Actually, I have a few older dresses on my wish list. I think 4-5 years ago the styles were more me than the current ones.

MaroonedOnADesertIsland · 27/05/2023 16:33

@ilovecherries going back a few pages but well done on scoring the ono (?) Dress, I love the blue leaf print, I have it in a skirt. I am wearing the leopard one we both have today, first wear as also an Ebay purchase. I have also remembered they did the same style of dress in a burgundy colour with a contrasting belt.
What other dresses are on your wishlist?

MaroonedOnADesertIsland · 27/05/2023 16:35

@Snowyowl78 hope the dress fits when it arrives, it looks nice and good for this weather

I’m looking for the Tala in either colour. And a lime and black checked linen sundress that I do have but is too big for me and the dressmaker was ambivalent about the degree of alterations required. I also like the Olin which was a checked poplin dress like the Anni. I’m so happy I got the blue Ono though. I was literally browsing eBay and it appeared and I snapped it up. The seller was joking she’d never sold anything so fast and should have asked for more but I reassured her that had been my top price anyway and had offered that amount to several other sellers, been refused and so walked away. It’s already on its way.

lordloveadog · 27/05/2023 21:22

Today I haven't been wearing Toast but a green and white linen mix dress from M&S that was recommended somewhere on mn a few weeks ago and I snapped up. M&S often so unsatisfactory and they have a tendency to reduce the quality of good lines, but sometimes they do things very well. Anyway it got chilly this evening so I've put a Toast gown (from last summer's sale) on over it and am very cosy. Glad Toast led me to stop thinking of dressing gowns as just for cleaning my teeth in.

Stoic123 · 27/05/2023 23:24

Today I wore the Seasalt green linen dress that's been mentioned on here - it was lovely to wear.

In case anyone is interested in the current Franca dress - looks like someone is selling an unworn Size 10 one on Vinted for £30.

Firesideknitting · 27/05/2023 23:38

Fully in toast today, a dog got into our chicken enclosure and attacked our Percy ! Hubby took a picture once I’d established that he was just scared and missing a few feathers.. but otherwise fine

dudsville · 28/05/2023 07:40

What a lovely pic @Firesideknitting and glad percy is OK. I like your chair, where is it from?

I was in casual toast yesterday. The japanese check trousers (i lengthened the hem and slightly tapered the leg) with what I think was called the round tee in a washed black with arizonas in a kind of creamy colour.

Meanwhile I'm doing mental prep for the upcoming sale. I must not under any circumstances (😅) buy more pjs/night dresses, cord trousers, dresses or knitwear. What i want most are the casual trousers and striped tees, and if they don't go in a sale then I'm considering just buying them.

dudsville · 28/05/2023 08:28

Oops, after posting I checked in the things I want and saw they had sold out of the bigger sizes. I know full well that they restock popular items but I got anxious and purchased. So I've ordered the garment dyed linen balloon in midnight and the indigo stripe cotton trousers. It's interesting, I'm not excited in the way I am with sale purchases, even though these are things I've been considering for a while. I guess there's no thrill of getting a good deal.

That is SO the kind of photo Toast would use in their marketing. Percy is a gorgeous looking bird. We have a fox hanging around just now, I suspect it has had cubs nearby.

Stoic123 · 28/05/2023 08:45

It is a lovely photo @Firesideknitting - good to see the diamond print dress in the flesh.

@dudsville - I'm also a no for me for any cord stuff, nightwear, gowns and most dresses (relaxed linen ones still ok- viscose ones are a firm no).

I'm allowing myself to consider neater or plainer jumpers, casual tops and jackets. Possibly relaxed, lighter weight trousers too.

More jumpers would have been on the list but recently bought a couple of the colour block ones (kimono sleeves) on eBay after selling some of my unwanted Toast on there. First one suited me surprisingly well so got another in different colours.

mizu · 28/05/2023 08:56

@Firesideknitting I wore that dress yesterday too, such a great one for this weather!

Noeggsontoast · 28/05/2023 09:28

@Firesideknitting I do hope Percy is ok and wasn't hurt. Percy is fabulous. A lovely dress too for yesterday.

OftenOrange · 28/05/2023 09:33

@Firesideknitting What a wonderful photo, you look brilliant in the blue dress. Envy the Toast lifestyle too, is the peacock always so docile ?
@dudsville Love the fuzzy logic of having a sale list then FOMO prompting full price purchases! I think you’re right because the trousers have been popular and may not go in the sale this year. I simply love the fenugreek linen balloon trousers and have you all to thank for making me consider them.
I don’t think they’re expensive FP , the high quality and interesting design can’t be compared to other companies.
You know, I think I may join you on the navy ones now !
I can’t buy in Summer sales as I’ll be abroad and the prices are so much higher so no bargain.

