Well, we're in the run up to C day, now. Thanks to @chesterelly for the thread title suggestion 😊

Just seen that the King will wear gold vestments https://www.royal.uk/news-and-activity/2023-05-01/historic-coronation-vestments-from-the-royal-collection-will-be-reused .

He is also recycling, re-using the belt and glove rather than following tradition of having new ones made. Personally I like the history of wearing his grandfather’s.

Oh poor Eugenie, ready to pop! I wonder if she will give birth on the 6th? What do we think she will call the baby? August is a classic slightly Victorian name so maybe something along those lines? Gilbert, Cedric, Eustace?

September? 😆

OttersMayHaveShiftedInTransit · 02/05/2023 13:02

A girl called May?

KillingMeDeftly · 02/05/2023 13:04

Cute phot of Charlotte, who turns 8 today.

A girl called May?

That would be nice, wasn't Queen Mary called May?

Lovely picture of Charlotte!

Maireas · 02/05/2023 15:48

Sweet picture! August is an interesting choice, hardly classical like Augustus. I think September would be a step too far!

Eug is glowing. She might have a few weeks left yet, who knows?
Eug, Bea, August are all named after ancestors so it would be interesting if she was to choose a name from her family tree. There’s some good choices at a quick look. Lots of the usual Elizabeth, Mary, Richard names, but a Henriette, Claudine, Maude and a few others.🙂

LadyEloise1 · 02/05/2023 16:04

I don't like the name August. I found it an odd choice.

Maireas · 02/05/2023 16:13

Me too, @LadyEloise1 . I've never come across it before. Do you think it's pronounced like the month, or Augoost?

OP posts:
KillingMeDeftly · 02/05/2023 16:32

I'm sure it would've got a drubbing on the MN baby names board!

Maireas · 02/05/2023 16:35

Indeed. Mind you, it makes a change from Alfie/Archie/Albie etc. Plus I have a class with 3 x Aoifes and I'm not even in Ireland!

Id go with the Germanic pronunciation. Will she make it to the coronation? In my case I was 10 days overdue attending my sons nativity play. No tiara needed!
Id be cross if I missed the coronaaaashion.

KillingMeDeftly · 02/05/2023 16:50

I think I've seen her refer to him as Auggie on Instagram.

Maireas · 02/05/2023 16:52

Right. Do you think that's Oggie or Owgie?

😂😂😂
Sure back in the day in Ireland there would have been 17 Marys, 13 Anns and a scattering of Brigids in a primary class.

August comes from the Latin name Augustus which is great or exalted.
It's nice premise that you think your dc will be great.
Mind you I'm not keen on Eugenie, Beatrice or Zara for that matter.

gluenotsoup · 02/05/2023 17:27

I can cope with Helena, or Claudine or something like that. Apparently August’s middle names are Phillip Hawke so maybe something similar in the pipeline. I’m not actually a fan of many royal names. Dd was nearly Charlotte but that’s as close ti regal as it got.
Theres an Adolphus and an Adelaide in the family tree, and Juliana on Fergies side I think. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Maireas · 02/05/2023 17:29

Leopold is under used I feel.

My eldest dd had about 7 Ruby’s across the 2 class year group, who ended up just collectively being “the Ruby’s” and I was always glad she was the only one with her name in the year group, maybe the school actually. The same for all 3 of them, and they’ve not got unique names at all.

locketrocket · 02/05/2023 17:31

Just looking at the Royal family instagram page and they're doing a post on QC. I think her wedding out is one of the best I've ever seen. Worthy of a pic I think ☺️ www.instagram.com/p/CrvDNG4Mt5Z/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=

I quite like August Blush

Also like Autumn, Summer & Winter

Papergirl1968 · 02/05/2023 18:04

Eugenie looks better today in a longer dress, I think.

Bloody hell she's got a good social life for someone that pregnant!
(you're all going to come on here and tell me you were clubbing at 39 weeks.....)

OP posts:
AdaColeman · 02/05/2023 18:38

@Maireas She'll have staff to run the household, and look after the toddler (Aoooougiee, don't do that!) so of course she can gad about.

KillingMeDeftly · 02/05/2023 18:39

Not clubbing but I did walk a mile to a yoga studio and did yoga every day for the last 2 weeks of my pregnancy. I gave up my gym workouts at about 38 weeks.
