Maxi's, shorts, trousers, long skirts - fine. Even a short above the knee dress.

ScottishMouse · 26/05/2023 09:25

Thanks @neveradullmoment99 , they might work if they stretch a little.
I know what you mean about wearing them carefully. The Lina ones too, I think. I don’t wear a lot of dresses, and they are usually low calf length at least on me as I am short, so hopefully they will work with most things.

faustina · 26/05/2023 09:27

@Snowyowl78 - let me know the results of your testing. If you can stride purposefully in it, I will put it on my to buy list.

ScottishMouse · 26/05/2023 09:27

I have been eyeing up the colour block poplin skirt since it came out, and now that the sun is making an appearance, I am wondering about it. I love the colours and the style, but I wonder what I would wear with it, except for a plain coloured (probably white or navy) tshirt. Does anyone have it, or have any styling ideas?? Thanks.

ScottishMouse · 26/05/2023 11:53

Thanks again for the Fracap advice, have just been and tried on again and purchased the Olas. You were right about having to wiggle them on but them then feeling ok @neveradullmoment99 . I think wearing with socks for the first wee while will help and they should be ok. Very pleased to have persisted and tried them again.

Noeggsontoast · 26/05/2023 12:28

Have after realising I have not one pair of linen trousers for my hols and summer and also zero summery tops (I don't like wearing tees and my shirts are mostly mid or full sleeve) and I tend to wear dresses in the summer. So I bought the fenugreek balloon trousers and the coral embroidered cotton top to try as an outfit together.

Fantastic :)

MiracleToast · 26/05/2023 13:03

@Noeggsontoast how did you decipher which size to order for the balloon trousers? I am eyeing up the blue ones having realised I too am ill prepared for this warm weather! I am also consider the black coffee linen dress and the jersey one that has buttons down the back. I am unsure still with the new sizing.

Noeggsontoast · 26/05/2023 13:41

@MiracleToast I have stuck with the size I would usually pick so am trying XS. We shall see if it pays off. I can vary at Toaat between 6 and 8 and am a high street 8 and occasionally a 10, so I think it's a reasonable gamble. 🤞

neveradullmoment99 · 26/05/2023 14:11

There was a big difference between the navy and the fenugreek. Its so difficult to know what is best. I have the medium in the navy and small in the fenugreek.

neveradullmoment99 · 26/05/2023 14:12

I reckon the fenugreek was old sizing. I would probably order the medium instead of the small. There is a whole difference in one size between each. Very frustrating.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 26/05/2023 14:20

I am a high street 12, I ordered both the S and M in the fenugreek. I decided to keep the M as I thought they hung better and were also slightly more comfortable on the waist. I think it depends on individual shape and preferences.
I wore them all day on Tuesday sightseeing in London, extremely comfortable and lots of room for a large lunch Smile .

Noeggsontoast · 26/05/2023 15:39

@Theteapotsbrokenspout that's interesting to know. I'm very straight through the hip so fingers crossed they hang ok. They sound perfect for what I'm needing - I'll be having loads of big and long lunches (with lots of cheese) in France. 😀

ilovecherries · 26/05/2023 19:59

I’m so pleased I managed to get a BNWT Agnes Ono Leaf print dress in blue for a semi-reasonable price on eBay.

OftenOrange · 27/05/2023 09:00

@ilovecherries That dress is such a good print , the blues are wonderful.
@Noeggsontoast Joining you in the wardrobe prep for France . I need some light cotton vest tops for mucking about in the garden and hiking , the Toast ones are too warm.

Last year I bought a pair of very wide leg , elastic waist green linen trousers in the local market for €30 . Washed them with mixed colours and everything came out green . Ruined my nice blue towels !

Noeggsontoast · 27/05/2023 09:20

@OftenOrange oh no, what a shame that happened. I do love to find a market treasure. Now conversely I am well kitted out with mucky gardening gear and hiking clothes. We always garden the first couple of days when we get there, it's a nice way to relax after the journey down and gives the dogs a couple of days to settle in.

Snowyowl78 · 27/05/2023 13:34

@faustina re. The linen dress, having tested it’s a tiny bit restrictive for instance when taking stairs two at a time but for general walking about it’s fine. It’s not column like, there’s a fair bit of room at the hem. I probably need to take it up but not sure I’ll bother.

does anyone own this dress? If so, what’s it like for size?

@Snowyowl78 - thank you very much!

I have it in the teal and black colourway. Loved it, then during covid one of the advisors used to wear it a lot during the 5pm briefings and so took completely against it (fickle, much). Anyway, started to wear it again this summer and remembered what I liked about it. I would say it’s tts. Not massive sizing. I’m pretty much a 12 everywhere, even Toast, and it fits fine.

ilovecherries · 27/05/2023 14:17

wearing the 12. I’m 5’7.

@ilovecherries thanks so much! I just bought it from Vinted but now I am thinking it will be too small…
glad you’re using yours again!

Oh no :(. What size are you normally/what did you buy?

Snowyowl78 · 27/05/2023 15:51

@ilovecherries i would normally be a toast 12, but some dresses a 10 - more the easy dresses. This is a 10

Countmeout · 27/05/2023 16:20

I use a self imposed rule generally. If it buttons up the front a 12 otherwise a 10. Mostly works.

Fingers crossed for it, it’s a lovely dress. I’ve looked for that colourway for a while. My waist is my biggest ‘problem’. Extreme weight loss has made it chunky in a way that just won’t resolve by non-surgical means. I think with a neater waist I could def have gone to a 10.
