Well, we're in the run up to C day, now. Thanks to @chesterelly for the thread title suggestion 😊

Afternoon, @notsuchafrugalkitty - I trust you are seated on a velvet throne, bedecked with bling?

The irony is that I'm as un-blingy as can be in real life, I rarely wear any jewellery including my wedding rings because they don't fit

On here however, I'm a Queen! 😂

Maireas · 05/04/2023 18:53

Thank goodness! Linda at the Post Office was most insistent that anything on the Spreadsheet of Splendour gets priority. I put in a bag of Maltesers, just for you ☀️

All this Woman's Weekly chat reminds me of a joke I heard years ago

What's the difference between Cosmopolitan, Vogue and Women's Weekly?
Cosmo tells you how to have an orgasm, Vogue tells you how to have one with style, Women's Weekly tells you how to knit one!

What are everyone's Coronation plans? We've been invited to a garden party

ArcaneWireless · 05/04/2023 18:58

Linda was ever so apologetic. They’ve been really busy with the signed fors because everyone and his mam knows you don’t send bling through the post without a signature on delivery….

It is lovely. 😍

Ps. That bastard Linda made merry with the maltesers 🤨

ArcaneWireless · 05/04/2023 18:59

I an working that weekend @chesterelly1

The tiara will be worn throughout.

Maireas · 05/04/2023 19:05

@ArcaneWireless - I'm going to cut her some slack because she's a martyr to her feet, and I'll be honest, Derek doesn't do much. Rearranging the sellotape and labels shouldn't take that long. More Maltesers on the way.

<gets the Russian Nuptial Tiara out of its tissue paper ready for 6th May. Realises it could do with a bit of a clean-up. Calculates how much gin she'd need to immerse it (apparently what the QM's staff used to use to clean her diamond stuff). Gives up and pops it in the dishwasher>

Maireas · 05/04/2023 19:44

Good call, @SqueakyDinosaur . What programme?. I heard the gin advice as well..

@Maireas Are you telling me you don't have a Tiara cycle on your dishwasher?

😂aah, this is why I hang around here scoffing malteasers and wearing a tiara 😍

AdaColeman · 05/04/2023 20:34

Did someone mention Maltesers? I float them on cocktail glasses of Brandy Alexander or Coffee Martini.

Maireas · 05/04/2023 20:36

@AdaColeman : you have class. 🍸

ChicoryDip · 05/04/2023 21:30

That outfit can only be described as so 'Very Max'.

If anyone is interested there is some information here about the different elements of the coronation invitation which appears to be missing in the post.

Morning @Maireas and thank you!

DH has just mentioned that he will be out on the day of the coronation doing one of those famous MN 'hobbies'.

Therefore I can watch in peace. Result!

Thanks to my DH's hobby (being an Airforce reservist) he will be (fingers crossed) marching through Westminster charged with the task of defending a flag so I have to watch - it would be unsupportive of me not to.

Gutted that he hasn't had a beautiful invite though - I guess they have just gone to the great and the good who will get to go into the Abbey rather than lingering about outside.

eggandonion · 05/04/2023 21:55

I hope the weather is good for all the people waving and the people looking after the events.
We were watching a Queen Alexandra documentary a few days ago...there were loads of coronations after the death of Queen Victoria. And now very few people can remember the last one.

Eaumyword · 05/04/2023 17:17

@Maireas Woman's Weekly always makes me giggle and think of the dear departed Victoria Wood getting beaten on the bottom with one in her song about spicing up her marriage 😂🤭

30 years ago my brother as a mere teenager hopped off the back of his friends motorbike and walked in to our local newsagents. He forgot to take his helmet off so the lass behind the counter was frantically pressing the panic alarm thinking she was about to be robbed. He reached the counter and said "a Woman's Weekly and a quarter of Murray mints please". Granny had asked him to grab a few bits if he was passing the shop while he was out.

Eaumyword · 05/04/2023 22:05

@OttersMayHaveShiftedInTransit aww, that takes me back to when you could buy a quarter of sweets in a paper bag from your jar of choice in the sweetie shop! Lovely. Chuckling at the thought of your brother looking scary, but asking for Woman's Weekly and Murray Mints!😂

Love Max's red leather outfit!

notsuchafrugalkitty · 05/04/2023 22:08

If you can't stretch to gin, diamonds love being cleaned in warm water with fairy liquid and an old toothbrush.

I'll pass on the malteasers, quality street green triangles will do me nicely.

gluenotsoup · 05/04/2023 22:23

I’m not sure if I like Max’s red skirt today. It looks like it might be a bit stiff and uncomfortable. Would make a lovely oxblood sofa though 🙂

WhatFreshHeckle · 05/04/2023 22:31

I love the look of the red skirt, but agree I probably wouldn't enjoy wearing it.