I had a root through some old clothes from 15+ years ago yesterday ., and found an old Nicole Farhi black knitted cotton vest top and also a wafty thin black cotton tunic , both of which are coming to France with me., they look good with linen balloon trousers . I’ll get the tunic shortened with a curved hem for a half tuck, price and quality of alterations there are really good.

Noodle421 · 28/05/2023 10:03

@dudsville I’ve just bought the linen balloon trousers in midnight after trying them on in my local shop. I loved them immediately.

I am now however slightly concerned with a few online reviews from customers unhappy with the quality of the fabric and colour fading issues and wondered if anyone else has had similar issues. Any feedback good or bad would be gratefully received as I still have the opportunity to return them. I know there will always be mixed reviews, but reading these has planted a little niggle.

Firesideknitting · 28/05/2023 10:04

@dudsville the chair is from Aldi, they’ve got a good sale on outdoor items just now.
@OftenOrange to be honest peacocks don’t like people so much, however when really stressed they will play dead, so easy to pick up. But this one is very used to me, so while he wouldn’t jump onto my knee, he doesn’t mind me sitting him in mynlap( key is to get a good hold of feet and a sheet or towel to make them feel safe). We have 4 of them, however 3 of them are wandering about the farm, with absolutely no intentions of going back into the enclosure. More often than not I spend at least a significant part of my week crawling into hedges and tiny spaces to catch the escapees ! Toast clothes lean themselves to easy to wear for our day to day life, Tretorn boots and thick socks with trousers that finish above that makes it easy to wear.

dudsville · 28/05/2023 10:20

Thanks@Firesideknitting , i had a quick google but it looks like they might not have them anymore. But what a lovely way of life you described, chatting down your lovely birds!

The reviews all over the place with those trousers @Noodle421 , the fabric's wonderful/awful and seemingly irrelevant to how tall or short a person is the length is perfect, too long, too short. There's a great post about how their sizing is still wrong!

"Fuzzy logic" is an apt description @OftenOrange !

@Stoic123 I'm sure I'll be tempted by something i hadn't planned on being in the sale but the pre-think is a good thing.

Noodle421 · 28/05/2023 11:12

@dudsville so true 😂
far fewer negative reviews about the fenugreek colourway, yet it’s the same fabric

Snowyowl78 · 28/05/2023 13:25

Today I am wearing the plum and yellow striped vest from a few sales ago, I really recommend it it’s linen and the colourway gives a cool retro 70’s vibe. I seem to be the only person who loves it as it keeps popping back every sale.

wow @Firesideknitting amazing pic, glad Percy is safe and well!

faustina · 28/05/2023 13:44

@Firesideknitting - 'perfect for rescuing peacocks from hedges' is a wonderful review for any brand, but particularly fitting for Toast!

Percy is beautiful - I nearly took on a rescue peacock once, but then realised my neighbours would not love me for it, so I didn't

I am cycling through my Alixes - the brass pair yesterday, plus the very shrunken linen boy tee (now dyed navy) and the slate linen cotton shirt

Just about to dig out some shorts (non-Toast) and do some serious weeding

MiracleToast · 28/05/2023 14:28

That photo is perfect for Toast!

Well, it’s my birthday next week and a heatwave in the highlands is I’ve just ordered the black coffee linen dress and the raffia hat as a present to my self. I really need a hat as I got spectacularly burnt on a ferry the other day. Has anyone got the raffia hat? It looks like it’ll either be brilliant or ridiculous. The dress seems perfect for the garden or out to lunch.

I was waiting for a sale but couldn’t resist.

Firesideknitting · 28/05/2023 16:35

when is the sale due please ? Socks I always needs socks if any are in sale, just as daughter always wanders off with a pair when she comes. There’s a couple of dresses I don’t love enough to pay full price for, so maybe would be tempted in the sale .. gutter I missed out on the firle patchwork quilt last year, so always hopeful for one of those may appear.

Noodle421 · 28/05/2023 16:42

June I believe. My local Toast shop has returned all items to be included in sale to head office. Anything currently in the shops will be non sale stock.

MaroonedOnADesertIsland · 28/05/2023 17:13

That's interesting @Noodle421 we need our toast agents in the field to report back on what is in the shops so we can figure out what will be in the sale! I'm really keen for a sale, having been quite sensible in the last few

Noodle421 · 28/05/2023 17:36

I bought the linen balloon trousers and the linen reed check blouse, so those won’t be in the sale . Neither will the liquorice linen dress or the cobalt blue version or the linen cobalt blue and bottle green jumpsuits. They were still in the shop.
