petite range.

bellac11 · 16/04/2023 18:20

Ive just looked at Next, again no measurements given for the leg length, so how do I know what they mean by petite. It ws the Roman originals I was looking at

The other thing raised by posters above about learning to take trousers up, many nice trousers these days have a little cut in, on the side of the ankle and you would lose that if you werent a proficient seamstress or just needed to do that iron on stuff (which always comes loose and flappy over time) and fold them under.

RampantIvy · 16/04/2023 19:08

Next?

NightOwlNotEarlyBird · 16/04/2023 19:40

I'm 5'2 with proportionally longer legs and petite ranges are either too long (new M&S styles) or too short (New Look). Not an ideal solution but cropped, culottes and 7/8 are usually full or ankle length for me. Ditto midi length for skirts and dresses.

For jeans, I like ones with different inseam lengths - Levi's, Hollister, Abercrombie & Fitch. If only they did this for women's trousers!
